Even if you're too young to adopt a pet yourself, you can still go volunteer, donate, and even help encourage others to adopt. @gottspieler But again, people shouldn't have to choose, they can help both causes, even money-wise. Lets say you have money set aside to donate; you don't HAVE to send it all to one place. It can be evenly distributed between different groups and societies dedicated to helping these causes.
Even if there is no money, you can still show support like I did with this video. I did a video of for animals because it was about my local humane society, something that was close to home for me.

i love them i just hate to see them this way broken hearts they just want to be loved and a home so they have a place to sleep and have feed to eat and a family to live with and have care. so we can try to get them a home and a careing and loveing family. i now its sad to see them like this but if you adopt a dog or a cat it will help them and they dont have to be putdown. i hope they get adopt to a nice home.

My sister talked me into going to Petco on Adoption Day. AARF and the Crossville Humane Society was there. The HS has this cute little dog that looked depressed severly. His name was Peanut and they didnt know what he was or alot about him. His forster parents thought he wouldnt get adopted cause of that. When I sat down to fill out his forms to adopt him, he didnt want to leave my side, my lil sis had him on a leash. He hates storms, men and violance. Loves his belly rubbed and my best friend !
About 4 yrs ago, I was court ordered to 40hrs of community service at an animal shelter here in Houston, Tx and it literally broke my heart everytime I went in there to do my CS work. I wanted so bad to take every single animal in there home w/me. Just seeing the looks on their faces was enough to make any grown man cry. I broke down many times in tears many of times, knowing the ending results of those animals that didn't get a home. A BIG thanks for the video!

I wish I was 16 so I could volunteer by myself at the humaine society because when I usually volunteer there during summer my mother always wants to leave about a half an hour into volunteering TT.TT so I never get to spend too much time with the animals..
That was sad but beautiful. I had a greyhound I adopted from the track and she lived to be 15. I now have two cats I adopted, one from a no-kill shelter (two years old), and my Boo-Boo, 14 years old I rescued from death row.

seeing that last dog broke my heart. dogs are supposed to get excited when they see people and for that dog to know there was no point in getting up... that was the saddest thing i have seen in a long time. i give my time at my local animal shelther every week and wind up crying before i leave because of the affect it has on me. those dogs and cats need a new home and a new loving family. and we need to be the people to be their voice and help them.
We have 3 new cats now! Rescued over the course of the last year! (All neutered/ spayed, except for the newest, which isn't old enough yet). The newest (Biscuit), was found sitting in the middle of the road, while we went out to get milk at 9:30pm. My husband says it can only be fate, as I can very rarely drink milk w/o my stomach hurting, but I HAD TO HAVE cereal that nite, I was craving it, and made a special trip out to the store to get it :)
My husband had a cat, that was a shelter cat, that was THE ONLY THING that got him through his divorce (he thought about just ending it several times, but no one to care for Possom), Possom died about a year ago, & its probably one of the hardest things he ever had to go thru (he was ill, wouldn't eat and was hiding), & we had him put to sleep so he wouldn't suffer anymore (he was 17). The vet was SO GREAT about it, my husband was sobbing, said he understood, they can truly be your best friend

I've loved animals since I was a little girl. I've had a former shelter cat living with me since December 2008. I don't "own" her, because I believe it's a friendship bond instead of "owner/pet". She adopted me. I'm glad we found each other. I love her and I wouldn't give her up for anything.

I am a HUGE dog lover...and this might sound surprising but I have saved 67 dogs, they had been wondering the streets for some-time and I just brought them home...Took them to my local Vet, got their shots and paid for all their surgery and stuff. These dogs were going to die. Now I know if you see a dog that looks like it covered in tics your going to cry right? Well its very sad, now I am thinking about opening a FREE animal shelter so the stupid people can bring their unwanted pets there....!
Ah, This made me cry so hard. I'm a huge animal lover and it hurts that I can't do anything about helping all of these animals. I only saved one dog from the streets and he has his moments of acting out but everyone acts out, besides I would rather keep him here safely at my house rather than scattering around for food or being neglected from someone or having to be in the pound waiting for someone to pick him up.

Excellent video. I rescue them before they get to the pound, thank god. All of my 3 cats were strays that I saved. Just 3 days ago, I got my 3rd, a baby kitten (only 5 weeks old) that somebody dumped on my street. It's so sad, because all they want is somebody to love them. People just can't get their animals fixed so there aren't more animals who need to feel pain or be put to sleep because there aren't enough homes. I wish I could take every single one...

I got my dog Jake from the HSPCA, and he had been their for 3 months, because no one wanted a dog with heart worms. The lady who helped us handle him told us if he didn't get adopted soon, they were gonna put him down. He's my baby now, heart worm free, and a beautiful pure bred lab :)

I want to help out at an animal shelter, but I'm scared about seeing all of those poor animals. I'm proud to say I rescued my dog from the pound. They were going to put her down that afternoon. At 4:00 pm. We got her at 3.

I was so sad during the video, 2:51 just broke my heart. Whenever you buy from a breeder, you help kill a helpless animal in the shelter. Over 3,000 animals are still suffering on the streets. When you adopt, you don't just give them a second chance at love and a home... you give them a second chance at life.

But I'm going to go there more often to volunteer and help find dogs and cats find new homes. @gottspieler But again, people shouldn't have to choose, they can help both causes, even money-wise. Lets say you have money set aside to donate; you don't HAVE to send it all to one place. It can be evenly distributed between different groups and societies dedicated to helping these causes.
Even if there is no money, you can still show support like I did with this video. I did a video of for animals because it was about my local humane society, something that was close to home for me.

i love them i just hate to see them this way broken hearts they just want to be loved and a home so they have a place to sleep and have feed to eat and a family to live with and have care. so we can try to get them a home and a careing and loveing family. i now its sad to see them like this but if you adopt a dog or a cat it will help them and they dont have to be putdown. i hope they get adopt to a nice home.

My sister talked me into going to Petco on Adoption Day. AARF and the Crossville Humane Society was there. The HS has this cute little dog that looked depressed severly. His name was Peanut and they didnt know what he was or alot about him. His forster parents thought he wouldnt get adopted cause of that. When I sat down to fill out his forms to adopt him, he didnt want to leave my side, my lil sis had him on a leash. He hates storms, men and violance. Loves his belly rubbed and my best friend !

About 4 yrs ago, I was court ordered to 40hrs of community service at an animal shelter here in Houston, Tx and it literally broke my heart everytime I went in there to do my CS work. I wanted so bad to take every single animal in there home w/me. Just seeing the looks on their faces was enough to make any grown man cry. I broke down many times in tears many of times, knowing the ending results of those animals that didn't get a home. A BIG thanks for the video!

There are so many animals in shelters worthy of your love. If you insist on a purebred, about 30% of all animals in shelters are purebred so you can find them there too.

Im 13 and I volunteer at a dog shelter, not for school but because I want to.And I would see dogs brought in that were abused, it was definetly sad but the dogs that were brought in had it good for the staffs and volunteers and I gave them love long walks and good food and every thing a dog wants:) But please stop animal abuse, all animals want is to show us that they are there for us and we should show them that too.

That was sad but beautiful. I had a greyhound I adopted from the track and she lived to be 15. I now have two cats I adopted, one from a no-kill shelter (two years old), and my Boo-Boo, 14 years old I rescued from death row.
I will share this on facebook to bring awareness to adopting, rather than supporting those awful "puppy mills".

seeing that last dog broke my heart. dogs are supposed to get excited when they see people and for that dog to know there was no point in getting up... that was the saddest thing i have seen in a long time. i give my time at my local animal shelther every week and wind up crying before i leave because of the affect it has on me. those dogs and cats need a new home and a new loving family. and we need to be the people to be their voice and help them.

We have 3 new cats now! Rescued over the course of the last year! (All neutered/ spayed, except for the newest, which isn't old enough yet). The newest (Biscuit), was found sitting in the middle of the road, while we went out to get milk at 9:30pm. My husband says it can only be fate, as I can very rarely drink milk w/o my stomach hurting, but I HAD TO HAVE cereal that nite, I was craving it, and made a special trip out to the store to get it :)

My husband had a cat, that was a shelter cat, that was THE ONLY THING that got him through his divorce (he thought about just ending it several times, but no one to care for Possom), Possom died about a year ago, & its probably one of the hardest things he ever had to go thru (he was ill, wouldn't eat and was hiding), & we had him put to sleep so he wouldn't suffer anymore (he was 17). The vet was SO GREAT about it, my husband was sobbing, said he understood, they can truly be your best friend

One of the animal caretakers was a psycho who was seen in the undercover video footage, slamming metal door on a cat, throwing a cat, trying to ripped out a cat's claws, and spraying the dogs down with high pressure hose n bleach. Please google Corapeake, NC animal testing lab. I called the DA's office and the name of the caretaker is not released yet coz she hasn't been charged.

I've loved animals since I was a little girl. I've had a former shelter cat living with me since December 2008. I don't "own" her, because I believe it's a friendship bond instead of "owner/pet". She adopted me. I'm glad we found each other. I love her and I wouldn't give her up for anything.

I am a HUGE dog lover...and this might sound surprising but I have saved 67 dogs, they had been wondering the streets for some-time and I just brought them home...Took them to my local Vet, got their shots and paid for all their surgery and stuff. These dogs were going to die. Now I know if you see a dog that looks like it covered in tics your going to cry right? Well its very sad, now I am thinking about opening a FREE animal shelter so the stupid people can bring their unwanted pets there....!

Ah, This made me cry so hard. I'm a huge animal lover and it hurts that I can't do anything about helping all of these animals. I only saved one dog from the streets and he has his moments of acting out but everyone acts out, besides I would rather keep him here safely at my house rather than scattering around for food or being neglected from someone or having to be in the pound waiting for someone to pick him up.

Excellent video. I rescue them before they get to the pound, thank god. All of my 3 cats were strays that I saved. Just 3 days ago, I got my 3rd, a baby kitten (only 5 weeks old) that somebody dumped on my street. It's so sad, because all they want is somebody to love them. People just can't get their animals fixed so there aren't more animals who need to feel pain or be put to sleep because there aren't enough homes. I wish I could take every single one...

I got my dog Jake from the HSPCA, and he had been their for 3 months, because no one wanted a dog with heart worms. The lady who helped us handle him told us if he didn't get adopted soon, they were gonna put him down. He's my baby now, heart worm free, and a beautiful pure bred lab :)

I was so sad during the video, 2:51 just broke my heart. Whenever you buy from a breeder, you help kill a helpless animal in the shelter. Over 3,000 animals are still suffering on the streets. When you adopt, you don't just give them a second chance at love and a home... you give them a second chance at life.

omg this is so sad animals should be loved and taken care of not cooked or abused !!!! i hate people who do and are part of animal abuse/cruelty.

I really can't say I cried. Stuff like this is happening all the time. Please, don't take me as heartless but this is TOO common to be sad about anymore. We rescue animals and all but still, I don't cry anymore when one of them die. We've gave them the best life we could.

Shed a tear dude. These creatures cant speak or really defend themselves. My little girl died of feline leukemia but I still loved her even though she wasnt human.

this video is soo sad! im actually crying right now..:( i volunteer at the SPCA nad that is exactley what they do, the dogs stick their noses through the cage and look so sad, and the cats reach for you..it makes me want to take all of them home with me!

this makes me cry. it reminds me of the animals i had rescued but made me feel bad because there were ones in worse conditions.poor animals. left in cahes then put down after 3 days. makes me think of what their past was. Some of them look so miserable they reach out at you with their paws.

I did my Gold Award by donating supplies to them. I donate to the Humane Society of the United States and the ASPCA. I love animals and I want to adopt and help as many as possible. Ya I have but actually....now that I think about it...I did go to one when I was younger but I don't remember what it looked like or anything. But I'm going to go there more often to volunteer and help find dogs and cats find new homes. There's this one dog that had been there for 2 years that I have read in the newspaper and I'm thinking about going down there and adopting her since no one else will.
