  • What I love more about him is his integrity

He didn't join the Stones cause he knew he was greater than them

I'm proud to share the planet with Rory

  • Real stuff this is.

  • this is some piece of music history.i play this album in the car all the time ,i get strange looks from teeagers wondering what the f***** hell is that ,but they tell me later that guy was just savage.great testament i think.to a genius at work .god bless Rory Gallagher !

  • Best piece ever. He puts his life into stage performance..thats not just a performance..its him. Awesome.

  • Some fuckers disliked this? WTF. Pure class.

  • Rory's the master !!!!!

  • the BEST of the best!!!!!!!! just Rory!!!!

  • @dimister THE BEST!! OF!! THE BEST!!!

  • my favorite version that he does of this song. it makes me weep. but the video is shit, self-indulgent videographer shit, plus the sound track is out of sync with the video. it's a shame that the heaven sent talent that this man possesses was documented in this instance in such a fuck all way. i can envision the film maker standing in front of his monitor accepting the applause as his. long live rg!!!!!!

  • Unfortunately, Rory was a great musician....

  • @zOOmzOOmzOOm911911

I suppose it's a great thing rather than misfortune.

  • @jameat3r Yep, it seems that great artist are critically endangered ... crying.

  • Love les mouettes.

  • HOW CAN HE NOT BE FAMOUS?????

    FFS

  • When I was but a boy... great memories...

  • epic hair at 7:12 :P

  • φυγαμε για Κορκ σου λεω

  • sOOOOO Goooood

  • When I started playing the guitar I was watching this on VHS a few years back and said: 'I want to be as good as Rory Gallagher.' I'm no where near that good. But I'll strive, because he is an inspiration to the common man. To the self taught musician.

  • This makes me happy! Rory lives!

  • Awsome guitar

  • what a master!!!!

  • I lke to swap 500 ladies gagas, 300 biepers and the whole MTV shit against 1 Rory Gallagher.

    Is that a deal ?

  • @Liesbeth328 Yeah, it would be a great deal, if it was for me! But in this commercialised world many people have lost the ability to recognize true value and pure honest passion! Rory Lives On!

  • @Liesbeth328 no, more gagas

  • Comment removed

  • @Liesbeth328 no it aint. what the hell am i supposed to do with that bunch of suckers? i'll keep that gallagher dude. well, unless you ad one clapton, one dylan and two knopflers to those 500 gagas and keep the biebers, then we might talk again...

  • @Liesbeth328 failure, error, my friend. You cannot mention all that trash along the side of Rory Gallagher.

  • @PurpleAndZeppelin

    There you have a point.

I saw Rory twice, once in Rotterdam and once in Amsterdam live. During a performance, there was a car-free Sunday. Everyone could only leave in the morning with the 06.00 train to home. So Rory played the entire night. Memorable. An unique guitarist too.

    Take care.

  • @Liesbeth328 Deal!

  • @Liesbeth328 Ah heck, you can throw in about 100 more "top acts" from the last 20 years and it'd still be a bargain!

  • @MedeaTor

Instead of a lot of “rock artist” from today, Rory should be seen on stage where he was the happiest.

His low strat sound especially between 1.10 and 1.20 is awesome.

I/m wondering if you would be able to pick up that quitar, or it burns you.

    Take care.

  • Brilliant bit of film of a brilliant guitarist!! Thanks to the original poster!!!

  • PURE JOY on his face!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Stunning...jaw dropping...amazing

  • IMHO, the most overlooked guitarist of the scene blues / rock. Less acclaimed that Eric Clapton, but with a career more homogeneous than him. Rory made no concessions and was faithful to his superb style until his early death.

  • whos that one man that disliked it? really, i would like to speak with him.. to figure out how idiot he must have been to dislike this "orgasm"....

  • Any one remember the live album of Rorys' ? the silver one I think it had red writing !

  • @jsilence418 aye it the irish tour live album called Irish Tour '74 its the songs cut from Tony Palmers video of the same name

  • @dangall08 Thanks dude !

  • STUNNING1

  • 2.22 agapw ton sgouromalli...:) <3

  • good video

  • AWESOME VID--LIKED IT!!

  • Rory almost have sex with his guitar... amazing...

  • Rory is PURE rock n roll, no gimmicks just pure raw talent ...........a legend

  • ballyshannon 2011 was the bees knees, saw rory live in the 80s he is the best of the rest

  • Who disliked this? Honestly own up! Fools.

  • epic

  • can you see??? he is talking to the Fender....and she plays!!!! Rory Forever!!!!!!

  • Yes, there's a splice on this at 4:50 or so that is different from the album version. This is still very good.

  • THE BEST

  • Great music. What a shame that sound and picture aren't sync.

  • τα σπαει ο rory.......

  • Total control of that Strat. Quite lovely.

  • Gallagher, unico, incomparable, sublime,

La gente que no lo escucho antes es por que el tenia miedo a volar, a salir de su Irlanda Natal.

Pero yo lo descubri en mis primeros años, y cuando vino a madrid vi lo que era jugar con una guitarra en vivo.. fue Total

  • just brilliant

  • The thing that always gets me about Rory isn't the pure talent, but the fact that he was so obviously enjoying every second of it... I don't think I've ever seen him without that huge smile on his face...

  • one of the best things ever

  • Probably the greatest peice of music I have ever heard

    Absolute genius

  • where is the solo?

  • HOLY amazing SHEIT! Wow, this is GREAT!!

Rory the way we LOVE him (those who do). Totally at ease, at the peak of his liveliness and skills, enjoying himself and where he leads himself soloing away into his very own and very irish world.

Great intro, great camerawork, thanks for taking us places only Rory can lead us!

  • The best live verzion of this song HAPPY ST PATRICKS DAY

  • all may be very true.. idont understand your bitterness towards a festival in his honour though,,i stick by my original statement..hes the Pride of Donegal

  • @oranbhoy67 Im not bitter towards the festival, I realize that my comments were a bit unfair towards its a great festival i'm sure. However Rory was from Cork, he grew up there and was far more associated with Cork and the fact he was born in Donegal is irrelevant. hes the pride of Cork.

  • @littlefirestarter He's not the pride of Cork or Donegal. HE IS THE PRIDE OF IRELAND!! Stop bickering over stupid technicalities and just enjoy the music!!

  • I just love him he is the best man

  • He has angel face and soul of blues I love you Rory

  • Pride of Donegal

  • @oranbhoy67 Pride of Cork I'm sure you mean

  • @littlefirestarter nope i mean pride of Donegal,,were he was born & where his parents came from & where theres a statue of him as well as a festival every year in his honour!

  • @oranbhoy67 well i meant pride of Cork where he grew up, where his mother was from, where he returned to regularly after touring and recording, where he himself called home. Correct me if im wrong but his family moved from Donegal when he was 1 year old and to the best of my knowledge never returned. The statue and the festival have nothing to do with Rory, thats just Ballyshannon council trying to round up tourists by flogging mercilessly the fact he was simply born there.

  • @littlefirestarter nothing to do with Rory?? well of course not seeing as he passed,,& it was his mothers wish to cast a statue of him in bronze,,& his brother donal is appearing there opening it this year,,well at least donegal or ballyshannon show there pride in Rory being born there, what has Cork done to commemorate the man,,cash in it might be or more a labour of love from the comitee of fans who run it which attracts thousands from around the world each year,to celebrate rorys life & music

  • @oranbhoy67 well Cork Rocks for Rory is a big festival that happens for him every year, there's a commemorative statue for in Rory Gallagher Square in Cork City not to mention countless restaurants and place of interest that commemorate him, he recieved a waterford crystal trophy from the lord mayor of cork, his funeral mass was held in Cork with thousands of Cork people in attendance and his grave is in Cork. Cork has done loads for Rory, not just shamelessly cash in on his fame.

  • @oranbhoy67 How about we look at what Rory has done for Cork. Founded the Macroom Mountain dew festival, recorded live at the Cork opera house, played in Cork every Christmas/New Years, bought his famous Stratocaster in Cork, founded Taste in Cork etc, etc.

  • His soul are feeling in every track...in this song fast rythm of drums supplement with loud and quiet guitar sessions that make his music very sensory

  • rory gallerger was a legend so under aprreciated

  • @Girlintheboxstudios Gallagher

  • Can anyone tell me who the people here are; as in the drummer, bassist, and keyboardist, obviously not Rory

  • @cheeseppuff Gerry McAvoy: Bass, Lou Martin: Keyboard, Rod de'Ath: Drum

  • Now that is probably the only Strat id ever play

  • I honestly dont know which one of the members could be in more of a grove, but all of their groves put together makes godly music like this

  • better than page??? is different...not better...

  • There is only one person in the whole human race can play a guitar like that,

Rory Gallagher. we will never see his like again.

  • Just amazing! When I was young, Gallagher used to regularly tour South Wales, but I can't remember him being this good!

  • The Legend.

  • rorys music flows through my vains, blood is for losers

  • OMAGAD i just had a fucking bluesgasm !!!!

  • I think this song puts dragonforce to shame :P

  • I love how the guitar literally sounds like its borderline screaming

  • @randommoosebrains whats a dragonforce?

  • @FreddyAndCougar A strategy game from sega, and a power metal band :\

  • @randommoosebrains Dragonforce are shredders of shit,Rory is a Guitar God.

  • @SRV1DOORS1HENDRIX1 Rory wasn't a God. He was simple irish dude. An this is the most amazing thing about him.

  • my head just fuckin exploded

  • Vini Reilly, Johnny Marr... and Rory Gallagher. Soul, Art, Rock, Virtuosity!

  • Can you buy the IrishTour on video ?

  • Response to Killing Lie 1 - I am a huge RUSH fan, and have been to over 40 shows. I have only seen Rory once, when he opened for RUSH. I suppose you are making a comparison because at the midpoint of this song I hear bits of music that sound like La Villa Strangiata. Comparing these two incredible guitarists is a useless effort. They are both fantastic, they both rock, and they are different people. I could make an argument that RG is technically more proficient than Alex, but who cares?

  • Did you see those fuukin swells around 4:15 ! A genius !!

  • a real rocker...a beautiful soul....thank you rory

  • What A Classic! I recognized the Irish tour version immediately. .......rory is the most passionate rocker

  • great does'nt come near what this man was to guitar playing never to be replaced one of a kind

  • That's not sweat pouring off Rory's lovely face. That's passion.

  • alex lifeson is a little better

  • @KillingLies1 music is not a competition.

  • @KillingLies1 Thanks for the info : /

  • saw him in 1980, Amazing concert

  • Rory the best ever

  • Comment removed

  • great

  • Video seems to be out of sync with audio since i last saw it

  • GENIUS!!!

  • Awesome, truly awesome. One of my favorite live albums from the seventies.

  • The Be(a)st

  • play that funky music, white boy!

  • he was incredible live

  • There is an old story about Jimi Hendrix being asked by an interviewer after Woodstock what it was like to be the greatest guitar player in the world. Hendrix replied that he did not know. "Go ask Rory Gallagher".

  • As an Irishman and music lover I am ashamed I've only discovered Rory now in my mid 20's. I've watched this video over 30 times since I discovered it 3 days ago. I have never before watched a guitar bleed music and soul like this. Musics history will end with this song. It will be the epitome of the musical arts.

  • @paulieccc You said it so well. Rory Gallagher was the most awesome musicians in the history of music.

  • @paulieccc I think I'll have watched this 30 times too, by tomorrow... This is one of the best videos I've seen on youtube. I can die happy.

  • @paulieccc Be grateful you found him, cat. No shame involved. Rock on.

  • @paulieccc I hear ye, lol saw that in a movie just yesterday, sorry. I'm an American of Irish ancestry and play guitar. My influences didn't mention him and I haven't thought to ever check him out til.... tonight! I too am ashamed I'm late to the genius that is Rory and learned he's Irish all at the same time. Wow. I only thought of Gary Moore as our Irish rocker, but nay nay, Rory is all that and a bag a chips, lil' Texanism for ya. And check out Davey Knowles of Back Door Slam...

  • No one ever played it any better...............

  • I was lucky in the day to see Rory twice live. Niagara falls NY with bucannon, and then at shea stadium with Jethro. Rory easily stole both shows even though he opened. Walk on hot coals is one of the finest expostions of guitar work you will ever witness live boys. Long live Alcohol, Long live the memory of Rory.

  • @niagaraorbust I was there at the Shea stadium show! I was a bit far, too bad they didn't put the big screens on until Jethro Tull came on. Also it sounded like they only used about half the PA during Rory's set, the sound doubled for Jethro Tull. "Tull-a-Vision", first time I saw big screens like that for a concert.

  • Man Rory was so full of life. I Love watching this video. The band hangs on Rory's every move and then at just the right moment they jam. Awesome. Great video.

  • I love this song...BUT...what is the cameraman's major malfunction?!?? He shows way too many closeups of Rory's face while some of the best guitar work EVER is taking place about 18 inches below's Rory's chin. I own this DVD, and I met Rory twice, so I think I'm allowed to comment.

  • @DigitalShark99 If anyone has a "malfunction" its the editor not the cameraman since he is the one that really chose which shot goes where... on the other hand its so interesting to watch his face while playing i cant blame him for his choice... they tried to take you inside the world of rory gallagher. you can see it clearly with the opening shots of the Irish coast... this video is more of a subjective than a objective point of view... i like it. a fantastic video and a fantastic song...

  • @PeraShsh The cameraman (or woman) should've shown both Rory's face and guitar work in the same shot. If the editor picked all these shots without the guitar work and facial expressions shown together, then the editor has a major malfunction, too.

  • @DigitalShark99 i agree it is bad edititing at it's best

  • unbe fuking leive able song. pure music greatness

  • The best guitarist to come out of ireland and also jimmi hendrix's was asked what was it like to be the best guitarist in the world and he responded by saying ask rory galleghrer

  • coud not have said it better eat byour hart out clapton

  • greaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat i love him

  • the magic of rory.....excellent.

  • my brother has this on dvd, seen this dvd so many freaking times and not once have i got bored of it !!! awesomee song, one of my personal favorite songs.

  • I'm not one of those today is shit people but it is fantastic to see someone who so obviously enjoys what he's doing which you just don't see that much.

He looks like he's actually in love with it.

  • happy birthday rory.!!!

  • just shows you how the old fender strat just sounds way much better than these heaps of shit guitars on the market now

  • bought the LP Irish Tour 74 in NZ, in a second hand shop around 1977, on plastic of course, think it was about $6

saw Rory in NZ is 1980

  • @Guevaristas have to ask ya was it the blue cover version that you bought..wa sit the sleeve blue?

  • @seanlucky7 in those days in new zealand, 1970s, there were unique second hand record shops run by hippy dudes. The selection was incredible, you could walk out with half a dozen records under your arm for about $10.

The double LP Irish Tour 74 that i had had a shiny silver gatefold cover, with, from memory Irish Tour embedded into the cover

  • @Guevaristas thanks guevaristas..im actually looking for the blue one with the orange text on the cover..its a single album,i used to have it myself..was probably only issued in ireland??

  • @seanlucky7 it could have been. When he came to new zealand in 1980 he went on the TV for an interview-wonder where they film is now.

Bought a ticket and went to see him, this was when he had the Gerry MacAvoy and Brendan...........with him

  • as i recall from when I was ripping off Rory's guitar parts back in the 70's, that wah-wah effect is actually done through clever use of the pickup selector switch. He'd strum the strings, then sweep the switch from the neck pickup postion to the bridge position. Probably had the tone pulled back on the pickups too, for more dramatic wah-ing.

  • ya i think he has the middle tone pot disabled...kinda like 1 master volume or tone w/e for all 3

  • That makes sense. I always felt that for the most part Strat tone pots are pointless (stock ones, anyway)....except for Rory's wah effect.

  • my bad, it wasnt a wah pedal, now that ive seen him play it and hear it, i noticed that he was messin around with the knobs

  • this video is spectacular

  • This video was sent to me directly from Ireland by Gallagherologist Sean Reilly who's always on the money . Thanks man.Excuse me , time to hit replay.

  • Thanks Zigg for your kind comment. In truth I don't know a great deal about the man. Its just, its obvious he was an exceptional player... and to have come from this part of the world instead of down on the old crossroads with Robert Johnson and so on...

But what really warms me to this guy is his utter humility. He's worth a hundred million trillion bono's any day, any time.

  • hairs, neck, stand up

  • Rory

  • RORY!!!!! the most passionate guitarist i've ever seen i LOVE it

anyone have any idea how he makes that "WHAO WHAOOOO" train sound with his guitar at 4:16?? its insane

  • by twirling the volume and tone knobs on the guitar

  • @flosswel19, he uses a wah pedal

  • @flosswell19

Sounds like a mix between the tremole and volume controls, skilled indeed!

Sorry it took 9 months to get to you!

  • has anybody elses face been melted from that solo? or should i say AWESOME jam basically.

to rate this 5/5 is an insult to a guitarist who has long exceeded the limitations of a rating system.

Wheels within wheels is Rorys best acoustic song, that or bankers blues

  • Stunning!

  • No one ever can play with more passion

  • 10 stars

  • wot a jam !

  • Rory: I miss you SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH !

  • Why does music cinematography from this period never show you anything except a close up of someone's face? I want to see him playing that guitar! It's almost torture!

  • Those were the times....

Anyway, Irish tour is a masterpiece and Rory is still shining after all those years.

    Peace to his soul

  • This is Awesome!!!!!

  • At the start, i wonder if that clip is from west cork?? :L

  • great rory, killing that 61 strat in the bridge, does not get any better

  • when im sad i slide music the best
