Discerment is the key but TV springs too many suprises to make discernment any good. You can watch a good programs and seconds later be bombarded with evil with no warning. What we put into our minds becomes what comes out of them. With children, even more so.
Perhaps you shouldn't think of it as good, and evil. Perhaps you should take better care of not what you see, but what you allow yourself to agree with. The mark of an educated mind is the ability to consider a thought, even argue its merits, and still not agree with it. We're not stupid animals, we can easily control what we think, if only more people cared enough to do it.

The only thing I didn't like about this scene was Beal's acting like he was under some kind of hypnotic power when he faints at the end which made it seem like he was under the influence of some other "power" which made him say the things he did but also made him to be less credible than what he was saying actually was. Yeah thats why it cost $385 bucks for a Wall Street Journal subscription. And newpapers are "scaling" back or going out of business. The junk they peddle as news is no different than that in telivision form. So now people just watch shows and entertainment....while thier societ is crashing down around them, becasue of the trust they have lost for "Mainstream Journalism"

I absolutely loathe television, but in many ways the internet is far worse at times : conspiracy theorists, doomsdayers, religious fanatics, shove it down your throat aetheists, trolls, pedophiles, straight up dumb people and the list goes on and on. People watch the news and think "This is the official news, the information they are giving me must be true, their whole business is based on news, I assume they must check their facts, and never, never lie". But we know that we shouldn't believe everything we see and hear on the internet because we know that absolutely anyone can contribute to it. There isn't the presumption of truth, we are given a clear 'point of view' based system, whereby we are forced to think rather than just accept.

Discerment is the key but TV springs too many suprises to make discernment any good. You can watch a good programs and seconds later be bombarded with evil with no warning. What we put into our minds becomes what comes out of them. With children, even more so.

Perhaps I want to think of it in terms of good and evil because that is how I see it and because I am tired of being seduced by soft arguments to the contrary. I dumped my TV 6 Months ago and the difference is massive. I now think for myself. I can hold conversations again. I no longer sit through utter crap out of habit. The only thing I didn't like about this scene was Beal's acting like he was under some kind of hypnotic power when he faints at the end which made it seem like he was under the influence of some other "power" which made him say the things he did but also made him to be less credible than what he was saying actually was.
