  • I still have my C64 in good working order

  • Dear god I miss this game.

  • The thing that makes it confusing is that you didnt use the sound that was accompanying the visuals...

  • Thank you for that extreme run of Paradroid C64 sound effects. :D I associate the sound with pure weekend pleasure.

  • One of the best games ever made. This game required skill, luck and patience.

One of the noob mistakes was to kill the easy lower level droids first. Mistake. You needed to save the lower droids so when you got busted back down to 001 you could climb back up the ladder. So the trick was advance thru the decks until you had a high level security bot with weaponry and then clear the hard decks. Later on you could clear the lower decks easily....

  • That ruled, hard. I missed this first time round and got it in a double pack with Uridium. Sweet. The 999 droid was shit, died out too quick. One of the 8's was better, was it a 826??

  • mindblowing thing. classic.

  • Greatest.Game.Ever

  • If the C64 could ever eat a shroom...

  • Wow, I miss this game. I wonder if I can get it on Wii Virtual Console? That would be sweet.

  • @ElevenDestinys I think is is available on the Virtual Console for 500 credits

  • god the sound is annoying

  • @Alianger No, it's awesome! Burnt into the consciousness of an entire generation of gamers!

  • one of the best game evere played in my life :-(

  • classic

  • @EFileTahi

Play both versions (C64 + Amiga) and you now why.

The playability is more perfekt on the good old C64,the game is much faster (the metal version is very fast) and the scrolling routine is much more smooth.

    Check it out!!!

  • 999 or the disruptors the two laser dudes yes this game was awesome

  • Waaait...

    MAN, THAT'S AWESOME.

Danke Andrew Braybrook!

  • no you don't

  • I have played this years ago on my C64 and now I have downloaded it on my Wii.

Back in 1985, I couldn't beat it, but now, 24 years later, it's my time to take over Number 999.

It is a perfect mix of action, strategy, exploring and puzzles.

Very exciting cult classic with lots of love put in the details.

Story, audio and visuals just fit for this game.

Andrew Braybrook made some really outstanding games. Two of my other favourite C64 games were made by him: Gribbly's Day Out and Uridium.

  • According to Wikipedia the game never ends: "when you clear the eighth ship called "Itsnotardenuff", you're just replaced back on the ship, with higher-ranking droids on each deck."

  • I can't understand how can someone state that the c64 version of this game was better then the amiga version.

  • To speak the truth, the only thing that makes sense to me is the part in which one is going to get the superior enemy. Other is just rubbish.

And don't say that I'm young and understand anything of these games, I've played them and this game has always been very hard for me. Especially this C64 version, not like the superior Atari ST version.

  • has anyone clocked this game yet? i've reached the ship called "craftgold" or the one after that, but it's gets real crazy!! almost every floor you go to has battle droids there and they fire non stop at you! the 711 or 742 droids are the best for these manic levels as they blow up all droids on the screen!

  • This was an addictive game, that kept me from sleeping many nights.

  • what is that continuous noise? thats just background noise? sounds like garage music

  • It does not match the sound you here when you play the actual game. The guy who put the video on dubbed the robotic sounds. But those are taken from the game.

  • This is one of the best games ever! And it has got perfect music! Download free FreeDroid. It's the same game for windows, linux and perhaps mac (im not sure)

  • What an outstanding game! Played it back then on the C-64 and can play it now on the C-64 emulator!

Great gameplay and the sounds are just awesome . . . very matching. Don´t like the P90 sounds as much, but the graphics looks quite cool! Salute to A. Braybrook!

  • This game was the showcase game they showed when I went to buy my C64. I thought Id never see this footage again. I did manage to control the 999 robot, but never managed to complete it. I have a amiga emulator, but not c64, be good to have a blast on it again.

  • Absolutely superb game.

To finish it, you had to clear 7 or 8 ships.

Thats a lot of staying power. I loved the flash pulses from the 711 and 741.

  • that means you could completely finish the game??

  • Paradroid rules!!!

  • Best game ever! That and then EXILE for cp64, i still havent finished playing that game.

  • Yeah! Great Game! I remember playing it over and over again. And how often I defeated the 999, but there were still other robots to defeat and I couldn't make it, because you can't keep control over high robots so long, and I already defeated all the lower ones. But one day, I completed the game. One time in my life. It was stress, fun & a lot of work. GREAT MEMORIES!!! =))

  • Recall Paradroid !

  • 476s RULE!

  • 476 indeed rule! One of the most dangerous and impressive robots. I'm officially a fan of 476s :)

  • Andrew Braybrook (author) we salute you !

  • Its out on Virtual Console für Wii.

In Germany, I think in the other Countrys too.

I played the Original long time ago.

I never knewed what to do ^^

  • I would love to see a port or an updated version without losing the gameplay. That would be awesome

  • The creator of the original game actually developed Paradroid 90 for Amiga and Atari ST. As the name indicates, it was released in 1990. If anything, it made gameplay even better while preserving the original idea. I uploaded some footage from it some days ago.

  • Great game. You played a 'host' droid that could inhabit other droids, using their superior firepower. The aim of the game was to eliminate all the droids. I never menaged to complete all the levels - seemed impossible.

  • I used to move this game

  • Thanks for posting this.

Hope it comes to v.c. soon.

  • Been after footage of this for months. I think I know what's going on. Looks cool :)

  • Wow. This game looks odd. Maybe you just have to play it like you said.

    I hate the SFX D:
