by the way...perverts are not exclusive to religions.. come out of your shell and see the world. Those are perverts who happen to be priests... Religion and church are different things. I quote "Even God in the christian bible salays people for working on sundays and calls for all gays to be killed" Seriously... the Bible was written by ordinary MEN thousands of years ago when that was the way people thought. To believe in a higher power doesn't mean you actually believe all that crap.
You are trying to make yourself look smart and elocuent by using cheap mind games and looking down on what other people believe to be right and wrong. The majority of the people in the world believe Scientology to be a cult (for something to be right at least 75% of the population have to agree), and no matter what you try to pull off here, Religions were never and will never be a cult... then again, Scientology is not a religion.
"Religions were never and will never be a cult..."
You also have a misunderstanding of the word "cult," from the French culte, Latin cultus (care, adoration), or colo, colere, colui, cultum (to cultivate).
Def.: 1. A group or doctrine with religious, philosophical or cultural identity sometimes viewed as a sect, [often existent on the margins of society and/or exploitative towards its members.]
ALL religions started out as a cult! But we agree $ciLenTology IS one & a $CAM to boot!
Basically you are implying that RELIGION is synonimous of CULT? Well if we focus on what people feel about those to words, CULT is much more obscure and agressive; i'm not saying it's correct though, it's just that that's the general feeling among people.
I posted the definition of CULT. I'm not "implying" anything. Cult is the root word of cultivate, etc. See below.
"Cult" is also a buzz word & it's gotten a bad connotation & reputation due to some very bad acts some very bad cults have committed. ALL religions start out as a cult. And not all cults are bad, relatively speaking. It depends on your view, I guess. I, personally, do not buy into any organized 'religious' belief (that includes cults) but I consider myself a very spiritual person.
As I said, "cult" is the root word for such words as CULTIVATE/CULTIVATION, CULTURE(D), etc. It also means, besides care and adoration, to till or to cherish. Look up the word cult in a good dict.
Now, I'd like to try an experiment. Don't use a dictionary & tell me what the word TERRORIST means to you in your own words. This is another "buzz-word" one hears a lot these days. I'll eagerly await your response, if you want to oblige or amuse me, that is.
I understand your definitions, really. But you also need to try and understand that for the MAJORITY of people, CULT is somewhat insulting. I know that that is not your problem since your definitions are correct and true, but, taking the context of the video the word CULT used in it is not reflecting something CULTIVATING or CULTURED, it's is pointing towards the general belief that CULTS are "bad" or "wrong"... this is of course MY interpretation of the video.
They're not MY definitions.:) That's why I said cult's a "buzz word;" like terrorist: "someone that creates terror." <=your def.,
Dict. def. of terror:
From Old French terreur(terror, fear, dread) < Latin terrere(to frighten, terrify)< Proto-Indo-European *tre- (to shake), *tres- (to tremble). 1. Extreme or intense fear. 2. Something that causes such fear.
In the last 40 yrs, which country has been the most terrorist? Who does the MAJORITY say it is?
I know dic. definitions are the real true thing, but unfortunately the "world's culture" has used this word to define someone perverse and evil. To me TERRORIST applies on people, while TERRORIFIC would apply for things or events, just like the dic. def.
Terrorific is not a word. Perhaps you mean "terrific" which means terrifying; causing terror. And yes, you're correct, terrorist only applies to people. And yes, someone who causes terror IS perverse and evil.
Terrorific is a word. def: adj. dreadful, fearful, awful, terrifying.
Terrific is barely used to describe terror, it is mostly used to describe something great, just imagine, someone comming into a Starbucks coffee just talking really loudly about how "terrific" Al quaeda is.. that'd be hilairous. Terrifying might apply for people or things/events.
THIS IS WHAT I GOT IN TWO DIFF ONLINE DICTS: No results found for terrorific: Did you mean terrific (in dictionary) or Terrific (in reference)? Dictionary suggestions:Reference suggestions: terrific Terrific torporific Terror Inc. dolorific Terror, Inc -trophic Terrifica Trophic Tawrrific traffic trophic trimorphic

"In the last 40 yrs, which country has been the most terrorist? Who does the MAJORITY say it is?"
Geez... It's a really hard one and of course this I could't really say on behalf of "most people", but being honest, i think believe it to be the Nazis, the Americans and the Chinese (to their own people) the ones who have created the most terror. IM NOT COMPARING THEM. Of course I understand that for Americans it would be the Nazis, the talibans and the chinese. I hope I won't angry anyone :s
Well, it's not the Nazis for WWII ended in 1945 - more than 60 yrs ago. The Chinese Cultural Revolution (1966-69) started by Mao Tse Tung killed approx. 30 million ppl but many died of hunger. So that leaves the U.S. gov't as the #1 terrorist country/gov't in the world. But if you did a survey & asked ppl to name the most terrorist country or gov't in the world, you'd get Muslims, Iraq, Iran, etc. It'd be an interesting survey to do. Which country has (BY FAR) the most biological weapons & WMDs?
To be honest I was a little hesitant to mention only the Americans, who I believe to be the #1 terrorist... that's why I tried not to be so straight forward., but since you are lol, I feel better know ;). about the muslims, i really think that it depends if you throw the question out of the US. I know for fact that nor canadians, nor latins, nor arabs, nor asians believe that muslims are the true terrorist.... and in europe i´m pretty sure they agree.
I'd like to emphasize it's NOT Americans that are the terrorist but a few elites, insiders & higher ups in gov't who are all in their cozy money-making bed called the Military Industrial Complex. Read "WAR IS A RACKET" (Free online) by Major General Smedley D. Butler (one of the highest decorated marines of all times, if not the highest) He was a whistle blower to Congress when grandaddy Prescott Bush tried to assassinate FDR & set up a nazi-style govt in the U.S. That's right, W's grand father!
I know it's not AMERICANS as a general population, it is a few people with a lot of power, a lot of money, bad ideas and a lot of free time. Let's hope that with that family out of the presidency the US will get better results.
I und but the def of cult the majority have was the bit added much later.
A group/doctrine with religious, philosophical or cultural identity sometimes viewed as a sect, often existent on the margins of society [and/or exploitative towards its members]
The part in brackets. When ppl hear the wd cult, they think of this part of the def Cults have existed since time immemorial & still do without this negative connotation. Exs. There are many Buddhist cults in Asia. Christianity was once a cult.

We agree 100% here & that's exactly MY contention. He points out quite correctly Christ had a small following, etc. & was a "cult leader" He was! And a very GOOD ONE! Emphasis on good! ;)
Yeah. He was a good one and this is way some of us really don't appreciate being comparedas cult to scientology. I think there are abismal differences between the "conventional religious cult" and the scientology cult. On the other hand, FAITH is exactly that... shutting the eye on reason. That's why I think The Holy bible is sometimes taken as the enemy of knowledge and reason; it's such a complicated book that everyone's point of view differs greatly from each other. (continued...)
From my point of view the Bible doesn't mandate to be ignorant or fearful, but it encourages us to believe in something else, something not tangible. I also think most the times it's too harsh or it strongly makes a point and that's maybe why it is misinterpreted most the time. People forget it was, afterall, written by humans in the belief that those ware the right things at that time.
There's no comparison. $cientology is a cult by definition -a destructive one- but to the insiders, the leaders who run it, it's a $CAM & THEY KNOW IT! $cn can be defined as a $CAM of global proportions with a totalitarian nazi-like paramilitary political view & agenda. It intends to covertly take over the world under the pretense of "CLEARING THE PLANET" but all it REALLY wants to clear are BANK ACCOUNTS! It's about money. There's not one iota of spirituality or religion in it. It's a CON GAME!
Religion and Church are different. religion is a faith and a belief on a higher power. Now, the church of different religions interpret their holy books in a way that is convinient for them, they're only humans after all. Religion per se resides inside everyone's mind and heart. i.e: catholics believe in free will. do with your life whatever, just know that God expects certain things. catholics do not try and convince people to join them nor they charge anything. You give if you can and want.
"Religion per se resides inside everyone's mind and heart."
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think you have RELIGION confused with SPIRITUALITY. I don't buy into any organized religion or religious belief(s) but I consider myself quite spiritual. Spirituality can be found in the sweet innocent smile of a child, the beauty of nature & the works of our creator but no child, I don't believe, has neither the beliefs, doctrines nor dogma of Judaism, Catholicism or Muhammadanism in their mind or heart.
It's not spirituality necessarely. There's a lot of people that truly believe in a particular God, but just don't go tu church or practice what is preached. They believe in that god from that particular religion, but don't agree with what humans have done to the church and religion for that matter.
I was commenting on your "Religion per se resides inside everyone's mind and heart" post. Religion has to be taught & learned. It's not inherent in man. Spirituality, on the other hand is, IMHO. Those who, like you say, truly believe in a particular God had to "learn" this. It wasn't in your heart & mind until that happened. When the Spanish & English first came to the Americas, no Amerind knew of Christ or Catholicism, etc. But they were still spiritual & had THEIR OWN religious beliefs, too.
I understand your point but I still believe religion resides in everyone's heart and mind. Yes religion is taught, but still, there's people who come from very religious backgrounds and don't really believe in anything or anyone, even when they were taught to do so. I believe religion is somewhat embraced by people in different ways other that "because I said so".
I agree it can only be in your heart and mind ONLY AFTER you've been taught and learned it. It's not inherent in man is my point. See the aborigine or Amerind example, below. And I never said and it's never embraced because someone said so, as you put it. One has to see eye to eye somewhat with one's beliefs, I would assume. Those who no longer believe in what they were taught is because they no longer see eye to eye or don't believe anymore & that's their FREE WILL God gave them to use, as well
It's exactly what you said about aborigins or indians. Even though they were spiritual, those beliefs were passed on generation to generation. I really don't believe that any human without a little bit of teaching could be spiritual, that I find to be taught or passed on as well. I didn't mean the "because I said so" in a bad way, it's just that "faith" is never questioned since it would no longer be faith, that's what I was pointing towards to, that you are taught about religion and faith.
"I really don't believe any human without a little bit of teaching could be spiritual..."
Now, we're getting to the crux of the matter. To me, as ONE ex., a child's smile, a gorgeous scenery, like a sunset or a mother's love ARE spiritual things. None are taught nor learned. They come from within or maybe from without :) From the spirit.
"I didn't mean the "because I said so" in a bad way"

Riply43, Yes, they seem to have resources and the ability to adapt their old black ops magic to the internets, but still in a creepy and obvious way. That is why the responses to this video are moderated. Recent developments hint that OSA operatives are among us (Tory @ the Thunderdome, and Fair Gaming of an anon at a picket). If anon can stay on message and focus on tactics that are simple, direct, and effective (not covert), then positive outcomes are a given. They remain Crowley's demon spawn
well in a way i would say all the videos out there on scientology are already proof of opinion. If theres a pro scientology its marked very bad. Anti scientology and it gets good marks. And look at scientology offical youtube accounts. Half of them have the video ratings disabled. Thats why the commentopener created his account so we can see what people truely think of the scientology videos without the editing out of anything nrgative that scientology does.
analyzingfunny, Thanks. I wish YouTube offered a polling or voting option. I would like to be able to poll (and tabulate) viewers as to whether they view the CoS as a:
nunsonabus, Thanks. I ran across an interseting German video with Ms. Caberta; asked if CoS was a Religion, Cult, Business, or Political Organization; she chose the latter, but went on to say, "I don't care what you call it because when we analyze it, we break it down to what it is, and it is exactly the distinction of good and evil, here the Scientologist, and there the demonized outer world. And, Scientologists talk about "raw meat", and the raw meat is to be wrought...
... and the people have to be recruited step by step. And the ideology is inhuman. On the one side we have the "Clears", the Scientologists, the only true ones. Hubbard says, "we are the only ones who are allowed to judge, we are the only ones who can bring democracy". You have to break it down to that when you are analyzing it as a state, and it is a political ideology that does not conform to laws and constitution.

THIS IS THE QUICK DEFINITION OF THE MINDSET WITHIN A CULT (no personal choice allowed):
1) subjugation under stress and fatigue
2) Social disruption, isolation and pressure
3) Self criticism and humiliation
4) Fear, anxiety and paranoia
5) Control of information
6) Escalating commitment
7) Use of auto-hypnosis to induce 'peak' experiences
8) Pay to play path to enlightenment

"I wish YouTube offered a polling or voting option. I would like to be able to poll (and tabulate) viewers as to whether they view the CoS as a: Religion..."
Good idea but it would never work I just
saw a video about how Co$ rigged a voting
poll on Australian TV. The TV station
exposed them...
One scam after another, That`s COS...

WHAT CAN SCIENTOLOGY DO FOR YOU?
They will take ALL your money.
They will take ALL your time.
They will take ALL of your identity..
They will take ALL of your brain....
When you have nothing left they`ll throw you
away like a peice of garbage...
Question: Why don`t you ever see REALLY OLD scientologists?
ANSWER : They threw them out with the trash.

analyzingfunny, Thanks. I wish YouTube offered a polling or voting option. I would like to be able to poll (and tabulate) viewers as to whether they view the CoS as a:
Religion
Cult
Business (including Scams and Ponzi Schemes)
Political Organization

nunsonabus, Thanks.

Lets mark a check-list and see if they qualify:
1. They Scam. CHECK.
2. They lie. CHECK.
3. They imprison. CHECK.
4. They abuse their own members. CHECK.
5. They victimises their critics. CHECK.
6. They are hypocrites. CHECK.
7. They are involved in child labour. CHECK.
8. They lie about their own religion. CHECK.
I'd say that's a cult, or maybe even a Mafia type organisation. It's hard to tell the difference.

TEOS, Sorry about the delay. I had wanted to annotate this video, but am too newby to figure out those logistics.
I ran across a video by LeftyBlue that addresses this question using an old CAN definition. I think it is brilliant, and have favorited it.

I am going to post her list in my info section for this video.
