  • that,must have taken foreber

  • Not sure if I get the Fallen Angel vibe or the gay bondage S&M vibe.

  • 1:53 BATMAN DOES NOT APROVE!

  • hey if it is not to much trouble could you post a video on how you made the wings? i myself am trying to make wings kinda like that and me and my dad just dont know how to make it work.

  • the wings are incredible! the best costume i've seen in a long time.

  • That is a beast costume!!! I love the wings!

  • I wish I was able to create such amazing costumes . . . *Sigh*

  • Hey, I'm curious what the base of that harness is. The part where the wing bones (tubes) meet the wooden harness board. That metal bit. I'm making my own pair and would definitely appreciate the help, thanks!

  • gayfest

  • Unrealistic shape is your complaint??? Seriously? You must be the perpetual glass half empty guy. Instead of looking it and going wow that guy did alot of work, all you have is criticism. Everyone these days, "i can do that better, if i felt like it." Right. If you think you can do better then show us, after you spend the $1,400. The old adage is still the best, if you cant say something nice....and no i'm not exempt but you started it. Awesome job on the wings!!

  • Unrealistic shape, he would be bottom heavy an only be able to flap like a chicken

  • How long did it take you to prepare only the wings?

And can I use the same method, and do that they won't open?

  • Music ====== DJ Visage The Return

  • can u say Maximum ride cosplay

  • Tutorial...for the love of god...tutorial!

  • How long did it take to make these? (:

  • i see you got wings... but can you fly?

  • so why is this guy carrying around a pelican in his backpack?

  • how do you make them move???

  • Whats the song for this?

  • Those are some sexy wings! :)

  • Anybody else notice this is like the cool beat version of the song step brothers sung at the cadalina wine mixer...?

  • Quite impressive, but you should really do some research on the structure of wings next time. It might make them look better xD

  • I'm just as fabulous as my wings.

  • im batman

  • GAY-BRIEL!

  • although costume is cool you look like a very GGGAAAYYY angel! maybe angel GAY-BRIEL!!!

  • Amazing...

  • awesome outfit.

  • DUCT TAPE

  • what is the name of the song playing

  • BUT WILL IT BLEND?

  • How much for one?

  • and where did you buy the feathers

  • What did you use to make it

  • How much did that cost???

  • Now the question is can you fly?

  • Doesn't it took jears to feather this Wings?

  • Im going to make my own Angel wings... you have inspired me to do so.:)

  • i think i saw you at sakura con 2011, it was amazing how they moved :0

  • please tell me you used this for a con or something more than just one night? :') they're to awesome to only use once

  • @mewanime5995

I wore the costume at five halloween costume contests and won 1st place at two events, 2nd place at two other events, and honorable mention.

Last year I wore the costume to Seattle's Comicon and SakuraCon events.

  • No offence.. but standing next to batman like that with a sleeveless shirt makes you look like his bum boy.

  • how much did this cost

  • @xEpicAndrew

About $1,400 US for the whole project.

A second pair of wings would be considerably less (around $800) given that hardware tools like saws, drills, glue guns, heat guns, clamps, etc... are reuseable. The cost of construction materials like feathers, wire, adhesives, backpack, etc... cost me about $1,000 US - much of the added cost was research and development through trial and error.

  • @atgrigg78 yeah ill just stick with my cardboard steve...

  • Great wings by the way! ;D

  • Hello! I have a question, the pipe thingy that you used as a base/reinforcement, did it include cardboard and wiring on top of it as well?

  • Wicked. :)

  • Hello there, i have a question would anyone please reply on it?

At the beginning on 0:09 you see ''Life sized Blueprint''.

Well as i'm from Netherland i don't understand what it means.

What do you use for it? Wood,Plastic,Carton?

    Please help me.

    x

  • @HolyBeast95

The life-sized blueprint is a construction diagram drawn to scale, in this case the scale is 1:1, meaning there is no reduction in size. Normally blueprints are drawn at a smaller scale so the entire project can fit onto one sheet of paper. Sketching or drawing a project that is the same size as your body requires a very large piece of paper. I used construction paper measuring 3ft x 6ft

  • good job (Y), 2:01 gay family :)

    xDDD

  • impressive build, very awesome :)

  • This is awesome! I just wonder how did you get some of your material like the feathers, pipes, silver piece? I really love this!

  • @MercerRequiem

I used two and a half pounds of 10-12 inch black tom turkey feathers, that's a little over 550 feathers. Each mature male turkey can yield between 24 - 48 feathers of that lenght. So, of all the turkeys killed for thanksgiving, I purchased the feathers of about 18 birds.

  • I'm trying to make a small-scale version of articulated wings, similar to these. I've heard of people using harnesses other than backpacks (corset, armor, etc), which would be nice since the rest of my costume is supposed to be (sort-of) lightweight and fitted, but I've been unable to find examples. Suggestions?

  • I was just thinking of where I had heard the start of this song before. Step Brothers! That film is funny :)

  • magnificent. :j

  • what type of pipes are they??

  • @zombieloving1

    PVC 3/4" 400PSI

  • wow.. that are cool!!!!

  • where did you get the feathers?

  • @Amarynthine

    rainbowfeatherco (dot) com

  • o.o wow. where have I heard that song before though. Hmm. anyway great work on that. Looks awesome.

  • Awesome costume dude, but I had to watch it on mute. Change the song

  • Amazing

  • They are completely amazing <3 <3 <3

  • Wow genious O_O

This must be really really heavy and prolly was a pain in the axx to place all the feathers. But wow wow love it.

  • @kieira4ever

The wings are about 30lbs - that is mostly due to the 7 tubes of construction adhesive (liquid nails) used to bond the feathers to the frame. Hot Glue is about ¼ the weight but the bond is very weak and will fail.

Each feather took about 2-3 minutes to attach with zip-ties plus an additional minute to apply the construction adhesive over the zip-ties, 24hrs later you have a permanent bond. Later I used hot glue for quick and fast feather repairs.

  • Really cool!! :)

  • woaw i love them *3*

    how much cost the material???

  • @LizzyxAPH

The total investment for cost of materials, building tools, research & development through trial and error altogether was about $1400 over the course of 8 months.

  • @atgrigg78 O.O thats to much for me *sniff*

  • wow!!!!

  • Amazing, genius x)

  • how about a video?

  • @mrkiky

Please read this video's description for the live video of the wings.

  • awesome what kind of feather did you use?

  • @iSMITH4life

2 1/2 pounds of Turkey Tom Feathers - dyed black

  • @atgrigg78 ok thanks man.

  • How did you do to make them move?

  • @Hanyou1993

    With fairy dust... :)

  • @atgrigg78 goddamne itXD oh well, then I ques I beter go find some:P

  • @Hanyou1993

I used bicycle brake line cables attached to the outer wing section that pulls the wings open by way of a gate hinge mounted on the main frame.

  • How much will you charge me to make me a pair .

  • Can you make me a pair just like this

  • Super love it ..!!

    Great job..!!

  • Awsome! Sooo jealous! I wish I could make something like this!

  • I would die for those wings hehee

  • how did you attach the feathers?

  • @kissmEImAgliProject Feathers were attached using zip-ties and construction adhesive

  • But does it fly?

  • Could you send me a tutorial on how to make these??? They are epic!!!

  • @05kingj

This will get you started -

    1. obtain two 4ftx8ft sheets of butcher paper - i had to go to the local college and a costume / party store to aquire the paper - the college was about 2x the cost.

    2. have a friend trace an out line of your body - mid thigh to head leaving about a foot above youre head.

    3. draw a sketch of how big you want the wings to be in the open position. saving the second sheet for blue print and mechanical measurements

  • @atgrigg78 Yup got them what's next???

  • @05kingj

    - Tools you'll need - power drill w/ a drill bit set, circular saw, heat gun, and vice grips.

    - Find a comfortable backpack and cut off the "pack" leaving just the shoulder straps and back support panel

    - Cut a piece of 1 inch plywood to fit the backpack's back and attach using short wood screws and construction adhesive (liquid nails).

    - Next depends on your blue print measurements, but I used 10ft of 3/4 inch 400PSI PVC pipe and two 3/4 inch right angle elbows and two gate hinges.

  • thats the name of the song

  • Beautiful..... (:-)

  • WE SCREAM, WE SHOUT, WE ARE THE FALLEN ANGELS!

  • Do you have a listing of what materials you used to make the wing frame or a video showing you making it step by step)? I am looking to make something very similar but more closely resembling bat wings (sans feathers). Any advice you could give would be great! Thanks

  • Awesome~ hopefully my friend and me can make a wing like yours! XD ...ish we want to make it move like yours... ><; but like with only one wing...I might tip over lol oh well XD

  • The wing folding looks backwards since when a bird folds it's wings the primary kinda covers the secondary... however you have the secondary covering the primary. >.<

  • Oh my gosh, they're so beautiful and realistic :)

  • um... would you consider making those for another person and shipping them; how much would you charge?

  • @AdriannaLaTorre Yes I will, but the wings are very expensive and have yet to produce any serious inqueries. All together the cost of materials, man-hours worked and shipping will likely exceed $1900.00 US (does not include armor). A non-refundable deposit would be needed up front to aquire the supplies needed for construction. Once started the project may take up to 8 weeks to complete depending on availability of supplies. Updates on construction would be posted regularly.

  • I was watching your asylum progress now I see you created another use for it and it is ingenious.

  • Where do you get the feathers?

  • @werewolfgirl221 the feathers are from "rainbowfeatherco"

  • Q: Where did I get the Feathers?

A: I ordered the feathers from rainbowfeatherco(dot)com. I used about 500 Turkey feathers. Specifically, Tom Turkey (male) "rounds" 1 lb right wing and 1 lb left wing and 1/2 lb plumage feathers that I glued to window screening for the upper portion of the wings.

  • ok just wondering how did you manage to make the wings fold and unfold its making me crazy

  • Hey atgrigg, was wondering if I could get some input on the moldings you made for this costume. I want to start making molds but can't figure it out. aj2k3@aol.com...thanks!

  • @scikotics You will want to visit smooth-on(dot)com's website for mold making kits.

  • Okay, question.

    1. Where can I get the supplies from? Can I get these at a Lowe's or something?

    2. Where do I get the feather's? Do I need to order them online?

    3. Awesome job on the wings, I wish to do the same xD

  • awesome!!!!! XD i want a pair of wings!!!!

  • crazy, very epic! how much would it cost to get one made?? I am not sure how those are really put together.

  • The song is by DJ visage titled "The Return"

  • that is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!! bout a month ago i was thinking it would be cool to make a set of wings that could fold in and out, but couldn't really find stuff for it....btw, EXCELLENT costume...

  • I am working on a pair of wings that are going to be about the length of your wings. I was wondering about how many feathers did it take to make yours? And where did you buy them from? As well as I would love to know the name of the song you used for this video! Thank you for your time, I look foreward to hearing from you.
