  • Wow this is really the first synth I've seen with so much groove! Any chance of any schematics for this?

  • @LukaFilipan Thanks for the comment - much appreciated. No schematics available - really sorry. I only built one of these and it was sold years ago.

There are more desktop synths & effects being planned for release through Abstract Data (my company) - but that won't be until 2012.

  • Hi if i want buy one how i can do this ??

  • @bobthesquaredick Really sorry - there was only ever one of this model built.

There are some great new designs for sequenced synths being planned for late 2011/early 2012 - stay tuned!

  • Nice Combination mate :P

  • @plasmaforce11 Cheers! :)

  • Here is a man who loves his music, and knows his electronics!!! I've had this vid and the other one on my favs for quite a while... Just passin through again to listen! I Really like this one, reminds me that I need to get back into messing with ocsillators, electronics, and noise making!

  • @yazman1 Thanks for the comment - it's much appreciated and I really hope it inspires you to get back to making noises! Thanks.

  • @abstractjuz Am also busy building modules, you just gave me some new ideas for my new seqencer. Thanx

  • @SPEEDYDUSTREAM Good to hear. Good luck with it.

  • Man thats beast! Any info on schematics/kits?

  • @Intosia Hey - thanks for the comment.

Sorry, no schematics or kits available for this - it was a one-off build.

I am working on some new, similar (better) designs for late 2011/early 2012. Stay tuned!

  • i rewire locomotives this thing should be fun to build!!!!

  • Hi,

What kind of circuit is used to create the pattern generator?

    This is one really awesome!

  • @kupferm Thanks for the comment. The patterns are generated by a CMOS 4052. The clock is just a square wave fed through a 'Divide by N' counter. Clock the 4052 with two different tempo square waves - and there's your patterns. HTH.

  • id hate to see how complex the schematic is to that thing XD

  • @hellsmaw84 :) It was a pretty challenging build - but, it's also about trying to get get a lot out of a little. ;)

  • Eurorack version?

  • @sborges433 Hi, I am working on Eurorack designs but they will most likely be effects rather than synths/oscillators. I am looking at doing a new stand-alone synth like this - probably early next year.

  • @abstractjuz

    news, please?

I'm looking for a stand alone synth like thisss!!!

    thanks.

  • @Astralimmaginalis Hey, sorry I didn't reply to this sooner - only just received the notification from YouTube. Odd.

Some Eurorack designs being prototyped right now for release in the first half of 2011 and then it's back on to new desktop designs - hopefully before the end of 2011.

  • at first i thought it's going to be another anoying "noise maker" ..heh heh, but i am glad i 've made through the fist min or so of the video :)

That IS a VERY nice and cool machine! Thumbs UP. Very cool. Bravo!.

    /Dr ZEE

  • @DrZEEworkshop Hey Dr ZEE - thanks for the comment - it's appreciated. This was one of my first builds, so yeah, I was pretty happy with it.

Thanks again - I enjoyed your Raw Beat Quad vids BTW. Cheers!

  • that´s so cool

  • @ICandyflippingI Many thanks - cheers :)

  • The choice of sound is warm and the sync is seamless!

Are you building these for sale?

  • @antoniosage

Hey Antonio, thanks for the comment and the positive feedback - it's appreciated.

There was only a couple of these built and they've long been sold.

There is a *small* chance I might start working on something similar in 2010...

    Regards - J.

  • very electro!!

    10 stars

    **********

  • very nice how can I have one of these?

  • You can run mtc with this...does it recieve mmc?...can it send what it recieves?

  • Hey Mumbler,

This unit doesn't send or receive any MIDI info.

It's synced to a sequencer via an 'Audio Clock' - which can be any metronome-like signal, so a kick drum or a snare - anything clean and loud enough to take time from.

Pretty simple - but as you can hear - it works!

    Cheers - J

  • I love sync!!! and this is one of best sync that I heard!!!

    Excellent!!! !!!

  • Thanks! This one used optocouplers to get the oscillator under voltage control - their 'slower' speed is great for sync.

One of my favourite effects as well.

    Cheers: J

  • oooooooooh my fucking good ! i love it !

  • Really amazing, epscially when you take into account that it's a 'one-off' :-)

Can you explain something about how the interface works? How does it find out which notes to play when?

  • Hey - thanks for the comment.

There is a four note pattern generator/sequencer built in. This controls the Pitch of the Oscillator and has a second stage to control the PWM.

The timing is set either by an internal Clock - or via an external trigger.

Hope that answers your question - thanks again.

    J

  • That helped, thank you :o)

  • very nice

  • Nice one - thanks.

  • Hey - thanks for the comment.

Sorry, no schematics for this - it was pretty much a one-off.

  • me acabo de cagar encima...

i suppose in english that would be "i just shit myself" but in a nice way...

amazing, i love how it can be used in a musical context (i find a lot of desktop synths are just musically usefull for sound processing or just some wierd scifi sounds...)

  • Thanks for the comment - appreciated! Hope you didn't make too much mess... ;)

  • Beautiful. Very musical. Great control panel layout as well.

  • Thanks - wasn't easy getting all those controls squeezed onto that panel!

  • nice!

  • Cheers psilos - thanks for the comment. Appreciated.

  • fantastic, i want one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks calle989 - glad you like her!

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Cool - thanks!

  • SWEET!!!!!!!!!

  • schematics pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease

  • sick as fuck mate

    sexy sound.

  • Cheers Mountebank!

  • where'd ya get those knobs?

  • All from Rapid Electronics hre in the UK.

  • really cool!! love it!

    /Daniel

  • Wow!

    Any schematics for this?

  • Thanks Remon - no, sorry - there's no schematics available. This and the other synths I build are all pretty much one-offs.

More synths on the way though.

  • so, why no schematics :P?

sorry jsut feel the urge to build this.

  • Hey Dawoof, yeah sorry about that - wanted to get on to building the next one... and the one after that... and... ;)

  • This is veeeery interesting. Can you explain a little about what you're doing? i.e., What's with the sequence order (patterned versus linear)? What are the switches? etc...

  • Hey, thanks for the comment - appreciated.

The Pitch and PWM of Oscillator 1 have their own pattern generators (1st 2 rows of LEDs). The patterns are generated by the 2 knobs at the right hand side of each row. The 3rd row is a Gate/Chopper effect - also with its own pattern generation. Each pattern can be disabled by the 3 switches on the right.

The 2 knobs on the bottom right are for Pitch and PWM of Oscillator 2. Both Oscillators can be hard-synced to an external oscillator.

    HTH - Enjoy!

  • nice work and a very cool sound.

    5 stars!

    peace out
