How loud is it in the car as compared to the normal STi exhaust? I have a family that will be riding in this car sometimes, so I can't have something that is going to overwhelm them. Thanks!
Hey man, I have an 11 STI Sedan Stg II and love it. One thing I would recommend for you is to buy the "Blendmount" for your radar detector. Mounts perfectly underneath the rear view mirror and if you have either the compass mirror or the homelink mirror you can tap into the wiring harness and NO MORE CORD!
@billyjohnson777 i definitely agree. a friend of mine has an 11 wrx sedan and ive driven stick and wow that clutch is really hard. i learned on an 04 civic and there is suuuuch a difference. its so like hard not like difficulty but the feel of it. it also could of been i hadnt driven stick in like 2 years so i bet i could do it if i got another chance haha
Please dont leave your hand on the shifter while cruising- it's not a arm rest. This applies a slight tension on the gears and may cause things to wear out prematurely since everything is not perfectly aligned due to the weight of your hand on the shifter.
@moonrider99 the wear on tear that his hand being on the shifter is so slight that its not even worth commenting on, I always have my hand on the shifter and after 10 years of driving including 6 years of driving big rigs I never had any problems.
@18Caliber: I disagree. depends on the car and the hand and certainly does not apply to big rigs. It's like resting your left foot on the clutch, it's a bad habit that may lead to mechanical problems.
@moonrider99 the only way having your hand on the shifter will cause excess wear is if you got Brock Lesner hands lol. And not near the same as resting your foot on the clutch
i got a stage 2 mk4 vw gli nd it lasts 5 days city driving on half a tank!!! i guess im lucky, not tht u suby brothas like vw's but i respect all cars
@SuperGayguy21 I was seriously considering the down pipe but i really don't want to get any potential warranty claims denied bc of the down pipe lol as soon as they see it, it's game over. Maybe this coming April.
When buying Sti's or Evo's you really can't be worried about gas mileage because they will indeed rape you. If you worried about it before purchasing then its not the right car for you.
so uh how loud is it compared to an aftermarket catback? stupid question I know haha but I'm about to pick up a 2012 STi hatch and I'm not quite sure if I want to slap on the SPT and be done with it or wait and get the magnaflow CB. Advice?
@tnguyen600 Gotcha. Yeah i mean its hard to get a guage of how loud the CB is from a youtube video haha. SPT doesn't really have that much of a performance yield as well. Ack decisions decisions.
@wrxFTWdey Escort Passport 9500ix. I never had any problems with it. I previously had the 9500i and it saved me a few times. I only upgraded because the 9500ix was selling at a great price ($375 w/free upgraded mount and hardwire kit).
@dltafrc17 This is my first manual car so I can't really say. That said, I don't hate it and i don't love it. lol Sorry. Maybe someone else can chime in.
@dltafrc17 I have this car and I find the clutch slightly annoying but it's better than my sisters camry. That think sucked. sometimes I do miss the clutch on my 06 Si but the car is so amazing that it's fine.
@thatonemusician356 haha thats cuz hondas are the easiest cars to learn stick on lol i learned on an 04 civic sedan and i got the hang of it so easy but man this thing was hard to drive
@dltafrc17 The 6speed gearbox and gearing on the STI is one of the best. Clutch pedal feel is firm but not too stiff. Haven't driven a WRX but the STI is a great daily driver.
@cannedtuna o ok cool. yea the wrx i drove man was it hard. it didnt start moving when i started to lift off the clutch until the clutch was like 80% off the floor i was still used to the 04 civic i was taught on
@dltafrc17 2011 WRX has a pretty easy clutch compared to most performance orientated cars. If you think its hard you should probably just stick with automatics
@somanymods well the thing is the car i learned on was an 04 civic 5 speed and that was about 4 years ago and i had never driven stick since then until the wrx so i might of just been a bit rusty
@dltafrc17 my other car is an 06 civic ex, the clutch is defiantly softer. you have to get used to the feel of a manual with AWD more than anything else, its probably easier to stall than a 2wd car. Really pretty forgiving compared to some other cars. I had a G35 for a year and I never totally got used to the clutch.
@Diamondsarekewl I don't really know but you can always read up on the forums and see what the general consensus is. This is how I see it...If you own an STi/Evo/any performance car...you've probably beat the shit out of it at least once or twice during your ownership. Of course there are some owners that just enjoy it for what it is and baby it.
@Diamondsarekewl I tried finding a used 04-07 sti with low miles and had bad luck. I test drove 3. The worst one had 35k miles, abs light, speedo didnt work, many other problems..one had 70k miles all stock but was nervous about miles and tranny felt rough, and the best one was an 05 with 50k, perfect body, everything felt nice, 1 owner, and then when i test drove it i realized it had a major gas leak and then it sat at a subaru dealer for weeks of motor work. I ended up buying 2012 wrx instead
It's hard to say how many gallons per mile bc i do a good combo of highway and city but let me put me this way, if I get 200 miles per tank, I'll be happy. lol
@old12school3 Well, the wrx has slightly better gas mileage then the sti but either way, to get 300+per tank, that means you have to be getting roughly 25mpg or driving all highway, all the time. If that's the case...im jealous. lol
@tnguyen600 get around 280-320 miles per tank on my MY11 STI but I run 98RON fuel, which probably makes the difference. And that is with city driving and some highway driving. The new cars are pretty fuel efficient, unless pushed hard, then the fuel just gets eaten!
@Sandeep9201 The AccessPort is a its (off the shelf) tuning device. It reconfigures your ecu for optimization simply by plugging in the unit into your OBDII port. It's quick and simple.
Thanks for posting, I'm thinking about getting the SPT exhaust, just curious if it is my imagination, or does the SPT run a little closer to the ground just on the left side of the rear diff?
@lolohnoes Thanks man. It hangs a little bit but not much. It's the flange that hangs low. SPT is nice for now...once I have the balls to say fcuk you warranty, i'll get a down pipe and new exhaust lol
what is the difference between the 2010 hatch sti and the 2011 hatch? anyone please...

the sti does have a heavier clutch than the wrx and is more pleasant to drive if you like sporty cars.

ive driven maybe 10 manual cars in my lifetime and a wrx definately has the hardest and quite honestly worst feeling clutch ever.
