I use this recipe for the goo:

3 tablespoons butter

1/4 cup pancake syrup

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)

1/4 cup raisins (optional)

1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

It's easy to remember because of the 1/4 measurement also. It's pretty foolproof :)
