  • I love her hair and dress!! :)

  • you know what? Drugs or not we have to realize that artists are human. They are not going to remain teh same beautiful and equaly talented for ever. We dont look just like in 1987.Its not fair to ask the artist remain teh same. The you pay for a show and leave disapointed cause you expected the Whitney from 1987.So wake up people.SHe was young beautiful and talented, nobody can take that form her.ANd shes still awonderful artist and woman.Time pass for all of us,and we all make mistakes

  • What a show up...Dionne go's to hug someone, realises it's Julian Lennon and STOPS herself...then they BOTH ignore him LMAO!!

  • They always had her walkin down stairs lol

  • she is still beautiful. and she is and always will be THE VOICE. and NO ONE sings live today. and who ever gives credit to GOD and family? NO ONE. she is and always will be the last best great vocalist.

  • What a inspiration on how to sing so effortlessly.

  • SHE DIDN'T THANK ME!!!

  • My God, she was so breathtakingly beautiful. And that voice with this particular performance made you feel every note she sang deep down inside inside ur soul. It's so easy to forget just how GREAT she was. I don't care what she has done in her personal life before, this is raw talent and I love it!

  • That made me cry!

  • You know what? I wish everybody would stop knocking Whitney Houston because she had a downfall as we all have had. The same God that brought unto her the voice, the success can restore it again. She is an amazing talent and there will NEVER be another singer in this century like her. She is real talent, not doing a whole lot of dancing and theatrics, she just sang. Not walking around half naked, her voice is all she needed, and its still there. In GOD'S own time, she will rise again.

  • @gregilicious85 you should check out her performance of "i will always love you" from her tour in 2010. it shows that she still has her voice, not as powerful but still magnificent.

  • Does anybody know what note is when she says no other "man"?

  • huh im glad tina made but damn whitney

  • ...because her voice is so beautiful that is

  • Everytime I listen to her voice I just wanna cry

  • simplemente GENIAAAL

  • il bet u whitney probably dont look at her old videos...it must be so hard 4 her. that beautiful, that talented all in one. i wonder if her daughter has any of the tone her mother did in her voice.

  • @tasibho hope she does.

  • The Best voices come from church. Makes you think.

  • "But that's just an old fantasy...I've got toooooo get ready." Baby did you all see how she changed that up and took the whole song to another level live...Honey THAT is Whitney Houston...Man I sure hope a serious change takes place in her life, inside. Hope she takes a break and finds that Greatest Love of all inside, and revives herself. I hope she nurtures her voice, takes better care of it. I hope she finds her joy in music again and comes back in a fresh new sense of self and rocks it baby!

  • @Kenandave

From your lips to G_d's ears! Well SAID!

  • @drbayoms Thank you Boo :-)

  • I'm so moved watching this. I love you Whitney.

  • I love whitney hopefully rehab is gonna really help her

  • god such a waste of talent. Damn u Bobby Brown!

  • @calvinmclean1983 This is a warning from a man to women: KNOW HOW TO PICK YOUR MEN OR ELSE STOP BITCHING!! Women pick the worse men, lowering their standards and dignity, in order not to be alone. i'd rather be alone than with some person who drains me and is a bad influence. I wish Whitney had stayed alone. Her voice suffered because of her drug addiction and Bobby.

  • @calvinmclean1983 Please DO NOT blame Bobby. Whitney's an adult and she made the choice to USE or NOT. BTW ... I ADORE Whitney.

  • I can't believe she was only 22 here. 22! Wow.

  • She is an angel fallen from heaven

  • Oh man...she makes meh feel SO good...ahm happy for her...she is a legend man...an incredible legend!!

  • she was nervous! i can hear it in her voice

  • @dyonne0216 It's her first big awards show...and she STILL gives a performance like this..."nervous"?? who GIVES a fuk...she was inCREDible man!!And P.S: yoo must have supersonic ears, coz ah have incredible hearing and she sounds great to meh!!Yoo should apply to N.A.S.S.A or summat...listening to other worldly sub sonic sounds from Mars or some shit...coz yoo muss have 12foot ears!!

  • @TheMrMarilyn i wasnt bashing her...simply making an observation...I love me some Whitney.. Lets Not get it twisted..or Rude... Thanks :)

  • ta pra nascer voz e talento maior q o da Whitney!! eternamente terá o seu lugar

  • @ccjoey she had it all

  • It's hard to hit the scene-and maintain it- with your first single being a classic.

  • @amd77j But she DID though huh!!

  • @TheMrMarilyn Makes her career all the more amazing.

  • เอาเสียงสวยๆของชีกลับมาเดี๋ยวนี้!!!

  • whitney's first grammy performance...EVER!!

  • @ccjoey she dont have the best voice of all time...and now she aint got one at all silly girl, she doesnt rank with people like Ella, Sassy and Nina or even Dionne, Roberta, Gladys, Aretha, or even Tina. She burned out too soon but I have to admit her 1989 Grammy performance of One moment in time is one of the best ever Grammy performances

  • @goolagong68 And who are yoo exactly...the arbiter of justice in the sonic hall of legends!!?Ah guarantee...if yoo asked ALL those yoo mentioned, they would ALL give Whitterz the highest of praise, coz legends know legends...great singers know and understand singing, and can hear just how incredible her voice was...twit

  • @goolagong68 She does have the best voice....FACT...LOL tina better than her? Gladys? ROFL!!! GET OUT!

  • Love her

  • go baby!i know u will have that moment in time again

  • I still remember watching this show live.

My heart was instantly stolen.....like the way the words go in the song..

Nippy I will always love you..... and so many fans of you....

The memories of you will live forever....within our heart and soul

    Mr. T

  • I still remember watching this show live.

Nippy I will always love you..... and so many fans of you....

    Mr. T

  • I still remember watching this show live.

Nippy I will always love you.....

  • she's my Barbie :DD ♥♥♥ Lol

  • What year was this???? folks??

  • @cadu1995 1986.

  • @unusualscandalous 1986? Is that supposed to mean something?

  • @cadu1995 You asked what year this was, so I told you. You don't remember your question??

  • Wow she is sooo pure in that video!!!!!!

  • She looks like a barbie like this! She's wonderful.

  • La thanks god that whitney existed in my time on earth, because I think dat for the next 1000 years voice like des will not happen again...

  • the queen of love songs,,,,,,

  • This is a wonderful song!

  • ohh AWESOME video! She was such a cutie, such a beautie, such a little hottie! And her voice, HER VOICE! Its so easy for her..! Allmost unfair. Im in awe! Lovely Whitney!

  • i was in he in industry at that time and when whitney hit the charts there was never ever anything like her ever before or will be.THE one and only world phenomenon she has set the standards for others to come and yet no one has ever matched that voice or stamina on stage.SHE WILL ALWAYS BE A STANDARD FOR THE MUSIC INDUSTRY .

  • @mariophilippo i always thought she reminded me of a new ella fitzgerald. with her crystal clear voice that comes out like butter

  • splendide tout simplement divine

  • Wow. I remember watching the live telecast of this performance. Thank you for posting it. What a treasure she is. And, she's still here for us to treasure her.

  • Cissy said in her book Whitney had a panic attack before going out, she was terrified of performing in front of industry like this. She actually was going to cancel going to the Grammys. But Cissy pushed her, saying the people wouldn't know she was scared, they'd think she was stuck-up. So they went, and you know how it turned out.

  • @ccjoey You nailed it!!!! A lot of young people don't know THIS Whitney!!

  • This woman is so incredibly beautiful and talented, it's almost unfair to the rest of us. So what if she's had struggles in her life...so has every single other person on the planet.

  • i kinda teared when i saw her mom here, i felt the pride and the happiness. your daughter up on stage.. singing her heart out.. with an awesome voice.. :)

  • i cried when they announce whitney's name as a winner.... Whitney your the best!

  • she's gorgeous

  • Check out Whitney doing this song (Welcome Home Heroes ) on here - it's super great!!!

  • it's so sad. look at wha she used to be, and what she is now. why did she do it to herself. sad sad sad :(

  • @place2bee

and comments likes yours are, old old old :)

  • whats nice is that her cousin dionne warwick gave her the award

  • MAN! What happened?? Oh yea..drugs..nevermind. I almost forgot how good she sounded until i saw this video. And yea.. i forgot she had the choice to be either a model or a singer. I think she chose the right thing. Modeling seems boring to me..lol!

  • @neetrab , She was a model before she was a singer lol.. and it wasn't just drugs that hurt her vocals even though she can still sing!!!

  • lol she sounds so cute! hee hee!

  • I lovee her so much !

  • god i am in this situation :-( i don't wish to anybody to go through, same time the feeling is so great...

  • who are the 3ppl who dont like this?

whitney houston is one of the greatest singers to ever set foot

    on this earth!

  • the girl who had it all! oh where did it go wrong whitney.

  • she is so beautiful, with the voice to match, perfect loving it

  • @ccjoey So, so true and that is what makes what has eventually happened all the more a tragedy: the loss of that stunning voice by her own actions. It will be missed.

  • @cj7849

Hey lay off! Enough with the "too bad, so sad" comments. This woman's voice is timeless, priceless, UN-RIVALED... We love Whitney for who she was and is. Funnny how so many people appreciate her more now. They hear about her current carreer and it makes them go back to 2001 and before to hear what use to be. And what use to be was unprecedented and forever a part of music as well as Americana. And what we have now is a healthy Whitney and we love her all the more.

  • Calm down Clive! LOL

Whitney just amazing. I remember this like it was yesterday. She was such a revelation.

  • Whitney is the best at what she did, I did say what she did, I do know people talk about how she is not the same and that is true but her voice is not the same due to smoking but it also changed with age. the older she get the more her voice will change of course had she not started with the smokes she could have perserved it a little longer Classic Whitney no one can do what she did.

  • wow amazing..

  • This is so much better than Mariah's first Grammy performance

  • @dongnguyen25 i do not agree with Lady gaga comments, she attract people to listen and to see her on a stage because is nake and dress like a clown. vocally i think live is a waste of money to see

  • 80's hair......wow!

  • she was so hot in your young days

  • That saxophone play in the background is powerful!

  • wow

  • Love it

  • What yeaar was this? '85??

  • @babbina It was the 1986 grammys. This song came out in 85.

  • A DIVA VOLTOU !!!!!!!!!

  • perfect belts!

  • Agree with you all... she is a sad shadow of her former self.... and what a waste of a magnificent talent. I remember seeing her on a show in the UK when she sang I will always love you and she got a standing ovation..... she was so unique :(

  • WHAT in the world is this wonder woman doing with her VOCAL codes? It is a MIRACLE..man...MIRACLE... da God.. faint..even a MAN..like me...

  • @ssehram A miracle, and she was nervous doing this performance too and still gave 100%.

  • @ccjoey

I still love Whitney, enough said !

  • Yes but these memories of her prime era are all we got now.

  • whitney's music is legendary. i will forever be loving her.

  • i love ths performance bc she was at grace at this point in her life and still even now nobody can fuck with this lady and this is the truth this is what these bitches wish they had at this age she is at on this video!!!!!

  • Sorry. Most of the divas now sing better now than Whitney. The drugs did her in. She was wonderful, now she is a pathetic and desperate singer screaming out of tune. I miss the Whitney you are seeing right now in this video.

  • @nichtsleezy

sang better than her in this performnace???like who??? give me a good example

  • dont compare lady gaga or any artists in this present time coz they cud never be like whitney...

    WHITNEY is such a legend...

  • @claireannamistoso : yes I agree absolute with you.

  • she said it used to be just weed in these days.On and off.

  • @HERBLANDZ I never heard her say any of that..Im so sick of u all being like the media and twisting her words around!..she gave her open and final interview with oprah about the drugs...and she said it didnt start ..and didnt escalate until the bodyguard years..and she gave a specific year and said it was like near the end of 94 /95 so stop with the lies...she wasnt doing any drugs..but occassionally she would smoke cigarettes and that was it!

  • @phinetopsc How can it start and escalate at the same time you sound dumb>it would have to start before it could escalate. She was using it then start lacing weed wit coke and so on so on so on shit head

  • @HERBLANDZ Im going to take the higher road..and let everyone see how much integrity you have..using all the vulgar language and being totally disrespectful..and also you sound dumb...if she told OPRAh that it was jus light back in the day..she didnt say what year..nor what age she started...all she said was "It was very light" so where do u get weed from? just because she said it was "LIGHT" explain..

  • @HERBLANDZ Further more like i said and by her own admission ..she never said she was using drugs during this time...Im just going to leave it at that..and just wish u a good day..and GOD bless and please dont bother responding back..btw..grow up..and learn how to debate...without sabatoging the conversation with the bad language...PEACE

  • oh my god, please, give me a voice like that next life!

  • @lucy0loves0music Me too.

  • @lucy0loves0music Whitney didn't GET her voice, it's all a result of hard work. Hours of practising every day. You make it sound like she just got her talent out of nowhere.

  • @dongnguyen25 I agree with you, Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston are the greatest and no one can surpass them, REAL talent is what they have. Two of my favorite artists in the world. Love you both!

  • lets not forget Mariah Carey... Shes incredible to and as succesful as Whitney Houston both amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Totally Agree!

  • she looked so beautiful here

  • Who now can sing like that?

  • Why everyone sing about that crazy b!tch all over youtube... everytime I see a whitney video you speak about this velasquez "supposedly" songbird! she ain't got nothing to say, don't talk about her! she barely sing compared to gospel trained singer like whitney!

  • This was the good old days like TWENTY some odd years ago..HER DEBUT...!!!... and yes she sings in a lower register but damn she still sings...!!!...:-)

  • Anyone know the name of that cool 80s hairstyle she's rocking?

  • i wonder i mj liked her i heard he did

  • I watch this...then look how all the ' new fans'...show loads of aggression when the older ones among us say ' whats happened'.........don't they HEAR the difference?..........every 5 years Whitneys voice changed beyond recognition.....

  • i don't think it's so much a matter of hearing the difference as it is appreciating the music that she shared for so many years. I say, if all you care about is the quality of her instrument, go buy her old records. If you can't listen to her later performances and hear that she is a magnificent artist, I don't think you're appreciating a real master at work.

  • ..so Witneys GMA concert was a 'master at work' was it?...sorry, we just don't live on the same planet....

  • GMA was a bad day, but her performance on Oprah was an amazing display of her artistry. Not saying her voice is the same, but when her voice is rested it is as powerful as ever.

  • EXACTLY , i know what you mean...True talent was found in these times....Its just these times are more for show than true talent.

  • This live performance later won Nippy an Emmy.

  • and pray for her to get out of the drugs!!! she's ..or was a very good singer..i had a crush on her too and im 21 hahaha..i always thought she was pretty and a ver very good singer..and that song is my favorite...and yes..it's better when she sings it live. i hat the m...f... who got her into the drugs..

  • My dad always told me he had the biggest crush on her! She was America's sweetheart in the 80s

  • Vanna White was also in the category too

  • gosh, i love this song so much.. and its even better when she sings it live =] i pray no one attempts to cover this song. this cannot be touched.

  • OMG

  • that voice!

  • First of all, no one but her knows why she started drugs, and it could possibly have been that very same career that she cared about that attributed to the drug abuse. I won't say I know why she did it because I don't. But I do know that she was raised in the church. So if her faith helped her recovery no matter how long it took, who are you to say otherwise. 95% of the time Whitney sings live, so try looking for more of her vids cause there's plenty, especially when at her prime.

  • If Beyonce tries to jack this song like she jacked Etta James' song, I will flip the eff out fa reals! Only Whit Whit can touch this - classic!! What a diva AND she believes God brought her through tough times. She can only go up when she gives up praise to God like that on Oprah!

  • Whitney actually jacked the song in the first place (Marilyn Martin and Billy Davis Jr. of the 5th Dimension!)

  • omg! I never knew that - I knew she didn't write alot of her songs, but I thought they were written specifically for her (w/ the exception of I will always love you by dolly parton & Greatest Love of All). Well, she still has the soul & voice that is distinctively hers and she doesn't have to scream like the singers nowadays. She's so classy & beautiful - the grace is effortless. I'm soooo glad she came back!!

  • so sad that she is wasted,i still love her thou

  • she's coming back. her album ROCKS! you gotta believe babe:-)

  • 1st Blk Princess!

  • DAMN THiS iS WHEN SHE WAS THE SHiT

  • My all time favorite song. Gives me chills everytime I hear it.

  • i had shivers the whole time!!!

and shes so effing gorgeous, i hate her!!! im just joking, i love her so much, but i do hate how humble and did i mention how effing gorgeous she is :p

she was so cute, and humble...crac does evil things :(

  • The hug with Whitney and Dionne. Just a great moment

  • Truly a timeless performance ..

  • crack is a helluva drug

  • Whitney

  • Even if she had only sang one song to be shared with us... it was more than enough. Always gives me goosebumps and tears in my eyes to listen to her.. I hope she knows how much her fans appreciate her :)
