We will also try to get representations of other night sky phenom, like stars and planets, just for comparison. I won't necessarily repost anything unless we happen to actually capture something interesting. So far, we are mostly convinced it is a star or a planet - albeit an interesting one in comparison to its companions in our winter sky.
The odd behavior of the object (most of which didn't get RECORDED - grrrr) was what got our attention. We will keep watching the object that we believe to be in the same position (again relative to adjacent recognizable heavenly bodies and constellations), and thus likely to be the same object, over the next few nights and see if we get a repeat performance.
It is still oscillating in a way that it seems none of the other stars we can clearly see through the camera do. That too is interesting
Only endeavored a slight observance and very little recording this evening. Though not precisely positioned, it is in the same general area in relation to surrounding stars (such as our main reference of Orion), and though what we believe to be the same object is not exhibiting the same effects it was last night, we believe it is likely the same object - now thought to be likely a star or maybe even a planet. IF it is the same object.
My friend saw 8 of these blue balls today in the sky of San Diego, CA. 2-21-2012. Did anybody else witness?
