Russia was the only force who needed Cyprus independent from Greeks and Turkish influence. US didn't want Russia to be involved in this matter so they tried to divide and rule via secret organizations.
Second of all you need to realize that it was not the fault of simple people but of forces greater than the both turkish and greek cypriot sides. In contrast to eoka turkish had also put their own organization to instigate trouble among the turkish cypriots. Check the events previously taken place in greece and then check the motive of turkey who seeked the approval of Henry Kissinger to take the land as a payment to their previously lost areas.
It is always good to have an all-round perspective on things and know the other side of things. I am a greek cypriot myself and I pay my respect to all those innocent lives. However, you must realize that to be taken seriously some facts need to be made clear. 1st claiming that eoka B was founded by president makarios is ridiculous! Many international documentaries will prove that it is completely untrue.

The International Association of Genocide Scholars recognises the events as a genocide. The Ottoman Turkish minister of war Ismail Enver had declared in October 1915 that he wanted to "solve the Greek problem during the war... in the same way he believe[d] he solved the Armenian problem."
According to the International League for the Rights and Liberation of Peoples, between 1916 and 1923, up to 350,000 Greek Pontians were reportedly killed in massacres, persecution and death marches.

I am a British Born Greek Cypriot, I enjoyed this video as it was nicely made and we never get to hear much from the Turkish side. The video had one really good function. It made me understand how the turkish cypriot people think feel due to what they experienced. I understand why they want to partition, I understand why the north was closed off so many years and I understand why the turks don't have trust to unify. It was a tiny bit bias, but this was the TC's story not the GC's story.
@funny1234527 I'm very glad you enjoyed and was enlightened by the video. It's open minded people like yourself who, if incharge, would lead Cyprus into a much brighter future than it is destined for now.

@groundphase This is true, and we do not condone such an approach. We need people like yourself, our counterparts who will help us bridge this tragic gap between our people.
@elbbd Yes the suffering has gone on too long. I don't want the future generation of Cypriots, whether they speak Greek or Turkish, to have to have this hanging around their necks. The sins of the Fathers should not be bourne by their sons. We need a day where regardless of language or religion, the people of Cyprus and Cypriots first and foremost, working to the common good of Cyprus and each other.
no mention in the destruction of Greek cultural heritage,no mention on the Turkish settlers from mainland Turkey and in general no mention whatsoever on the Atrocities against Greek Cypriots. In 1976 and again in 1983, the European Commission of Human Rights found Turkey guilty of repeated violations of the European Convention of Human Rights. Turkey has been condemned for preventing the return of Greek Cypriot refugees to their properties.
this "documentary" is biased.I find it incredible how it turned everything around in favor of the Turks as it shows only some certain events that happened by Greek Cypriot extremists in the 60's.No mention of TMT and it's actions on Greek Cypriots,no mention on Taksim,no mention of the second invasion of Cyprus in August '74,no mention of the Napalms dropped by the Turkish Air Force,no mention of the 1,619 missing Greek Cypriots,no mention of the Greek Cypriot refugees
@EBvu at least the people who murdered the Turkish Cypriots are mostly considered traitors of Cyprus by Greeks my Turk friend. Our difference is that the guys who committed all the crimes against Greek Cypriots still rule you and you consider the invasion as a "peace" operation to save the Turkish Cypriots from the "evil" Greeks. What Turkey really wanted was to serve their expansionist objectives by using the Turkish Cypriots as an excuse to "intervene", fully supported by the U.S.A.
@EBvulves you are also telling me now that you are so afraid of us that you require a force of 40,000 troops plus from Turkey just to keep you 180,000 Turkish Cypriot minority safe???
an earlier story of events that occurred by some Greek Cypriot soldiers; something that we do not learn. More needs to be done to show Greek and Turkish Cypriots full events, as to be educated on a topic like this, is to understand the side of your supposed 'enemy' as well.
Turkish Cypriot. I also know that the implement of the Turkish flag on the mountains by Nicosia is a clear ridicule by the Turkish people to provoke Greek Cypriots. Nevertheless, I do know that wrongdoings were carried out by both sides, who have suffered. Archbishop Makarios was a good man, loved by the Greek Cypriot population. I do not believe that he inflicted the terror. This is my personal opinion, and not all will agree but I would like to commend the directors of the video as it offers
due to the violence of the Greek military junta, 'certain' Greek Cypriot natives and obviously the military intervention by Turkish forces. Nevertheless, it saddens me to hear the stories of Turkish Cypriot civilians brutally attacked by Greek Cypriots. I am not attempting to start an argument or justify these wrongdoings at all.. but I would like to bring to attention the fact that both sides of the story need to be acknowledged in a video like this as it is purely from the side of the
all of Cyprus? As the Turkish 'peace operation' was successful after 3 days, as stated by the Turkish prime minister, why was there also a 2nd invasion after the apparent end to military involvement. This military involvement ended in the partitioning of the island, completely severing ties with Greek Cypriots. Now Greek Cypriots need passports/visas/licenses in their own country to cross the border to the occupied side. There is no form of justice, and the Greek Cypriot community have suffered
@ElenaLazarouMusic the turkish minority does not require passports/visas/licences in their own country to cross over to the otherside? If they are not asked for it, i would understand. If it was only the Greeks being treated that way.
@howtofuckamockinbird Of course they should be asked to show passports when crossing over to the other side if Greek-Cypriots in THEIR own country are required to do so. Considering the Turks are the ones who partitioned the island, then Turkish-Cypriots unfortunately have to suffer the consequences of this invasion. It is only fair that they are treated the same way. Also, it is highly different as many Greek-Cypriots have to show their passport to go and see a home that they were forced out of
'The Dark Age' was put in place by the forces of the Greek military junta/dictatorship and civil unrest within Cyprus. The reasons for Turkey invading Cyprus, I feel, are not fully justified in 'bringing peace' to the Turkish Cypriot community. Not all of the Greek Cypriot community (even half) were running around villages murdering Turkish Cypriot civilians. It is clear from the video that the Turkish Cypriots began bringing in arms from Turkey (before the war), were they to inflict pain on
It seems that Turkey had other motives for the invasion or 'intervention'. As far as the guarantor powers not upholding their promises to the Turkish Cypriot community, this is also the case for the Greek Cypriot population of Cyprus. Where were the English, Greek and Turkish population when Cypriots needed help? The wrongdoings of EOKA and terrorist groups cannot be blamed on the Greek Cypriot community as a whole. This cannot be used as an excuse to define the Greek Cypriot population.
events then it must be acknowledged that Turkey 'illegally' occupied Cyprus territory and placed native Turkish people in the houses of Greek Cypriots. Thousands are still missing to this day and there is a reason why the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is not recognized. As far as 1974 being the day that peace came to the Turkish Cypriots, yes, it can be understood that the Turkish Cypriots needed help. However, if this was the full reason, then why was 40% of the island taken over?
I began to watch the video and saw a different side to the conflicts concerning Greek and Turkish Cypriots. Being Greek Cypriot, I have grown up always assuming that Turks were bad, Cypriots were good. In doing plenty of research, I see how Greek Cypriots inflicted pain on the Turkish Cypriot community, however, the video is biased. It failed to recognize how thousands of Greek Cypriots were forced out of their homes, murdered, tortured, taken as POWs etc. If people are to understand the true
im am turkish cypriot and live in cyprus i have family that live in the north cyprus and in the south i think cyprus should be one as turkish cypriots and greek cypriots because greeks and turks are the same the we live the same way of life i nwould love for that day to come where cyprus could be 1 again and i think turkish troops from turkey should go back to turkey and let the cypriots sort it out on there own
well looks like our friends have NOT watched this and are just trying to show their hatred towards us. Very soon TRNC will be RECOGNIZED!! so dont you worry!! We will be even more legit than your so called "Cyprus " no CYPRIOT Language, nothing in common , nothing whatsoever.NADA!!! If you like I can even write in Turkish, I am fluent in all three languages!! but you probabaly do not SPEAK any, not even your own! Is it Greek or greek cypriot? wahtever you speak in the south. :))
@canimakdenizim there isnt any cypriot language because there isnt any cypriot nation people of cyprus belong to the greek nation . At south our language is greek ofc but in everyday life we speak the cypriot DIALECT which is a part of greek language at crete the also have crete dialect at rhodes also and almost at all islands. I am sure that also in turkey at some places they have a dialect which comes from turkish. and you will never be recognised because u are illegall
@Michalispan I'm 25. I'm not going to argue with you anymore. I just ask of you to keep an open mind and to consider the fact that there might be more to it than you know.
@VOICEofTRNC finally get used to it republic of cyprus is a member of the EU and at UN and every country in the plant EARTH knows that republic of cyprus is recognised in the full island and that Turkey illegally OCCUPIES 37% OF THE ISLAND since 1974
@Michalispan Every Greek Cypriot I've spoken to has told of how much joining the EU has messed up southern Cyprus. The North is unspoilt and it's all ours.
@VOICEofTRNC "yours" ILLEGALLY. you only speak with greeks of cyprus that are COMMUNISTS of akel and communists are traitors and fools . North cyprus is occupied by turkey since 1974 THATS WHY NO1 RECOGNISES YOUR FAKE REPUBLIC BECAUSE IT IS OCCUPIED . OUR HOMES AND LAND DEAL WITH IT YOUR SO CALLED REPUBLIC IS ONLY RECOGNISED BY TURKEY WHO COMMITED THE CRIME OF THE INVASION THE WHOLE WORLD KNOWS IT
@VOICEofTRNC Maybe some of them were homosexual but we created philosophy maths physics democracy and everything u know MONGOL. IF u mean of the communists greek cypriots of AKEL they are the traitors of this country . How can it be propaganda when u are illegally holding our homes and land? IS THAT PROPAGANDA? oh and some of our ancestors were homosexuals because they didnt knew yet about the real god JESUS when they learned about jesus they killed homosexuals cheers
@VOICEofTRNC my mother is greek ur ancestors were mongols ur whole family are mongols and guess what U ARE MONGOL . deal with it it wasnt peace operation THATS WHY ONLY TURKEY RECOGNISES THE FAKE REPUBLIC . DO U KNOW ANY COUNTRY IN EU OR UN THAT RECOGNISES YOUR FAKE REPUBLIC? . u are nothing more than THIEVES who stole our land and our homes . GOOD TURKS ARE ONLY THE ORTHODOX ONES AND BELIEVE ME IN TURKEY THERE ARE MILLIONS
As for EU, who wants to be in EU?We all know both Greece and you cheated our way into EU and look at you both! Greece is bankrupt and is begging for money and you had to pay in order to get power from TRNC:) you should try reading the facts and research all the media from different countries for the events that took place.
My wife is greek cypriot from Kyrenia. Her family and her lost everything in 74 and they are very sour with turks. However, I do acknowledge the faults of the greeks in all of this. Everytime in Nicosia I stare at the border, I feel sick on the stomach. Please, I beg all of you: Unity, Independence and Peace for Cyprus!
There is no future for Cyprus without unity. Turkish and greek cypriots are much more similar that you could even suspect, if you only try to forget the religion bullshit! Unity, Independence and Peace for Cyprus!
@MrQuin84, The Cyprus problem is NOT RELIGION!!!! very FAR from it. There is no SIMILARITY between Greek and Turkish Cypriots. Nothing like the problem between the Irish or Lebanese Moslem and Christians. I believe the island will never be unified and there will never be a unified CYPRUS. Turkish army;s Peace Operation, brought peace to the island in 1974, and there has been peace since then.
1:00:26 europe isnt buying your products because u are illegally holding our homes and you are illegaly stating that cyprus has 2 states.. Eu and united nations recognises republic of cyprus ruled by greeks of cyprus . How come you call the invasion peace operation? when u murdeded greeks of pontos greece made a peace operation there to kill you? NO and u got smyrna and minor asia under your command
you should read the real history-your books have false info and they raise you hating Turkish people. There are 2 countries on the island. Turkish army had to intervene to rescue the Turkish people and brought peace to both communities. Thus, it is called PEACE OPERATION, celebrated as our Peace and Freedom Day. f there is no other state, how come you show passport to cross to our side and you had to pay to use the power from the Turkish side?
@canimakdenizim how can it be a peace operation then when no other country in the world recognises the so called north republic excpect turkey? deal with it turkey invaded in the republic of cyprus in 1974 and from then occupies 37% of the rep. of cyprus land every nation knows it!
@Michalispan I'm so tired of arguing and explaining the same thing to you brainwashed people. The Greek Cypriot propaganda machine has been hard at work since the 50's. Ever wondered what happened to cause the Turkish intervention? Ever heard of the Akritas plan? The files they found on Nicos Samson which had detailed plans of how they would exterminate Turkish Cypriots? Based on the constitution the republic of Cyprus cannot exist without the Turkish leg.
@Michalispan Never used? Thousands of Turkish Cypriots who suffered because of it beg to differ.
A simple glance at the FACTS of Cyprus history will tell you otherwise. Even Greek Cypriots know it certainly was used. Antonis Angastiniotis' documentary Voice of Blood will enlighten you.
@VOICEofTRNC akritas plan never used some turks were suffered yes but turkish munity started all the facts greeks sufferes turks sufferes but in the end greeks suffered most by loosing their homes and their land and now u are staying at our homes and at our land . DEAL WITH IT U MONGOL only turkey recognises your so called republic because every1 knows that u are ILLEGALLY HOLDING OUR LAND ALL NATIONS AND ALL COUNTRIES KNOWS IT
do you know what started all this? That independance by britain giving to turks overpower in politic the facts of 63 are written in history as turkish munity when turkish cypriots murdered policemen . The right for cyprus was to create a vote for the people and choose for their future even turks wanted union with greece at 1950 they all voted in greek churches in cyprus for ENOSIS even turks 96% of population in cyprus
I'm turkish cypriot and I don't appreciate how some people specifically come comment on this video talking about the bad things Turkish people have done. We never claimed to be angels, this is not what the video is about! People should just not come to this page or watch this video if all they want to do it trash and criticize the Turks.
i can bring you hundreds of greekcypriot that have stories as horrifying as these . im ashame for things some greekcypriots did . but every side is using these for propaganda . i believe they should make documemntaries together showing both peoples sufferings to the cyprus public in greek and turkish. that would help us both learn and point at the crimenals of both sides.i agree with u makarios was a hypocrit he did nothing to protect these people . at least he should have more love as a priest
Who comitted the first massacre in 1958? TMT, turkish terrorist organization of Cyprus. In 1960 there were 10.000 armed terrorists of turkish organization TMT.
An in 1963,1967? Always TMT started.
And in 1974 Turkish army started massacres. But of cousre you never speak about this.
on second thought maybe not totally turk propaganda. but Cyprus needs to be unified under one Republic, both sides need to tell their stories like this video shows, The Greek cyps are not the devils that you portray them to be, nor are the Turk cyps the devils that are portrayed by Gc. Both sides have suffered and continue to suffer, and the memories dont go away, as a Greek cyp i do not discount the suffering of the Turk cyps,
At last, a documentary from the Turkish Cypriot point of view. My family has been visiting the Greek side of Cyprus for 30 years and have only really heard the Greek perspective. Having read several books and now seen this outstanding documentary i have a clearer view of this period and fully sympathise with the Turks for defending themselves and am embarassed at the role Britain played. TRNC should be recognised as part of the EU and we look forward to visiting the TRNC this year.
@cgphilpott1976 Yes, finally an honest and factual account of what really happened. As a Turkish Cypriot myself I really appreciate your unbiased feedback. Yeah, still can't figure why Britain is/was effectively on the side of the Greek aggressors when they are a guarantor state...
@cgphilpott1976 Thank you thank you thank you... It is nice to see someone on our side. Thanks for the emphathy and understanding the Turkish point of view:)
very much appreciate this comment and the time you put in for it.

ElenaLazarouMusic 5 months ago 2
@ElenaLazarouMusic the turkish minority does not require passports/visas/licences in their own country to cross over to the otherside? If they are not asked for it, i would understand. If it was only the Greeks being treated that way.
howtofuckamockinbird 2 months ago

It is clear from the video that the Turkish Cypriots began bringing in arms from Turkey (before the war), were they to inflict pain on
ElenaLazarouMusic 5 months ago 2
It seems that Turkey had other motives for the invasion or 'intervention'. As far as the guarantor powers not upholding their promises to the Turkish Cypriot community, this is also the case for the Greek Cypriot population of Cyprus. Where were the English, Greek and Turkish population when Cypriots needed help? The wrongdoings of EOKA and terrorist groups cannot be blamed on the Greek Cypriot community as a whole. This cannot be used as an excuse to define the Greek Cypriot population.
ElenaLazarouMusic 5 months ago 2
events then it must be acknowledged that Turkey 'illegally' occupied Cyprus territory and placed native Turkish people in the houses of Greek Cypriots.
ElenaLazarouMusic 5 months ago 2
I began to watch the video and saw a different side to the conflicts concerning Greek and Turkish Cypriots. Being Greek Cypriot, I have grown up always assuming that Turks were bad, Cypriots were good. In doing plenty of research, I see how Greek Cypriots inflicted pain on the Turkish Cypriot community, however, the video is biased. It failed to recognize how thousands of Greek Cypriots were forced out of their homes, murdered, tortured, taken as POWs etc. If people are to understand the true

MrQuin84 7 months ago
There is no future for Cyprus without unity. Turkish and greek cypriots are much more similar that you could even suspect, if you only try to forget the religion bullshit! Unity, Independence and Peace for Cyprus!
MrQuin84 7 months ago
@MrQuin84, The Cyprus problem is NOT RELIGION!!!! very FAR from it. There is no SIMILARITY between Greek and Turkish Cypriots. Nothing like the problem between the Irish or Lebanese Moslem and Christians. I believe the island will never be unified and there will never be a unified CYPRUS. Turkish army;s Peace Operation, brought peace to the island in 1974, and there has been peace since then.
canimakdenizim 7 months ago
why they dont tell about what they did at the invasion and even before? why then dont tell about Tasos isaac and Solomos Solomou?
Michalispan 7 months ago
1:00:26 europe isnt buying your products because u are illegally holding our homes and you are illegaly stating that cyprus has 2 states.. Eu and united nations recognises republic of cyprus ruled by greeks of cyprus . How come you call the invasion peace operation? when u murdeded greeks of pontos greece made a peace operation there to kill you? NO and u got smyrna and minor asia under your command
Michalispan 7 months ago
you should read the real history-your books have false info and they raise you hating Turkish people. There are 2 countries on the island. Turkish army had to intervene to rescue the Turkish people and brought peace to both communities. Thus, it is called PEACE OPERATION, celebrated as our Peace and Freedom Day. f there is no other state, how come you show passport to cross to our side and you had to pay to use the power from the Turkish side?
canimakdenizim 7 months ago
@canimakdenizim how can it be a peace operation then when no other country in the world recognises the so called north republic excpect turkey? deal with it turkey invaded in the republic of cyprus in 1974 and from then occupies 37% of the rep. of cyprus land every nation knows it!
Michalispan 6 months ago
@Michalispan I'm so tired of arguing and explaining the same thing to you brainwashed people. The Greek Cypriot propaganda machine has been hard at work since the 50's. Ever wondered what happened to cause the Turkish intervention? Ever heard of the Akritas plan? The files they found on Nicos Samson which had detailed plans of how they would exterminate Turkish Cypriots? Based on the constitution the republic of Cyprus cannot exist without the Turkish leg.
VOICEofTRNC 6 months ago
@VOICEofTRNC Akritas plan never used and i know about it Yiorkadjis created it but never used.
Michalispan 6 months ago
@Michalispan Never used? Thousands of Turkish Cypriots who suffered because of it beg to differ.
A simple glance at the FACTS of Cyprus history will tell you otherwise. Even Greek Cypriots know it certainly was used. Antonis Angastiniotis' documentary Voice of Blood will enlighten you.
VOICEofTRNC 6 months ago
@VOICEofTRNC akritas plan never used some turks were suffered yes but turkish munity started all the facts greeks sufferes turks sufferes but in the end greeks suffered most by loosing their homes and their land and now u are staying at our homes and at our land . DEAL WITH IT U MONGOL only turkey recognises your so called republic because every1 knows that u are ILLEGALLY HOLDING OUR LAND ALL NATIONS AND ALL COUNTRIES KNOWS IT
Michalispan 6 months ago
@Michalispan You're obviously too dumb and ignorant to argue with. And what does 'death with it' mean? What you say doesn't even make sense.
VOICEofTRNC 6 months ago
@VOICEofTRNC your fake republic doesnt make sense mongols
Michalispan 6 months ago
do you know what started all this? That independance by britain giving to turks overpower in politic the facts of 63 are written in history as turkish munity when turkish cypriots murdered policemen . The right for cyprus was to create a vote for the people and choose for their future even turks wanted union with greece at 1950 they all voted in greek churches in cyprus for ENOSIS even turks 96% of population in cyprus
Michalispan 7 months ago
I'm turkish cypriot and I don't appreciate how some people specifically come comment on this video talking about the bad things Turkish people have done. We never claimed to be angels, this is not what the video is about! People should just not come to this page or watch this video if all they want to do it trash and criticize the Turks.

Who comitted the first massacre in 1958? TMT, turkish terrorist organization of Cyprus. In 1960 there were 10.000 armed terrorists of turkish organization TMT.
An in 1963,1967? Always TMT started.
And in 1974 Turkish army started massacres. But of cousre you never speak about this.
cgsfrance 11 months ago
on second thought maybe not totally turk propaganda. but Cyprus needs to be unified under one Republic, both sides need to tell their stories like this video shows, The Greek cyps are not the devils that you portray them to be, nor are the Turk cyps the devils that are portrayed by Gc.

TRNC should be recognised as part of the EU and we look forward to visiting the TRNC this year.
cgphilpott1976 1 year ago 2
@cgphilpott1976 Yes, finally an honest and factual account of what really happened. As a Turkish Cypriot myself I really appreciate your unbiased feedback. Yeah, still can't figure why Britain is/was effectively on the side of the Greek aggressors when they are a guarantor state...
