thank you for this video it was very helpful to me in learning how to blend the hair, and i've watched a lot of how to videos. but yours was very informative and to the point.

Hi piepiemushroom, I welcome constructive comments on my training videos, its an excellent way to improve standards. Please inform me why you feel this basic blending in video is awful? It is a training video for new barbers and it concentrates on technique rather than results. Practice heads will never be as good as humans but they do take away nervous fear! I dont have a problem with your opinion - but please do not use swear words - they are not necessary - and they show a lack of respect? KY
Hi daddycubjudah, I use practice heads to teach virtually all the skills of barbering through how to cut, blow dry and dress long, medium , short and very short male hairstyles. As the learner progresses each basic skill is adjusted to the length of the hair. The learner then has the skills to go straight into cutting clients hair? Unlike some long ladies heads they do not have slip on hair. Try getting hold of some old ladies practice heads at your local college? Hope this helps? Kenyon
My question about the practice heads is: Do they have ones where you can get different styles of hair to attach to try out different techniques. I cant imagine buying a whole new practice head each time. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Hi IH8Monkeys? - thank you for the translation - I think I can take the rockin comments as a compliment? I totally agree with you that there is a real danger that when males grow their hair a little longer - which one day they surely will - clipper skilled barbers will have to learn the very critical skills of scissors-over-comb. Good luck with your barbering career. Kenyon
Hi Stuart thank you for your kind comments. It isn't easy transferring from ladies to mens! Get it wrong with a short haircut and you have nothing left to correct! May I suggest you seek advice and instruction from an expereinced barber some distance away from where you work? Go in and have your haircut - explain your problem - he / she may be happy to advise? If you are unsure - dont proceed with the cut. Generally, the zero type haircuts only go to barbers. Hope this helps - good luck. Kenyon
hi kenyon i love your videos pal! ive learnt alot but what it is that im starting my new job in a unisex barbers and i can only do a few mens hair cuts ive never done barbering only did ladies hairdressing :/ so im worried that im going to make a mess if a gent wants a haircut thats 2 advanced. what should i do? stuart
god you make it seem so easy! i just started working and i feel like i go into panic mode whenever i have to start blending the bottom and top! i wish i could be this calm while doing it...
@enjoytheride347 Thanks for the comments - I know exactly how you feel I had to learn it many years ago! Blending in from zero must be one of the hardest skills to master? My advice is to get an old practice head - male or female and practice slowly, not worrying about the whole effect but just the area you are blending in. Kenyon.
its just crazy that ur rockin a comb the whole way thru thats tru barbering though ..like that ...do u have any videos on how to cut straight hair like styles??
Hi gindekhal, thanks you for your comments, I hadn't realised my comb was 'rockin'. I dont think it 'rocks' enough to spoil the graduation though? Regarding a live model - I am a tutor of barbering teaching students from scratch. A practice head is excellent to learn the basic skills without the fear of making a mistake. Once they are competent I demonstrate on live models. I could put a live 'blend in' on YouTube but there are literally thousands of examples. Kenyon
@deepdalebarber Hi..i just read gindekhal's comment about you 'rockin' a comb through the whole cut. I assume gindekhal is American because 'rockin' is an American slang term for something that's really cool. Younger American barbers tend to depend on clipper guards as opposed to the comb method used by the seasoned 'old skool' barbers. Only a true/experienced barber uses the comb as well as you did in this video.
Thanks for the videos they are a great resource tool for us student barbers! Hope to see more of them! and as for the critics I'd like to see your work ,HA!
im not here to criticize your skills in any manner, but you tapered WAAYYY too high and you didn't properly blend the hair. if you try to picture the head from a side angle, you'd see there is a lack of proper blending
Thank you for your comments and I am quite happy to receive constructive criticism. I agree the end result is not perfect but this is a practice head! As it says in the info - this is instruction on practicing techniques. My response is that I teach barbering SKILLS. . My videos are basic instruction to STUDENT BARBERS who may have never seen this technique or had it taught and explained in detail.
