@Joey83812The Referring to the two versions of the Sandy Carroll door chime (as in "doors closing" and a two-tone chime), or one of the aforementioned chimes compared to the current "when boarding, please move to the center of the car" chime?
My aunt rides the red line every day, and she has told me about an operator how announced the weather and time, and about another operator who said "it's been a pleasure to serve you" after 30 minutes of sitting at Friendship Heights w/ the doors open...
@Lilfrank2567 That chime only existed on the CAF 5000-Series cars and those Breda cars that had gone through rehabilitation. The chime was never changed on the older cars. This chime was in use on the aforementioned cars from 2001 with the delivery of the first CAF cars to roughly May 2006, when the door chimes were changed to the current "please move to the center of the car" recording.
I've seen this guy before. On one of my trips, before I departed Greenbelt, he waved at me and said hello before entering the cab of CAF 5054. I wonder if he still works for Metro.
Just to ask you a question, I wonder why the Red Line shares two tracks of its own. There is got to be some kind of a connector track that diverts the red line into another track, you know, where the orange and blue line share their routes.
There are only two connections between the Red Line and the rest of the system. Both are single-track connectors not intended for revenue use. One is located between Farragut West and Farragut North to connect to Blue/Orange, and another is near Fort Totten to connect to Green/Yellow. The connection near Fort Totten was used for revenue service in the 90's as part of the Green Line Commuter Shortcut.
Hey there. I checked out your web page and saw that it has been revised. When I clicked on Largo Town Center and saw a picture of the two tunnels headed east from the station, I realized that they lead to the underground storage yard. I drove past there about a week ago. Is it possible for you to take pictures of the underground storage yard located on lottsford road? Would they allow you to do that?
@schiminweb I like the "DOORS CLOSING DING DONG" and the "DING DONG DING DONG STEP BACK DOORS CLOSING" A TIE!

He does, but he's a station manager now, as of summer 2007. He says he loves being a station manager because you get to interact with everyone.

Unfortunately, not likely.
