Most Bands that have been around as long as the New Seekers go through "Line up" changes, this is Inevitable, lest we forget that sadly Peter Doyle is no longer with us for one.
The Band sounds bloody good to me and far better than most of the "pop" rubbish around now!
Good on them for continuing the "new Seekers" as long as there are a number of "original" members in the group I find this perfectly acceptable, and I'm sure the original members who are not present wish them only the very best!
how dare these pretenders try to suggest they sold 35 million records. not this shower. come back eve come back lin. the two here are pale copies. how dare you even try . has beens all of u.
What`s the point of having trading standards in the UK if they dont prosecute bands such as this which claim to be The New Seekers but are only 1/5 of The New Seekers hit band and the rest are some pretty poor performers. The vocals are truly dreadful and frankly this lineup sully the good name of the 70`s hit band . Peter Doyle would be turning in his grave if he heard this abominable showreel
It is always great to see Mick and Donna and Mark, and a another very good friend in a couple of the clips, our Mark Hatwood on drums :) who sits in on tour from time to time when needed ! Wonderful selection of clips !
OMG! They are truly awful. The only original member in this line up is Paul. They were my favourite band in the 70s. The first record I bought was Never Ending Song of Love. Eve and Lyn were great singers and Peter had a lovely voice and Marty was great looking. I think Nana in the pink should call it a day!
Paul Layton remains from the seventies. Donna Jones and Mick Flinn joined in 1980 and Francine Rees and Mark Hankins have been with the group for 9 years so a very established line up.
@Mastertaterbaker They don't try to sound like the originals, how could they? They are nonetheless a great group and having a ball. Sorry that you don't wish to be part of things.
@nicoiurh I just wonder why they continue with the name, they are clearly not up to the standard the original line up. My opinion is that they should make there own way in music and not use the Trademark of the original. Don't be sorry, I'm not. The fact that you think they are good is ok by me, it's your taste in music I guess, but I do think it like buying a tin of Heinz Beans and finding Shoppers Paradise Beans in the tin.......... somewhat dissapointing
@Mastertaterbaker Remind me which show you came to which you are basing your judgment on please? Surely not just a three minute clip? Never tasted Shoppers Paradise beans myself so can't share your taste!
What I love about comments like this is that it speaks volumes!! You so don't want to enjoy today's NS but just have to keep coming back over and over again to listen to how good they are! Like so many people out there who have tried, through loyalty I guess, to resist the temptation but eventually come to their senses realising just how good the guys are. However, do continue your 1 man campaign as you have helped give us so much attention thank you!!
This band looks like the original girls, Eve & Lyn but the bods are new, the original ones left many years ago and Peter Doyle the tall one passed away in 2001.
pgrimstead - You have misread my comment, I plainly stated that the girls are the original, how is that an insult, I take some pride that this was basically an Australian group that made it big.
pgrimstead - As the original Seekers were an Aussie group and the New Seekers were a revival group that was composed of Aussies and poms but was actually initiated & managed by Keith Potger one of the original Seekers, I'd call it an Aussie group which graciously included some poms to make it saleable commodity in pommieland.
pigsted - I believe Ozland is the covetted prize which you failed to see the sunshine though the London fog, so lineup at Oz House and apply for emigration if you have intelligence and are healthy enough to withstand our fabulous weather. Actually Sir Les put it rather well when he called england the Former UK, or FUK for short.
pigsted - Not once on your 2nd previous post did you mention the New Seekers, I suggest you get your facts right as I have pretty well done so. The New Seekers were Oz originated and went to the fUK to seek their fortune.
@webaroos - you got it wrong ... the original Seekers WERE from Oz ... the New Seekers were from UK, apart from their Manager Keith Podger who was one of the Seekers.
They are quite good in their own right but how on earth can they go around calling themselves the New Seekers? Once again nostalgia plays a big part in this line ups success as many people who go to see them know and want to hear the songs but would not have a clue who the line up was at the original New Seekers peak!.
Not a patch vocally on Eve,Lyn,Marty,Paul,Peter & Peter. I'd be really disappointed if i went to see them & got this line up. They are obviously liked, good luck to them, but i'll stick to my original 70 - 74 New Seekers
When current Manchester United players joined the club, they took on the name made famous by the Busby Babes. When these people joined Paul Layton in his team, they became members of The New Seekers. They have every right to use that name! Grow up and move with the times folks!
I can't believe that artists can be ripped off in this way. The only member of the chart topping "New Seekers" is Paul Layton. Any one in a karaoke pub could sing to this quality would they be "The New Seekers" - this really is a disgrace and they should be ashamed of themselves for making money from OTHER PEOPLE'S TALENT. If you want to hear proper New Seekers music check the dates and names - LYN PAUL, EVE GRAHAM, PETER DOYLE, MARTY KRISTIAN, PAUL LAYTON, and PETER OLIVER.
moving with the times is something they definately have't done judging by the look of them, however for once you didn't delete my message and hopefully you now realise we are all allowed our opinion. Please don't bother to respond as i won't be looking at any of the videos involving this lot anymore.
the only original i n this lineup is Paul Layton. NONE of the others were in the original band. They were Peter Doyle, Marty Kristian, Lyn Paul and Eve Graham. Being in the band since 1979 does not make them two of the originals when will you wake up and realise this.
Oh I can assure you that I am wide awake. Which part of my comments says that being in the band since 1979 makes Mick and Donna original members? It purely indicates that today's line up is certainly a well established one. Why are you so angry about this, possibly because it annoys you to see the guys doing so well today? It is allowed, it's called moving with the time...how is back in 1974 today?
@nicoiurh I had to laugh when you say - " it`s called moving with the time " - it`s not moving with the times in this clip where all they sing are 1974 songs or did i miss something !!LOL It`s a shame for those of us who appreciate good music and for the fans of the hit lineup Worldwide that Marty kristian & paul Layton declined to reform the original line up for the 40th anniversary tour with Lyn Paul & Eve Graham - this was confirmed in a statement made by Eve earlier this year.
Don't make assumptions based on what you think you may have read. Eve and I both made a statement regarding the reunion which is posted on Eves site and it certainly doesn't state that any reunion was based on Paul or Marty's decision alone. I was involved heavily in the proceedings so, as Eve requests, ask me directly if you have any questions about it. Incidentally, why do you feel it necessary to continue your war against the group? One man war that is.
There's only one original member of the band there, the other 4 didn't have any of the success of the best line up, I don't see how they can claim the figures of 35 million records. It's a shame they couldn't get the proper ones back together!
New Seekers one of them and who are the others may I ask? The Newer Seekers!
Please get the original line up back together and then do a tour of England
