Almost fell over when I saw that beard. I think that the trick to guessing all of the mystery guests so quickly was that most of them go on the show to promote their latest play or movie and the panelists know what's coming out so they can significantly narrow it down.
@JubalCalif Ha! I JUST watched this vid again and saw YOUR comment lololol!!! (Heavens to Meredith Wilson indeed LOLOL0) I KNEW it HAHAHAHAHAH thanks for the laugh, fellow youtuber i REALLY needed it! Very bad week for me in "real life" :-)
I'm delighted my droll comment brought a smile to your face & some joy to your heart! My pleasure! Sorry to hear you had a recent bad week! Believe me, I can relate! I've had my share of woes lately meself. But I hope things are better for ya now! Keep a song in your heart & a smile on your face! Thanks for your cute & endearing comments...they MAKE my day! CHEERS !!! :-)
Preston appeared on the panel as well. I'll bet he was amazing as Henry II. Too bad he didn't do the film. Laurence Olivier said he was America's greatest actor and had "a voice like thunder".
@bing00bob Check your sources. That quote is from Preston's great pal Richard Burton . At one point the duo considered doing a production of 'Othello"- alternating roles. There probably wasn't enough liquor on Broadway to get the two of them thru that production, LOL.
"The Lion in Winter" opened on the New York stage in March 1966 with Preston as Henry, Rosemary Harris, and a young Christopher Walken as the king of France.
Weird to see Preston of all people with that face of hair and in a role that Peter O'Toole. made his own.
After Dorothy's death, WML producers got desperate enough to juggle the seating arrangement to liven up things as they auditioned for a fourth female panelist. Thus a number of 1966 episodes are arranged male female F Cerf.
I second that emotion! One of the more enjoyable episodes from around the period! The late great Bob Preston was a truly gifted performer.....one of the GREATS, that's for sure!
Does anyone know what Arlene says at 4:22?
"You can't be called ???? in that."
The diction of those days...delightful.
Thank you for posting these NorbertR33.

Apparently Robert Preston never saw the show. He's only suppose to disguise his voice, not his face.
