  • I'm REALLY sad to read the bitching in the comments here.

joni would HATE the divisiveness and hatred some of you are bringing here.

  • Sami girl

  • beautiful song...beautiful artist .......And all while being fallibly human....Nothing wrong here...

  • whatz is wrong with me? i like Joni and Bob...and Judy....why so much hate and judgement in here. We don't own these artist lets just enjoy thier gifts. Peace

  • AMAZING!

  • today....joni looks like an orangutan like Dr. Zaire from the original Planet of The Apes film...i swear...check it out...

joni is known for being a real cheapskate....she had her daughter arrested...the same daughter she gave up for adoption because joni's career was far more important then raising a rugrat....

joni was a super opportunist...fucking that load leonard cohen

joni recently said horrible things about bob dylan...shit like she never lifted nothing from some song

    fucking cunt

  • @ChiroQuacker I'm sure all that must be true: no one ever lies against others out of, say, jealousy.

  • @JNagarya

i admire joni as a writer and performer and recording artist..in her time..she was brilliant...a great talent..her songs are timeless and live on...

but as a human being...she's nothing more then a one hit wonder

she went thru men like one drinks water

her lovers, daughter, friends like judy collins..were all disposable

judy collins tells how she was close with joni and has tried to continue their friendship but joni is cold and cuts people off...and they are left to wonder why..

  • @ChiroQuacker Joni Mitchell had more than one hit, so not a one-hit wonder.

Assuming you are spouting facts: do you object when men go through women "like one drinks water"?

Judy Collins? Meh. Did she say that while on the booze?

  • @JNagarya

no judy wrote that in her NEW autobiography..and unlike yourself..judy has been clean and SOBER for decades....

  • @ChiroQuacker "unlike yourself..judy has been clean and SOBER for decades...."

    Personal attack noted.

So you admit Collins was/is a drunk. When will you be admitting her condescension?

  • @JNagarya

judy battled alcoholism..she was brave enuff to admit it and deal with it...unlike yourself who buries their problems in the ground and hopes they will go away....

judy has been sober for decades, wrote and released her autobiography in 2011...and praised joni mitchell and said she misses her and wants to maintain a relationship but joni will not reciprocate...

go lie to yourself...not to me..you ignorant little limpnoodle

    LMFAO@you

  • @ChiroQuacker Personal attack noted: "unlike yourself who buries their problems in the ground and hopes they will go away...."

And we are to believe Collins isn't lying about Joni because you believe Collins without her providing a shred of evidence.

And that she stopped boozing simply because you tell us she said so.

  • @JNagarya

    \

born liars generally think other people are liars as well...so i am not surprised a limpnoodle like yourself would doubt judy's claim of being sober for decades....

  • @ChiroQuacker Personal attack noted, illiterate.

Drunks are "famous" for being in denial, and lying to others about it.

  • @JNagarya

so are homos...come out come out JFagarya

  • @ChiroQuacker We can't accuse you of ethicality, or intellectual honesty. So we'll simply state the obvious:

You're an asshole out to prove that stupid is easier than actually knowing what you're talking about.

Go tell your mommy to change your diapers: you're stinking up the place.

    .

  • @JNagarya

JFagarya will be buried face down...so his queer party pals will recognize him!

  • @ChiroQuacker We know why you're obsessed with gayness.

  • @JNagarya

JFagarya i am all for you having equal rights..i believe you should be able to marry your boyfriend...and i believe you should be able to serve in the military...i am all for JFagarya having equal rights...you should be able to get your head blown off in iraq and you should be able to go thru a bitter divorce that will leave you homeless....i hope you get...just what you got coming to you...sans the baseball size hemorrhoids from getting cornholed.

    JFagarya come out come out!!!

  • @ChiroQuacker Your obsession with gayness is your obsession.

  • @JNagarya first off,,Judy didn't write ,,JONI MITCHELL was the writer ,,Judy Collins was always asking for a hit song ,but Joni liked Collins to sing some of her songs ,Judy had a habit of riding the coat tails of good songs ,,so Mitchell needs the credit

  • @vaughnsalem First to record Joni Mitchell songs, as I recall, was Buffy Sainte-Marie. But, yes: Joni Mitchell songs were recorded by others, including Collins, before Mitchell had a recording contract.

The same cannot be said of Collins.

  • @ChiroQuacker You sound jealous ,,alot of people back then had history,,so did Dylan ,,he was a ass towards people ,,at least Joni didnt have that cheap way ,,she had a few men ,,not like dylan ,,one child and she admits ,,she has more honesty and owns up ,,and she was a nice person and less ego like Dylan

  • @vaughnsalem Dylan has alot of stand off way,,at least Joni would be questioned on Charlie rose and other talk shows ,,Dylan thinks he's some king or something

  • @ChiroQuacker Dylan was stealing stuff ,,he even changed his voice to gain fans,,now that was strange ,,,but Joni never did that ,,she was always honest with fans and proved it by telling them ,,so don't be a jerk and talking without knowledge ,read things and find the truth

  • "The sun poured in like butterscotch and stuck to all my senses..." Wow. Simply brilliant.

  • as you know ,David Crosby found Joni in a New York club,,he told his freinds of this girl that plays amazing guitar and writes and sings amazing,,you should see her

  • Thank you for all your lovely tuneful inspiration, it has meant so much through hard times.

  • I love this song. Way better than crap kids listen to these days.

  • who is not staying wiyh you??

  • 17 people were in a Chelsea night

  • I remeber living in Santa Cruz and we were on the beach at a big bon fire and this song was playing on a small transistor radio. Those were special days too.

  • Is that the Martin that was stolen? Someone stole it off the plane she was traveling on....

Wonder what else she would have composed with that guitar?

  • It's 40 years since I first heard Joni sing this song and now in 2012 it's still as brilliantly lyrical as ever. Happy New Year Joni Mitchell, what a contribution to our music you have made.

  • Bravo! Superb

  • I'm so touched...

  • Beautiful :D

  • The mistress of the lyrical metaphor. Oh how I wish I heard more of this today.

  • @desertswo these lyrics come from a poet and wordsmith of the highest order. these sort of people don't grow on trees.

  • Beautiful...

  • Priceless, beautiful, genius...

  • Beautiful, first time since it came out that I have listened The thing about time and time passed, if there was no time, everything would happed at once and we would not be able to recoillect.

  • She's beautiful. Magic. Do you realize how much music she's getting from just her voice and that Martin?

  • I'd give up 10 years of my life if I could sing as good as Joni.

  • Good God, I Love this Woman!

  • So beautiful!

  • I love music like this. So I'm moving to where such music is played 24/7 - Ireland.

  • @mikedonn71 music similar like that can be heard in ireland??? i have to go there

  • I was named after this song! It's not from my time at all (from my parents' youth...I came 14 yrs later) but I love it <3

  • sang this as if she was painting the lyric. every word was as clear as her high notes. no overdubbing necessary. joni was a craftswoman with her lyrics and alternate tunings.

  • Heard this one on WKBW-AM, Buffalo when I was in high school! 42 years ago!!!

Love it then - Love it now!

  • I knew awesome discovery for a new era little composer ! I'm so happy I get to know these legends lately.. They inspire me a great bunch. :)

  • Theres this artist you gotta hear! called lady something.Just kidding.I saw her sitting in the San franciso airport1 time.I looked at her relaxing, reading.I let her be.

  • OK, nice, I love it. But can you compare this with the internal irreplaceable comfort and equilibrium of say Simon and Garfunkel, or say Bobby Dylan.

    Guys!!!

  • Pretty Baby, won't you.. wake up it's a Chelsea Morning!

  • My name is Morning. :D

  • My name is Chelsea. :D

  • Great performance

  • Holy crap. When she hits those high notes, I get chills.

  • joni mitchell is alwaysa amazing!

  • She was an education in itself, to us all, l then and now! Those kids at her feet are polite, but I can see in their faces that they don't get her. But that isn't their fault. The great usually are not unrecognized by their own.

  • She and John Denver had those jumbo thick guitars.

  • wow! brings back great memories....and she is a fabulous guitarist too

  • jonifan

  • thumbs up if Charlie Harper bring you here!!!

  • live perfection!!!

  • Big Yelllow Taxi, Conversation / This Song are INCREDIBLE! Love drones running through the melody line / the tuning & rythym of all 3 are phenomenal.

    MO

  • I love this song. Go Joni!

  • Far out man, she is cool...

  • Near perfection live. A shame that voice is gone though...

  • @KarmaDeath117 Why am I not surprised that your screen name has the word "Death" in it. You are one negative bummer, man. If you can't appreciate Joni's incredible talent and poetry, you are on the verge of totally ignorant. Go to another page, PuL-EEEEEASE!!!!!

  • @marialena68 did you call me bummer??

  • @KarmaDeath117 Yes. I am afraid I did. I just don't understand posting such a negative comment. If you don't appreciate Joni Mitchell, why are you on this page listening to her music? Her fan\s are not interested in your shallow and off-base critique. Go somewhere else!

  • @marialena68 the reason i am on this page is because i was driving home, and i heard it on the radio. What little i heard was very good (maybe 4 seconds of it) before i got home. I wanted to listen to the whole thing so i looked it up on Youtube. I listened to it and i did not like the song at all.

  • @KarmaDeath117 If these artist are your "type" it is no wonder you could not stomach Joni. They are in another league altogether, but Joni has had far more impact on the music scene for over fifty years. I don't think you can say that for many others.

  • No one more wonderful than Joni.....she has always sung from the heart. Oh, Joni, we wait patiently for you to fill the world with your love again.

  • according to my mother, I was named after this song<3

  • @GravityGrave My daughter was named after the movie On Golden Pond, but I would have named her after this song because she reminds me of yellow curtians and a bowl of oranges too.....

  • @GravityGrave -- So was Chelsea Clinton! Really. It's True!

  • Brings back a vivid memory....sleep over with a good friend, 10 years old. A bright beautiful summer morning. The good old days.

  • Jesus Christ Life is Great

  • Unbelievably good

  • this person("in 69 ")is a total ass!!!

  • I might bone her " in 69 " but I would not by her records !

  • i don't think we will have anyone else sing this better. it helps to have written it yourself, then play a great guitar, a very unique and beautiful voice, and not be too bad to look at.

  • Excellent...You said it all Biker. You can tell the difference when the performer loves the music or just wants the stardom.

  • You said it Cryo! At last someone that has the naddgers to speak out!

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • stunning

  • Wow!SHES ALMOST AS GOOD AS Spears! er Cyrus!er er Swift!!!Music is worse now than it was in the payola era.

  • a gift from god.

  • Musical ecstasy....:)

  • @OrchidTigress1 yes, truly it is...

  • Joni is a genious

  • "And we'll talk in present tennn........ses" haha another classic

  • Thumbs up if all you said to this video was: "Incredible."

  • "a bowl of oranges... too" haha

  • I love you, Joni!!!!

  • She's a singing, writing, performing machine. No one could have been more suited to do what she did. I'm sorry that people have lost the ears, eyes, and minds to the extent that they can't value that.

  • amazing when she hits those high notes

  • @rosieroses87 Damn she can sing!

  • @mikeyglennon hell yeah!

  • @mikeyglennon uhhh durrhh...

  • I discovered this on a 60's and 70's radio station (it's called the bridge on sirius XM my FAV!) I'm a huge beatles fan and discovering joni mitchell made my life even happier :D

  • the best wakeup song ever...

  • I believe this show was right after woodstock , this is pure joy and innocence , anyone who has a critical remark is just a sad , negative person ,

  • wonderful video!

  • NO ONE can hold a candle to Joni today!

  • ****We need to get back to this. This magical time, when you sensed something spiritual, something in the air, you couldn't quite describe it, but you sure as heck felt it*****

  • RIP Chelsea Hotel

  • Old Man Again...Joni Woke us up...Like a Chelsia Morning.. to a beautiful Poet Lady.. With an incredible insight into Men and Women...and the wider world vs individuals...She was and still is an incredible influence.... Morriset, who I love could not be with out Joni.....

  • Great video. Brings back memories. By the way @frumlady has to be joking? No one can be that screwed up... can they be? Really?

  • Looked better as a brunette.

  • @frumlady are you serious?

  • @frumlady STOP THE PRESS SHE SHOWED SOME CLEAVAGE OH NO HOW TERRIBLE WOMAN NEED TO HIDE AS MUCH SKIN AS POSSIBLE.

  • @frumlady you can't listen to her because of her neckline? lol, forget you.

  • Wow people had attention back then...

  • one boiled egg

  • ........phoebe.....anbody?????

  • @Mrjablles69 Joni came first

  • @JhonathanFree i agree......but ''smelly cat'' is the shit!!!!

  • @Mrjablles69 It really is. LOL. The video for it was fantastic.

  • Finally! I was looking all over for this song, but I didn't know who sung it. Until now!

I was born in the early nineties, but because of my parents, I grew up to music like this. Forget all the crap that they are pumping out nowadays, I will always love music like this. A pity none of my peers agree.

  • @RabydSalmon Im an early nineties baby too, and I totally agree!!! Joni Mitchell, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, John Hiatt, Neil Diamond, Cat Stevens, even Alanis Morrisette I discovered because of my parents :)

  • This is very lovely :)

  • My gosh, she is so beautiful

  • childofthemoon, very very funny prefer spurs myself. anyway what a song

  • America's got talent? These folkies of the 60's and 70's sang from their heart , in their own words and their own originality....Not over produced for the mainstream popular demand. That in itself is a talent no one can put on any show.

  • @BikerAlane too right Joni Mitchell could not care less about popular demand; being so popular now is a sign her talent was and is true and timeless !! She did not even like big perfomances !!

  • @BikerAlane I concur. If you cant write and sing your own material from your heart...then you are useless as a musician in reality.

  • @BikerAlane So very true. The talent was all that mattered. Most of the people from that era wouldn't even get contracts now because they're not perfect looking I'm sure.

  • @BikerAlane If I could give you a million votes I would sir.

  • @BikerAlane She's Canadian (Saskatchewanian in her own words), so she'd be on Canada's Got Talent anyway. :-)

  • My God - she and this song are still just as fresh to me as she was when I was a teen. Timeless.Such a leader of girl guitar players!

  • Wonderful, wonderful, but one thing Joni - why Chelsea morning ?? Why not Tottenham, Arsenal, Leyton Orient, Brentford, QPR, Fulham, Charlton, West Ham, or even .............................. Woke up it was MILLWALL morning !!!!

    Peace :)

  • @Childofthemoon1969 Chelsea section of NYC, I believe, not London. Chelsea Clinton was named for this song.

  • It looks like Joni has a bunch of foreign fibers protruding from her skin. Oh wait, that's just my sympathetic delusional parasitosis kicking in.

  • Dylan...vastly overrated

    Joni....vastly underrated

  • @Cryo837

    Gotta sat I agree...

  • @Cryo837 your very arrogant comment is overrated.....music is an expression and a specific taste!

    grow up hater

  • @Cryo837 agreed.

  • @Cryo837 ... vastly subjective

  • @Cryo837 why even compare them? they are both brilliant.

  • @Cryo837 Dylan's trick was to mostly mumble nonsense, so much easier to impress people like that than by actually writing comprehensible but intelligent lyrics.

  • my name is Chelsea :)

  • Joni is was famous before this ,,a true guitar player and songwriter of the 60s and Dylan thought he met his match,he still gets flack about his ideolism,,he stole songs from Joni and ideas,,he is a fake

  • @vaughnsalem dylans a fake...are u nutz...joni is great...springsteen is great...dyan...lennon, bowie...no need to knock someone, to build up another

  • @vaughnsalem meh

  • @TheChelcie186 Well change your fuckin' name idiot!

  • I really hate it when people say how great someone is and in the next breath paint everyone else with a broad, discriminatory brush. There's TONS of talent out there still. Just don't be so damned lazy and expect someone to shove it in your face. Seek it out. It's worth it.

  • you inspire my senses!

  • The most original composer of the twentieth century. She did things with melody no one else could have conceived of.

  • She let nothing sway her. Perfect poetry. No missing inflection. Nothing is "off" anywhere at any time. Incredible. There are always good memories to be had then. Thank you, Joni.

  • Joni at her best.

  • Nine people woke up with a hangover.

  • This is pure magic.

  • singerteacher.... "her voice is the weak link?" Spot on about everything else. Sadly her great range of pitch is very restricted these days.....

  • Joni Mitchell is one of the most creative musical/lyrical talents of the past 50 years. Her voice is the weak link, but study her lyrics "there's oil in the puddles in Tafeta patterns that run down the drain..." She used chord progressions, melody, and was an incredible poet. Compared to today's writers, they can't hold a candle. Watch "Woman of Heart and Mind" and listen to other musicians praise her, then see if you say the same thing.

  • @singerteacher

I agree mostly, but her voice a weak link? However, there is that iconic thing about her. As a kid i watched a fine rendition of "Songs To Aging Children" in the hippie classic "Alice's Restaurant", and i was pretty much amazed by the unique sound and guitar play. Later i discovered Joni's work, and found that it was her tune who made that movie so unforgettable to me - and Arlo Guthrie's amazing talents, of course. Some of her tunes have that eerily affecting quality.

  • @singerteacher .....but were not her Urge to Going and My Uncle and Me

very beautiful, as youtube has here in 65-66 ?.....hard

to see how those could have been done any better...

timing, guitar, expression's, it all seemed perfect...

  • Neil Diamond Can Write a Song

  • @Jay902017 What has that got to do with anything?

  • @Jay902017 sure he can. only he had nothing to do with this one, so why mention him?

  • named my baby girl Chelsea because of this song

  • @SaarduLady You and Billary

  • @SaarduLady My Mom named me Chelsea after this song :D

  • My dad named me after this song that he heard at a party.

  • @mitsukipuki

    Hello Chelsea! :)

    Peace

  • @bdvzim Hi-waves-

  • You can tell where John Denver got his record idea's from...!

  • Damn her she makes singing seem so effortless! It's like listening to the studio version only without the backing vocals.

  • Thank you sooo much for this! Not only is it a great song but excellent footage of a superb performance! Bravo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1 of the Greatest singer songwriters of all time!

  • Such a good song.

  • This song cheers me up whenever i hear it can you believe that it was an early throwaway song that JM considers not to be her best work, pure genius

one line of the lyric is worth 70% of the current top 20chart
