  • I can't thank you enough johnny85er for posting this performance of this.I had no idea that John Stewart as well as John Hartford had passed away.2 weeks ago,I started thinking about John Stewart's song Gold and was suddenly inspired by it to try once again to turn my music into Gold.I already written the words down to learn Every Woman,Child & a Man as well as Clack x 3.That's real Americana Country Music and it's the style that I write and sing, like my tune of Natural Country Music.THANKS!

  • Terry and I were neighbors in the middle to late 70s. He's a very talented guy. I learned a lot from him. Jay and Tepi [sp?] were kids back then. Haven't seen them since '79. I hear they are doing well. I saw Tepi's post here. I doubt he remembers me. He was pretty young at the time.

  • Who is the composer? John Stewart? John Hartford?

  • This is great... the best part is seeing my friend, Terry Paul, with all that hair!!!

  • All the pauls are talented musicians................Had the pleasure of playing drums with Terry's son Jay..

  • "done live, in the field" lol!

  • Any guesses when this was? What year?

  • "Something Else" ran from 1970 to 1972.

  • Thank you for posting this johnny85er.

  • I was born in '71 so I sure don't remember this show, wish I had though cause the music is great. Not familiar w/Terry Paul but, am familiar w/Hartford & Stewart. This is sure a piece of history.

  • Terry Paul married his long time girlfriend, Kathleen, today and is doing well.

  • Aloha! I am Terry Paul and I am alive and well and have been living in Hawaii for about 33 years. Thanks to johnny85er for posting these videos. BTW... I remember this show very well. We recorded it in Yosemite National Park and I was so impressed with the beauty of the park, that I threw all of my cigarettes in the trash barrel the first day we arrived. It was a fun show to do. I was shocked when I saw this video and the the big chip that was missing from my front tooth.

  • terry, thanks so much for weighing in on this video!

of all the videos on the set, I enjoyed the # the most :)

If your interested, I'd be happy to send you a copy

  • Terry Paul is my DAD. He went on to play with Kris Kristofferson, was in A Star is Born and played with Bob Dylan on Knockin on heavens door, from Pat Garret & BIlly the Kid. He lives in Hawaii.

  • Hell yeah, tell him about this video & ask if he remembers it :)

  • You're joking!

And if you're not, that's awesome. He plays bass so good!

  • I just learned that John Stewart passed away on January 19th, 2008. may he rest in peace.

  • Man, I don't remember that at all...nonetheless, thanks.

  • What's "Something Else?"

  • it's an old TV series hosted by Jon Byner, and at times, John Hartford. It mostly featured artists of the day lip syncing to songs. I believe it was in production during the late 60's, early 70's. I obtained a 3 VHS set which i transfered to DVD, and have hosted some material here on youtube.

  • a priceless gem, thank you

  • this was probably my favorite clip of all the john hartford appearances on 'something else'
