Anyone out there know where i can find this film? I saw it on VHS back in '95, but no DVD as far as I can tell. It's not a great film, and it did not do well critically or at the box office- part of the problem is the original 1951 novel featured themes and tropes that have been featured in movies like ALIEN and THE BODY SNATCHERS. Still, I'd like to see it again.

The book went way beyond the ideas in the movie. The movie wasn't bad, as far as sanitized Hollywood trash goes. In the book, everyone is forced to go naked, and people are forced to learn to instantly kill anyone who gets "hagridden". The movie was well cast, and Donald Sutherland was great, but it didn't go into the territory of the book. How could it, in the US theocracy?

I cant forget the part soldiers go to the town to shoot infected people and the parasites send children to them! the soldiers look through the IR scope and see that they are infected, they say OHH SHIIT and they cant shoot them because they were children!

Underrated movie! My favorite part is the shower scene where he is screaming to get the alien off of him after it's already gone and the girl just holds him. A powerful scene.
