ah sweet bird. rest well and at peace. many loved you from afar. who will fill such deep shoes? who is left to tell the tales and fight the good fight?
The musical Mother Jones of the union movement is gone. "They'll never shoot that union out of me!" May it ever be thus. She's now home in West Virginia, in well-earned peace.
Saw her last year at the Hardly Stricly Bluegrass Festival in Golden Gate Park. What an incredible talent! I will really miss her. Rest in Peace, sweet songbird!
I've met her and had dinner with her and I miss her daily, Heaven is enriched now that she has joined the Angel Band

Hazel was a gift to America, and the greatest voice of the Appalachian working class. Her passing is a great loss.
