In about 80 years, I will leave my grandkids with the gibson acoustic he signed for me. It's got soul now. It was funny, when I met him, the first thing he said was "who's is that?" (guitar).
his best album to date and im also a massive life long fan of everything he has done previous, cant get my head around all the negative press , lets do this thing called life!!!
Sorry but you can get in line... i'm his number one fan. But yes this latest stuff has been a bit of a dissapointment even to my eyes, i think after The Verve split up yet again and it was revealed that Richard only agreed to reform with them in hopes to boost his own solo career it has put alot of people off him, including die hard fans of his solo work. To be honest i think he's only formed this new band in the hopes he would build more of a fan base under a new band name than a solo name.
ive not yet heard the album, infact contemplating whether or not to buy it. He has always been a very adventurous songwriter. Sometimes he fails & looks shithouse... But other times when he succeeds & pulls it off.. well my god does he pull it off... He can be a hit or miss genius I guess.
Excellent album. I don't understand the so divided criticism, from major magazines to casual fans. Top songs: Are You Ready, America, Beatitudes, Born Again. I didn't like: Glory. I think is his best since Alone with Everybody. Great to listen drunk or eating breakfast early in the morning.
The album is very diffrent, there are few very decent songd, but I do not love it as much as his previous. But no matter what, I'm still his number one fan.
Damn... i want a Ashcroft

This guy is a genius. And The Verve a legend. And short hair suit him.

I adore him, I can remember listening to Bittersweet Symphony when I was just a kid.
