Fact: Social Security will not run out of funds any time soon but the GOP hopes it will. If NOTHING is done, there are enough funds to pay current benefits through 2040. See: the Trustees Report, Social Security. Why are GOPPS politicizing this issue? It's a top down campaign. Secondly, REAGAN doubled the size of the Federal Bureaucracy and TRIPLED deficit. How much of that do you think went to 'social programs' CLUE: NONE! Reagan enriched those ALREADY rich. @UGABB In fact, my height/weight ratio is very nearly perfect. I bike and work out. My pulse is steady, blood pressure normal and I can be heard across an auditorium without shouting and without breaking a sweat. I credit biking, hiking, some weight training and good diet. @lennhart Your right on everything you said except for stating Jimmy Carter is among our nation's best presidents. A lot of things were not due to him. He is bashed unfairly by the right, but i have two problems with Carter. Wind fall profits tax and DIDMCA. Carter was better than Clinton though. To me the best Democrat was Grover Cleveland. Reagan was a disappointment cause he didn't reduce spending. His message was great and that will always give me a positive view of him

@lennhart I think Warren G Harding and Calvin Coolidge were better than Clinton. Clinton took money from SS trust funds (a program i disagree with) and had too high of taxes. And his attempted at universal healthcare was scary. The GOP disappoints me on its empire of the world mindset and involvement with the CIA and businesses, but both parties do it. Their are GOP candidates i like, such as Ron Paul, Justin Amash, B.J. Lawson, when Peter Schiff was running. They support free markets & Liberty

You're right that bankers are a lot to blame for the crash, but who supplied them with the money? Look at what the FED does. I'm surprised that not many people could see the crash happening. EXAMPLE: SS is solvent for another 40 years if NOTHING is done to it or with it. Whenever someone lies about something like SS, I always go to the original source.
