now i feel better knowing your happy, no hunting him down is not our job its the job of the LA Police Deparment, if the police would have checked the body shops im sure thay would have found the car or the guy jumked it our knowing it was involved in a hit and run, junk yards, must people take cars of that nature to the desert and burn them out but it dont remove the numbers from the car the number tell the paint codes the type car color the whole bit about the car, plus the owner of it..!
@david1513 - The problem with that was that the police didn't know what happened right away, as I was in a coma for 5 weeks before they could interview me. They originally assumed that I was riding wrecklessly because there were no eye witnesses that stuck around. The only people who stayed and gave a statement only saw me go under the semi but not the guy that hit me. That's okay tho, at least I can sleep well at night
@qbanruben357 well at least your still with us and your happy, it was probley a teenager and he paniced i ride a scooter i get cut off all the time because the speed limit for 50cc scooters is 25 MPH max, when thay will do 55 MPH..! there considerd like a bicycle can't go on the high way with them,
well i want be a rider, im 18 year old, i have one 50cc atm and everytime i get out with it i feel lucky to get at home, i love motocycles to much to even think in leaving it
cars ppl should respect us... (and we should respect 2)
I don't even know what to say. I hope the person that did this too you feels so guilty that he or she will just shoot themselves. But the kind of person to leave someone for dead is just too selfish to do that.
@burnoutking1971 - I can't agree with you more. I can sleep fine at night. Whether they can or not says a lot about what kind of person they are. Thanks for your kind words
@burnoutking1971 - Thanks for your kind words. I'm ok now. I've managed to get over it and move on with my life but if my example can save one persons life in this world, then it was all worth it.
Oh my! I'm terribly sorry for you! Please tell me if I can offer you any kind of help. This bastard will pay his debts - the Lord is watching us. Please let me know if I can do anything. With best regards from Russia.
@nikko444 - Thank you so much. I';m doing good now. My wife ended up leaving me (we were having problems before the accident and it ended up complicating things) anyway, I found myself alone and I met my girlfriend on line but she lived in London (England) but I sold everything, packed up and moved to the UK. I am happier than ever and now travel the world. It's amazing that something so tragic has made my life better than before
Seems the American public hates each othere, and especially Motorcycle riders! Ive been riding 45 years and have just been relatively lucky. Sen. Dave Zien rode over a million miles on ONE '91 Harley FXTR, and got in an accident with similar damages as you have suffered, this past March, 2011. God Bless and keep you both. FLHTom

did Doug end up bieng a hair dresser? my hair dresser is a motorcycle rider and he rides often... hes in north carolina now. i dont know if its the same person though.
@101johngalt - lol - thanks for that. Weird enough tho, I have no hard feelings to the hit and run driver. I actually feel sorry for the man. He's the one with no soul or no conscience. He's the one who has to sleep at night. I sleep very well knowing that what I went through has hopefully helped save at least one person in this world.
I pray for you and your family with tears in my eyes after watching your video, I look above and realize that things could certainly be worse. What a shame that anyone could do what they did to you and not care. Although I don't know you I bet you have forgiven them. Just I guess. Can't say that I would or could but you have gone down the road less traveled. Iv'e had my "downtime" on my bike but without a doubt you are lucky to be alive. As the persons comment below says, hats off to you Sir.
@Dandoesac - Thank you for your very kind words. I never want to discourage people from riding. I just want riders AND DRIVERS to realize it's not just a rider on a bike, it's someone's father, mother, brother, sister, son or daughter and if something happens to them it affects everyone around them.
nice video! Being a trucker and a motorcyclist myself, it hits home both ways, so to speak. As for the hit and run driver, part of me wanders if he was really a criminal, in fact I would guess for sure he was. Most normal people DO NOT treat others that way, in fact, I think most cars that do stupid things around bikers do it on accident. In a sense, both that trucker, you, and the witnesses who saw this are all terribly affected by this evil act. Like I said, probably a criminal!!!:(
@currdog77 - I never really thought about it but you know, you might be right. Some people who watch my video want to blame the truck driver but I want to re-iterate that I don't blame the truck driver in any way. He had no way of knowing I was back there. However, I do partially blame the fact that America does not make it mandatory for large truck to have side underruns. PLEASE watch my other video UNDERRUNS SAVE LIVES
woah...this is a very moving video ruben, Im really sorry to hear what you and your family went through. I hope you are doing well, glad you are alive. Most drivers dont realise the reality and consequences of their driving when getting into accidents with riders until it happens. I hope to see that both drivers and riders learn from stories of these sorts of accidents and not at first hand.. :(
Ruben, don't know if you remember me. I was a friend on MySpace a couple years ago. Last I heard you were moving away. You had met a wonderful lady. Just wanted to see how you have been and what you are up to.
I always tell people your story. I hope this finds you well. Didn't find any other way to send you a message.
@harleygurl1960 - Thanks for your message. Ya, I met a girl online who lives in London and I fell in love. I sold everything, packed up and moved :-) How have you been? I'm now on facebook and you can add me at facebook . com / ruben . carril
Hope all is well with you. I look forward to hear from you
Wow..just..wow. There are so many things I want to say right now, but I'll censor myself. First of all I am so sorry for everything you and your family/friends have been through. I am a new rider (few weeks) and as graphic as some of these videos are I use them as a way of educating myself on the dangers out there. Accidents can happen anytime, anywhere and to anyone. Secondly Karma is a bitch and I hope the asshole who left you to die gets his in the end. God bless and happy riding ;)

real life man. we're as vulnerable as squirrels out here. i know people who've been mutilated and permanently fucked like this man riding motorcycles. big reason i never fuck wit em.
If you need a translate of this mensagge, please say to me, im not very well whit english, but i can trie. Bye and I wish you and your famly, the best luck ever.
@qbanruben357 -Your Spanish is most excellent, sir! thanks you for letting your viewers peer into your life, and see what a good person is all about. Tu eres muy, pero muy buena gente; you are "good people". All the Best to you and yours! Que tengas muy buena suerte, y sigue adelante...
Hey man i was just looking around and seen this video, read the credits and all. and truthfully i cant honestly believe the person who hit you ran, can they even sleep at night? im glad to hear your back on a bike though, great modo by the way :) i myself am a rider and i know what you mean i have been ALMOST hit a few times and its no joke. irritating more or less. hope you are doing well :) we need more Dougs in this world lol.
@drewferneau88 - Thanks for the comment! You're right, this world needs more Doug's. As far as the hit and run driver, well, he's the one that has to live with it. As far as he's concerned he left me for dead. Please also check out my video 'UNDERRUNS SAVE LIVES'
I'm from Portugal (Europe) and i ride everyday to work and back. It can happen to me, too. When you're on a bike there's a lot to pay attention not just your driving. Sometimes you just wanna get home quick and forget some details, that could be your last. Makes ya think. What a story. Thanks a lot for sharing.
One phrase you wrote that made me think: «You must ALWAYS ride like everyone is out to kill you», i'll quote you from now on, man.
@paulorocha3 - thanks for taking the time to watch my video and for your comment. I want to raise awareness for drivers but riders as well to realize if something happens to you how it can affect your entire family. I don't want to discourage riders. I myself am back riding (trikes) but now I ride as tho everyone is out to kill me (because you never know....it only takes ONE)
@wxwxwxj - I never want to discourage riders from riding. As a matter of fact, I am back riding (trikes) but I want riders to understand not only the risks that THEY are taking and what can happen to THEM but if something were to happen, how it would affect their family. I also want to raise the awareness of drivers. You must ALWAYS ride like everyone is out to kill you (because as in my case, some of them are!) People just have NO respect for riders.
I'm a Harley rider and your story has really gripped my heart, I feel so bad for what happend to you, and ager for that person and those who fail to respect the road for bikers. God bless you for your courage and for you story.
@joelenag - thank you so much for your comments and for taking the time to watch. I always feel that if I could help save just one persons life because of my accident, then all my pain and suffering was worth it. I am back riding again (trikes) but have a completely different attitude when I ride, I ride as tho everyone IS out to kill me.
@COLEYAH - Thanks for your words of encouragement!! If I can help save just ONE persons life with all that I've been through, then all the pain and suffering was worth it.
Id say the truck driver needs to be force fed DIARRHEA. I hate loud bikes but nobody deserves this..... Or maybe a broken glass enema with some angry bees in there for good measure......
@waterfordjim - Thanks for the comment. It wasn't the truck drivers fault. It was a hit-and-run driver (who KNEW I was there) whom they never caught. Anyone who 'saw' anything, didn't stick around.
Dude, amazing story, sorry for what happened to you, all I can say it I hope some buddy finds that guy and gives him the chance to feel pain as you have felt pain. Keep on going, only a select few are survivors.
@moose3971 - Thank you so much for your kindness and taking the time to not only watch but comment as well. It's messages like your that help keep me going.
You are truly an amazing, strong and inspirational man. My heart goes out to you. Your video is an eye opener and shows what can happen when people "dont see motorcycles" and just how it can change ones life in an instant. I will be riding much more defensively after seeing your video. This is something that should be shown for drivers training to show people what their lack of attention can cause. God Bless You. Sportster-gypsy
You are truly an amazing, strong and inspirational man. My heart goes out to you. Your video is an eye opener of what can happen when people "dont see motorcycles" and how it can so quickly change ones life forever. After seeing your video I will be riding much more defensively, because so many motorist dont look for us on bikes. God Bless You.
@9SLR2 - I never want to discourage people from riding just make them aware of the risks that not only they put themselves in (because every rider knows that) but the risks they put their loved ones in.
Thanks for taking the time to watch and to comment and I hope you live a long and healthy life with your family!
@3amir2008 - Hi Amir, they never caught the guy that did this and of course nobody "saw" what happened. I am better now tho. My wife at the time of the accident left me and I was alone. I ended up finding the love of my life on-line. I am back riding (trikes) when I can and am saving up to hopefully buy one one day. I never discourage people from riding. I only want to make them more aware of the risks (not just to themselves) but their loved ones. And hope drivers gain respect for riders
hey bro i m a new motorcycle rider and this is a video that makes me think twice about riding but i feel like you have made me more awareof what could happen n i thank you. i m sorry this had to happened to you bro seriously.......i no god is with you n you r now with your family n that is a true blessing .thank you for making this video cus it will definitely wake people up. god bless you bro
@kedesha01 - Thanks for taking the time to comment. I never want to discourage people from riding, only to make them aware of not only what can happen to them (we all know of those risks when we get on a bike) but how, if something happens to them, how it affects everyone who loves them. Not only that but I want to make inconsiderate drivers aware as well.
@alanyojas - Thank you so much. You don't need any more words. Just knowing that you watched and felt is enough for me. Knowing that you took the time to comment speaks louder than most could imagine.
Great video. Made this ole biker cry! GOD had a plan set in place for you, thought it may not have been what you wanted or expected, I am glad to see you using the plan. Love the underruns vid. GOD BLESS ya man, and your family! From South MS Coast Riders.
@myeba22 Thank you so much for taking the time to watch my video but also for taking the time to leave a comment. I myself am back riding on occasions on a trike and just want drivers to be not only more aware but more thoughtful of riders and the impact one small accident can have on a whole family. Fortunately for me, God must have BIG plans because if nothing else, I am happier with my life now than I was BEFORE my accident. I hope to save at least ONE life! Ride hard, ride safe God bless
dang man thats some powerful stuff... your a real worrier of god i can see so stay in there flesh has nothing to do with your spirit. keep it real and God bless man
im so sorry to see how someone could have just done that to you man. i have had my bike to close to 2 years now and i to know how people could be to not even care. i had my right leg completly fixed with 2 rods about 15 screws. i also have to say that i had this injury but survivde 4 tours in iraq i am proud that i am a marine but am sad to know that my career as a marine has end because of my crash. i once again am truely sorry for you
@Shanethemanw - as a fellow USAF sgt, I can feel your pain. Thanks for taking the time to watch my video. I am also trying to lobby congress to pass a law requiring large trucks to be fitted with side underrides. please see my video UNDERRUNS SAVE LIVES. Thanks again and God bless,
Wow ! May god bless you Ruben. I too have a harley and ride alot with real responsible riders, but I hope other people watch this and consider giving motorcyclists a little more respest and room on the roads.I would like for all drivers to watch this.We all think that these things wont happen to us but that's just sadly not true.Accidents can happen at any time.Keep your head up and thanks for sharing this .If this helps prevent even one accident then it was worth the time you spent on the video
@MrSniper62 - Thank you for you very kind words. Oh how much I too would like drivers to watch this video in hopes that I can help save just 1 person. Fortunately, I am back riding again (trikes) & ride as tho EVERYONE is out to kill me, because as I have learned, 1 of them might. Also, I have started a campaign so that ALL large trucks be fitted with side underrides to prevent motorcycles (& cars & bicycles) from going underneath. Please see my web site motoridersafety . org
man, that video is a real eye opener... i've been riding for about 6 years now, and i just had a baby boy. i also just bought a new bike. i think it's time to get rid of it.

Dear xxubertxx1 - Thank you for watching my video and taking the time to comment. I not only want riders to understand that if something happens to them it affects everyone who loves them, but I also want to open the eyes of these drivers who have no respect for the lives of others.
I will NEVER get on a motorcycle. My mom's friend's son had his genitals crushed when he flew off his bike and it landed on his groin. Motorcycles should be outlawed.

Dear Mike, I never want to discourage people from riding but what I do want is to make people aware of what could happen not just to them but the people who love them. Thank you for taking the time to watch my video and to comment.
I'm sorry to hear about your tragedy. People that drive cars have to wear seatbelts - it's the law. How do motorcycle drivers get around this law? There is no protection from an accident on a motorcycle. A small accident in a car would equal a devastating injury or even death on a bike. I hope I don't sound argumentative. Motorcycles are just too dangerous and should only be available to police officers that need the extra mobility (if even them).
@Mike62075 Here in the Philippines, the motorcyclists here have no respect at anyone at all so that they are not respected at all. Driving at night without lights, not wearing proper helmet.. not giving way to pedestrians even its red on the motorcycles.. cutting off routes on the WALKWAY where PEOPLE are. Overloading a bike while everyone knows that the limit is 1. They make bikes an SUV. with their kids with them.. i think because these guys who do this are selfish and not thinking about d fam
I would have almost cried, thats so fucking unbeliveable, GOD BLESS YOU and greeds from Germany!
nonamek1ller - Thank you so much for your comments. The accident was not the truck drivers fault, it was the driver of the car that hit me. They never caught him but that's ok. I am very happy now. I met a wonderful German woman and now live in London. I am happier than ever before :)
@qbanruben357 If I read that correctly, you say they never caught the person that did this? That's so infuriating! I hate that most motorists are such ignorant, selfish jerks. This video brought me to tears, as I experienced a similar incident (motorist intentionally tried to hit me while passing my in my own lane). I was very fortunate not to get hit. Thank you so, so much for this video. It is amazing you lived through this, I wish you all the best :)
Thanks for sharing this, I can't image how hard it was for everyone. But for you man... you are strong to live through it. Wish you the best. Most drivers are not aware of what they can do. I hope that you are glad that your video is being seen and has raised awareness. God bless you and all those around you.
Awesome video man. If only all drivers were patient and treated us riders like they do other cars.. You must've been in a crap load of pain man. Someone was watching over you that day for you didnt die. You kept living and every day will get harder, But every day you will be stronger. May god be with you man

Thank you so much for your kind words. I am very happy now. My life has gotten even better. Even tho my wife left me after the accident, I found the love of my life and sold everything and moved to London. Thanks for watching and God bless
thank you for sharing your story. its very powerful and moving. as a soon to be street rider i plan on sharing your story with others to make them think next time they drive and see a bike.
i hope your doing well, God bless and many thanks for sharing with the world your story.

ndog1111, Thanks for your comment. I made the video not only to raise the awareness of riders but especially drivers who dont look and dont care. Ride safe and God bless, Ruben
RUBEN - it saddens me greatly to see that you had to go through this terrible incident, and obviously continue to live with the ramifications. It angers me to know that this was needlessly caused by a very selfish person who is a criminal and deserves to be punished for this. I ride every day, rain or shine, wear ATGATT, treat everyone as if they don't see me and possibly want to kill me. I am interested to know if you were wearing helmet, armor, etc. Thanks for sharing your story - PEACE.
Hi bigblackbrotha, thank you for watching my video and taking the time to write to me. To answer your question, yes I was hearing a helmet and was wearing a leather jacket, boots and jeans. I'm glad to see you have the right attitude when you ride and are properly geared up. I never want to discourage anyone from riding. Just to raise the awareness of what can happen not only to you but your loved ones. But more importantly to the driver who could care less about riders.
Ruben your doing a awesome job. Wish I had seen your video before my husbands accident. But don't think he give up that free feeling ride. He wasn't even joy riding he was on his way home from work. But it does HURT the WHOLE FAMILY including the children when there still kinda young. God Bless Ruben we will be chating on FB.
I was really excited about getting a motorcycle, but I'm starting to doubt now. When I told my family/friends I wanted to get one, they all said I shouldn't because they were convinced I'd get hurt. All these crashes I'm seeing on YouTube are not really helping either, especially your story. I guess I could also get injured in a cage crash, but it still feels different.
I don't want to discourage people from riding, only to make them more aware of the risks when you get on the bike. But more importantly, I want to raise the awareness of drivers of motorcycles around them and to have respect. Because if something happens to that rider, it affects everyone around them who love and care about them
I agree, sometimes the bike is a fault, but in your case you were not. Some drivers do lack respect for bikers, its a jungle out there, my policy is always to ride very cautiously around cars. They need to respect us though, you cant avoid a car that is behind you at a stop light.
Someone on here mentioned riding cams. I'm thinking of getting one. As a year round rider, I see driving (if you could call it that) around me that just defies belief. Defensive (trust no one) riding is essential for reducing your risk. That and good protective gear. A good book I read was 'Live to ride, ride to live' Taught me the basics and I recommend it. At red lights, I have one eye on my mirror, looking for tards like the guy that hit you. Live life well man. Thanks for the vid.
I second what steveonrock said. Thank you for fighting and surviving. And making this video. I think everyone that operates a vehicle on a public road should see it. I also commute year round, and the number of car drivers that attempt lane sharing with me is enraging. I also hope the police find the jellyfish driving that car before the biker community does...
Thank you for commenting dennymambo. I only want to 'spread the word' not only for the riders but especially for the drivers (cagers) who have no regards for motorcyclists (and their families) Every rider has a family to go home to and whatever happens to him affects everyone who loves and cares about them.
Ruben, this video was a big eye opener. I myself am a biker and think it's good that people like yourself share these stories to remind both motorists and bikers the dangers on the road and what could happen. I find it sad that many motorists do not correctly respect bikes on the road and sometimes are not aware of what harm they are putting others in. Thank you for sharing your story.
Exactly my point. I never discourage riders from riding, I made the video to open the eyes of drivers but also to open the eyes of riders that accept the possibility of what COULD happen to them. I just want to raise awareness & help save lives. I also have an organization to have the US government make it mandatory for semi-trucks to be fitted with underrun bars which would have prevented me from going underneath the large truck. Please visit my site-motoridersafety . org
Ruben how are you right now sir? I've watched the video and it really shocked me. Im also a biker (if alone) and a cager (when im with my family). Being a biker makes me respect other bikers, especially if im driving my car. I always look for bikes first. If im on a bike I just pray that I wont get into any accident. No matter how much pains and suffering you just experience, the most important is that your alive. I wish you a life full of blessings and happiness!
Thank you for your comment-I never discourage riders from riding, I made the video to open the eyes of drivers but also to riders that accept the possibility of what COULD happen to them. Please don't get me wrong bikes are FAST and the clowns out there who ride fast when they shouldn't are risking their lives and others. They risk pain and hurt for all their friends and relatives. if you want to ride like a tw@t do it on track.....Take care ALL of you. Those three seconds you gained might cost you thirty years of pain, tears and torment, not for you but for those that love you...It's not worth it....
I drive anything with wheels or tracks and the one thing about bikes which people seem to miss is YOU have to concentrate 100% of the time on a bike, you can't listen to the radio you can't smoke, drink, eat, YOU have to concentrate 100% of the time or you could suffer. That's why bikers are better on the road than most drivers. Like I said I drive everything, nothing makes me think more than my bike. Everyone please concentrate on driving - life can really hurt. Glad life in UK is good friend.
Estoy haciendo muy bien. Vendí todo y me mudó a Londres. La vida me está tratando bien. Y estoy disfrutando la completamente. Gracias por su amabilidad. Que Dios bendiga a usted ya su familia,
dude thats terrible! please to god tell me the police arrested the guy!
im 17 and just picked up my ninja 500 2 months ago...and i have to say this really shook me to tiers! how inconsiderate people are...its disappointing how someone could even think of doing that! my prayers are most certainly with you and all the people this effected!
i think ill remember this every time i go for a ride just to be that more careful, thank you for sharing with us, God be with you :)
Thanks for your comment and for watching. Unfortunately, they never caught the guy that hit me. But I am doing good & moving on with my life. I ended up meeting my girlfriend online and sold everything and moved to london :) Please see how underruns could have prevented my accident by visiting motoridersafety . org and clicking on UNDERRUNS. Also, if you have a facebook, you can join my cause. The cause is the same name as the website (without the w's)
I've been riging since 1967, had one accident, it was MY FAULT, even though the car was 'in the right', - because I trusted the car driver, and did not apply defensive riding tecniques. I still ride for pleasure and relaxation, I never trust any road user, because, generally, the only thing switched on, whether it be bike, car, truck - whatever, is the engine, certainly not their brains.
Every time I go riding, I reset my brain to 'Bike Head', and then put my helmet on to protect it.
Thank God you're still with us. It takes an honest man to admit when he was wrong. I never discourage riders from riding, I just want to raise the awareness of what COULD happen to them and the risks that they not only put themselves in but the people who love them. I made this video not only for riders but to open the eyes of drivers as well to be more aware of the people around them. Thanks for your comment.
I had borrowed my brother's ankle-length boots but they were a half size too small.
When I T-boned the car, he ran over my right foot, and as he backed up to see how I was, he ran over it again!. The tight boot held my ankle in one piece, though rather sore for a week or so.
I was two blocks from my destination, a Nurses Training Hospital.
Hint. Never tell Trainee Nurses you need your ankle wrapped, I ended up looking like The Mummy!.
Thank you. I didn't mention in my video but I ended up meeting a wonderful woman from Munich and sold everything and moved. We now live in the UK and I am extremely hapy.
One could speculate that, had you not travelled your painful journey, your circumstance might be other than it is now?.
Two years after my prang, I married the Trainee Nurse I was going to visit that day, back in 1969, and 38 years later, we have two Sons any Parent could not be prouder of, and five completely beautiful Grandkids, (so far) we continue our journey, - together.
im sorry what happend to you and i hope you feel better and your family

Like I said, probably a criminal!!!:(
currdog77 1 year ago
@currdog77 - I never really thought about it but you know, you might be right. Some people who watch my video want to blame the truck driver but I want to re-iterate that I don't blame the truck driver in any way. He had no way of knowing I was back there. However, I do partially blame the fact that America does not make it mandatory for large truck to have side underruns. PLEASE watch my other video UNDERRUNS SAVE LIVES

woah...this is a very moving video ruben, Im really sorry to hear what you and your family went through. I hope you are doing well, glad you are alive. I am a new rider (few weeks) and as graphic as some of these videos are I use them as a way of educating myself on the dangers out there. Accidents can happen anytime, anywhere and to anyone. Hi there Ruben
All the best to you,
Paulo

I'm sorry to hear about your tragedy. People that drive cars have to wear seatbelts - it's the law. How do motorcycle drivers get around this law? There is no protection from an accident on a motorcycle. A small accident in a car would equal a devastating injury or even death on a bike. I hope I don't sound argumentative. Motorcycles are just too dangerous and should only be available to police officers that need the extra mobility (if even them).
Mike62075 2 years ago
@Mike62075 Here in the Philippines, the motorcyclists here have no respect at anyone at all so that they are not respected at all. Driving at night without lights, not wearing proper helmet.. not giving way to pedestrians even its red on the motorcycles.. cutting off routes on the WALKWAY where PEOPLE are. Overloading a bike while everyone knows that the limit is 1. They make bikes an SUV. with their kids with them.. i think because these guys who do this are selfish and not thinking about d fam

God bless,
Ruben

I was really excited about getting a motorcycle, but I'm starting to doubt now. When I told my family/friends I wanted to get one, they all said I shouldn't because they were convinced I'd get hurt. All these crashes I'm seeing on YouTube are not really helping either, especially your story. I guess I could also get injured in a cage crash, but it still feels different.
Thanks for sharing your story.

I don't want do discourage anyone from riding, I just want people to be more aware of the affects on their loved ones if they get hurt

I don't want to discourage people from riding, only to make them more aware of the risks when you get on the bike. But more importantly, I want to raise the awareness of drivers of motorcycles around them and to have respect. Because if something happens to that rider, it affects everyone around them who love and care about them
qbanruben357 2 years ago
I agree, sometimes the bike is a fault, but in your case you were not. Some drivers do lack respect for bikers, its a jungle out there, my policy is always to ride very cautiously around cars. They need to respect us though, you cant avoid a car that is behind you at a stop light.
destroyerbmx 2 years ago
Someone on here mentioned riding cams. I'm thinking of getting one. As a year round rider, I see driving (if you could call it that) around me that just defies belief. Defensive (trust no one) riding is essential for reducing your risk. That and good protective gear. A good book I read was 'Live to ride, ride to live' Taught me the basics and I recommend it. At red lights, I have one eye on my mirror, looking for tards like the guy that hit you. Live life well man. Thanks for the vid.

I read the same book and I also recommend it to everyone who rides!!

I second what steveonrock said. Thank you for fighting and surviving. And making this video. I think everyone that operates a vehicle on a public road should see it. I also commute year round, and the number of car drivers that attempt lane sharing with me is enraging. I also hope the police find the jellyfish driving that car before the biker community does...
dennymambo 2 years ago
Thank you for commenting dennymambo. I only want to 'spread the word' not only for the riders but especially for the drivers (cagers) who have no regards for motorcyclists (and their families) Every rider has a family to go home to and whatever happens to him affects everyone who loves and cares about them.
Ride safe!

ZMagic97 2 years ago
Exactly my point. I never discourage riders from riding, I made the video to open the eyes of drivers but also to open the eyes of riders that accept the possibility of what COULD happen to them. I just want to raise awareness & help save lives. I also have an organization to have the US government make it mandatory for semi-trucks to be fitted with underrun bars which would have prevented me from going underneath the large truck. Please visit my site-motoridersafety . org
God bless

Ruben how are you right now sir? I've watched the video and it really shocked me. Im also a biker (if alone) and a cager (when im with my family). Being a biker makes me respect other bikers, especially if im driving my car. I always look for bikes first. If im on a bike I just pray that I wont get into any accident. No matter how much pains and suffering you just experience, the most important is that your alive. I wish you a life full of blessings and happiness!

First time I almost cried watching a video on youtube
I ride, all year long, braving all sorts of pacific northwest weather just to make my commute and day more enjoyable.
I can't imagine the amount of pain, and misery you went through. Thanks for fighting it and surviving. I hope they found the driver and prosecuted.

My accident had some humourous bits.

I exist for my Wife, our Family is all.
God bless you and Your family.
Stuart.
