After their career is finally over, U2 will not only leave behind one of the biggest footprints in the history of rock, they’ll leave behind one of the biggest footprints in the history of music. Their 'competition' isn't just rock legends like The Beatles, Elvis, Led Zeppelin, and The Rolling Stones-- it's people like Mozart, Beethoven, George Gershwin, and Duke Ellington. They are truly one of the ALL TIME greats. Anyone who doesn't understand this needs to listen to their ENTIRE catalog.
Bono pidió permiso a Gustavo Cerati , para utilizar la misma secuencia programada que tiene en Claroscuro, simplemente eso. De hecho escuche por ahí que Dynamo es uno de los 10 discos favoritos del líder de U2.
Love this quirky song and used to listen to is over and over again riding around Munich of all places. I am smiling pivoted back in time, floating with the music and just loving this band.
No one's probably gonna read this, but I’ll say it anyway cuz I feel at least 1 person will. I'm a young designer and graffiti artist, I know there's a million out there but I feel like my art has a unique individual style.
If you just take a min and give me a chance I'll make you a believer. I would love nothing more than to have a loyal following on youtube. If anyone who reads this could press the "THUMBS UP" others will see it. Just a simple button push will make a huge difference.
I remember when I bought Zooropa (1993) I hated it but I gradually warmed to it over the years. It's a far better album than Pop (1997) because it's much more coherent musically and lyrically!
@breachmania I think he's using a tremolo.. with maybe some delay or reverb... with an octaver or something to change the pitch. The brand or type is beyond me though. I'm sure you can research it though.
@breachmania If you mean the choppy sound in the beginning, it's an guitar effect called tremolo (not to be confused with a "tremolo bar," different thing) - it's also found at the first few seconds of Green Day's "Boulevard of Broken Dreams"
News for Russia: Mosquito kills young boy!!! @kickassaurelius Where do you think the gay fop look with ruffled shirts, tight pants and high heel boots that Prince made so famous during the 80's & 90's come from? ENGLAND! Bono's "Mr. Macphisto" look with the gold suit, high heeled platform boots, falsetto voice and ballerina prancing on the stage is pretty gay so don't be a fucking hypocrite!
im sitting here on my computer.. browsing as usual. I then notice that I had a craving, but didnt know what it was. Then I noticed I was suffering from withdraw, but i still couldnt figure out why. Then I saw a picture of a smiling lemon thats when it hit me! "oh shit!! Lemon..I need to listen to Lemon!". Ahhh my musical crack!! Now I can relax my 19yr old body!. CHILLED!!
only way he could sing this song live without creeping people out is to make Mr. Macphiesto Sing it!!.. I didnt know he was..."weird" til last week, when i first saw the zoo tv tour... great stuff!!
Although Joshua Tree is my personal favorite U2 album, this song is one of the rare gems you come across that transcends musical time periods and genres. What a beautiful, unique creation is 'Lemon'! The diverse combination of musical elements that comprise this track come together magically to inspire - consider its disco beat influence (with its syncopated rhythm), Bono's powerful falsettos, and his introspective lyrics about preserving his memory of a loved one though film - haunting!!
@ginosupernova Exactly, I tell you more, U2 was inspired by song Claroscuro (1992) of Argentinian band Soda Stereo for composing his song Lemmon. U2 one of the greatest rock band in english ( there are so many great bands in english that list would not have end....) Soda Stereo the best rock band in spanish of all times. Cheers from Buenos Aires - Argentina
@TheRockandRollenene A eso me refería. Pero tenés razón mi comentario no se entiende bien. Dicen que en México Bono escuchó Dinamo, y a los dos años en Zooropa apareció Lemon.
Bono's performance of the song on the Zoo TV tour (specifically the performance in Sydney, Australia on DVD) as Macphisto is the best version of this song.
Takes me back to growing up in the warmth of the African sun, with dirt in between my toes listening to this amazing album. Now just the music and memories to smile about. Zooropa and Achtung Baby by far the best two albums, although Joshua Tree is a classic. Their new music is good too, but just something about that era. I feel privilliged to have been a child of the 80's.
a lot of positive comments but what does the song mean? been listening to this song since i been a youngster but never really understood the song. this was never my dig as a kid. so tell me and ride me of ignorance.
"Lead vocalist Bono wrote the lyrics with his late mother in mind. He explains that it was a "strange experience to receive, in the post, from a very distant relative, early Super 8 footage of my mother, aged 24, younger than me, playing a game of rounders in slow motion." The footage showed Bono's mother at a wedding as the maid of honour, wearing a lemon-coloured dress. The film footage inspired Bono to write lyrics about using film to recreate and preserve memory."
Zooropa was influence by the cd "claroscuro" from Soda Stereo. Compare songs: "Lemon - u2" and "Dynamo - Soda Stereo". Remember Dynamo was before. The story tells that Bono during his tour in Mexico in 1992 accept a copy of Dynamo from Soda Stereo and then u2 get the influence for this cd. Im not saying nothing wrong. Influence is comun in music.
