In the middle east divorce is basically not an option. pure miserable marriages. Marriage by society and tradition which does not include divorce. It is off the table. How about being single is in the heart.
But if there was no divorce option then some people might not try so hard ? On the other hand if you fear they will leave you might not be assertive enough. What if your partner has become obssessed with a minor point, how do you help them to see past it ? Does it work to say, " Stop right there, we've covered all that, please tell me something positive, some hobby / interest that you have read " To build up good memories and forget the old bone.
Good points there. Sometimes you just want a holiday from your partner. Probably best to try to focus on the happy moments in the marriage, look to a happy future, try not to focus on the negative things that happened.
