  • Great music! This is all I remember from the film hahaha, the main theme and that dragon thing

  • simply extraordinary ......

  • I´m feeling back to childhood when I hear it. Amazing!

  • I always think this is something you would hear as you walked into Tomorrow Land (;

  • I always wanted to bang Moonchild to this music.

  • mein film, mein lieblingsfilm!:o)))

  • As a child I cried when Artax died in the swamp....

  • @BigLebowski2000

    I think everyone did :D

  • Wonderfull score!!!!!!!!

  • feels like something astrid lindgren have done.. but maybe im thinking of "Mio Min Mio"

  • From the German version? This is in the American release of the film as well. Pretty much anyone who was a little kid in the early-90s knows this music. :)

  • I allways imagine my self riding a dragon with a girlfriend through the Universe on a speed of light ^_^

    Im so childish ^^

  • This brings me memories.

  • @DaReggaeMAN77 They can't win a war to save their lives though.

  • one of my fav's in my childhood! i miss those times soooooo much .. ;(

But i could watch the film evertime i want ^^

  • oh man ich liebe diesen song

  • YEEEAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

  • lol agreed.

    @DaReggaeMAN77

  • This theme makes me want to travel far and wide, seeing things from the seat of my Honda Motorcycle...

  • This is just "Bastian's Happy Flight", a standard track from the American album. The actual German opening is very different.

  • @VWVVWVVWV maybe diffrent but its also a Klaus Doldinger Soundtrack, clearly. And hes a German fellow..

  • @VWVVWVVWV yah and great shit :)

  • @VWVVWVVWV but both are written by Doldinger and not by this american idiot.

why the fuck must the americans destroy a great soundtrack with limahl and the other guy?

  • @wahrheitsgehalt the composer of the american soundtrack of the neverending story was italian.

  • @wahrheitsgehalt In the 80's, it fit in. Just see how 50 years from now people look back at all the niggers around with the pants at their ankles saying, "Daaaayumm nigga it's aight, i an trippin' at choo homie" but right now, it seems it's the "in" thing, to be a knuckle draggin crackhead ghetto thugin' crackhead.

  • @stargroove4 you mentioned crackhead twice. dude, keep the n-word off youtube.

  • @amaroclaro How about you go fuck yourself instead.

Seems others on your channel left messages like they don't give a fuck about you trying to be a net nanny either.

  • This makes me think of something fantastic, but i don't know what it could be.

  • it reminds me of final fantasy ^.^

    >>'love the film'<<

  • Now I know, if I need music or genocide done, I'll go to the Germans

  • @Shamus8b8 Oh, come, come now! Russians got Germans beat on genocide! Know where to shop.

  • @Shamus8b8 or to the americans, they know how to kill a whole continent...

and the Spaniards are not bad either, they did a good job with the Mayas...

  • @wahrheitsgehalt Butthurt Kraut is Butthurt

  • @DaReggaeMAN77 No !! :) CZECH beer is the best :P :)

  • Its a nice piece of music, but it doesn't matter what langauge its in if there are no words to it!!!!

  • @MrNoturaveragerednek the German score differed from the US soundtrack...

  • @DaReggaeMAN77 Germans were good till before the WW2, after that germans are lost in the space.

I think germans should check themselves

  • forget harry potter this film was real magic!!!

  • 19 ppl worship Richard Dawkins.

  • @NotOrdinaryInGames

What the are you on about? What is Richard Dawkins a negitave thing?

  • @brownie1982ad Don't be too srs.

  • one of the most memorable themes of any movie.....sounds like something john williams would be proud of

  • @Shadowthrone08 You're horrible at acting like a human being. Shoulda nuked you at birth.

  • @Shadowthrone08 Have you never seen a german in your entire life. I'm german and I'm a normal person. Why am I still blamed for things that happened way before I was born? Seriously, come to Germany and see for yourself. It's a normal country now.

  • @Shadowthrone08 Jerk.

  • I wish that they had "The Neverending Story Part IV"; that would have been great. Anyway, this just may look like Heaven.

  • reminds me of the flight on fuchur - best scene of the whole movie! i used to push rewind around 50 times everytiime i watched it. :)

  • No dollars , no cars , no iPods , no gold ,BUT true , love , fantasy ,family and friends ARE FOREVER ! ! !

  • makes sense to me, afterall, final fantasy tends to be a never ending rehash of the same stories again and again, where as the never ending story revolves more around pure fantasy. very odd, but it does make sense

  • Final Fantasy.

  • @technologic21

Maybe THIS should've been called "final fantasy", and final fantasy should've been called "the never ending story"... I know that's stupid but somehow it makes sense to me. xD

  • @Locke217 Ha. I liked that.

  • Germans have a good music inventions and ideas. :D

  • Synthesizers and classical music, a winning combination.

  • @quiktymevideo Yes,yes,yes :-))))

  • @DaReggaeMAN77 Oh, thanks :D

  • could this be where final fantasy airship flying theme was inspired ?

  • wow. i was 6 when i watched this the first time... now after many years its still amazing.

This movie and the music was pure art.

    Its very rare today...

  • great song

  • @DaReggaeMAN77

    you forgot porn.

  • Ya !!!! YA!!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

  • the artwork is amazing

  • So... there is no chance of watching the German version with English subtitles?

  • I ones and awhile have to watch this again i love it so much it brings me back to the days of being a kid

  • this is at the end of the american version when bastian is flying on falkor, right? what do you mean by main theme?

  • @SlowerEqualsBetter

It actually appears a number of times throughout the movie. The original movie did not have the song with the singing at the beginning of the american version. This was the main theme/melody for the movie.

  • back in the late 90s they took this end theme and made a trance remix with it. if anybody knows please respond. ive been looking for years.

  • @marceltion

perhaps you're searching for "Kai Tracid - Life is too Short" ;-)

  • @marceltion I have it. I'll see if I can put it online somewhere. Contact me plz

  • this song was used in the final US version of the film and was during the end scene. :( i miss being a kid watching this movie :(

  • Great music!! And the song could be used for Final Fantasy airships themes!!!! XD

  • A gorgeous piece, i really miss that movie, one of my best childhood movies

  • Sounds like overworld music in an RPG.... love it.

I remember loving this movie when I was a kid. After I read the book, I got pissed off at the movie. :|

  • @TheLunaShadow Ah, finally a like-minded comrade! The only splendid thing I nowadays value about the film is the music by Doldinger. There's nothing topping it!

  • @Daniel4646 Is it really that strange of an occurrence that someone prefers the book to the (butchered) movie?

  • does anyone have clips from the extended german release? doesn't matter if there are not any subtitles.

  • @lordcrumb07

You can watch the whole german version of the movie here on Youtube. The movie is about 10 minutes longer in this version. The musical score is in large parts totally different than in the american version.(Don't forget that it is actually the original version) Also the intro and ending sequence is a little bit different.

Search here on Youtube for the account "KinderTubeTVmovie". Search on the account for "Die Unendliche Geschichte"

  • Shadow of the colossus adventures are never quite the same without this track.

  • I always thought the title of this film was missleading as a kid...

  • yeah right, this song and movie reminds me most to my childhood & thats gone forever ;(

but i love it. movie is great and the song to.

the limahl pop version to the movie is nice to!

  • Nette Bilder mit dem Lied.

  • I've got the soundtracks of both The Neverending Story (without the Limahl song) and Das Boot. Such brilliant music.

  • dude were did you get these pics I BOW TO YOU

  • I have the CD soundtrack. I dont think it's german version.

  • @KewpieGirl yep it is original composition from Klaus doldinger

  • Wonderful! Every boy's dream!

  • i thought this piece was 'Nowhere land' by Frank Wolf???

  • So much better than the song Limahl did. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad song either, but they should've sticked with the complete original score in the US.

  • @MrBrown77 They probably just wanted a song, rather than an instrumental. This is more 'epic', I think. It's hard to compare the two, it kinda depends on the mood I'm in as to which I like better. Could have swore this version was used in the US version at SOME point though...

  • Where'd you get the pictures?

This is called Bastians Happy Flight on the US soundtrack.

  • haha great, memories, nice one

  • Thank you for this music, i searched her since a while now :D

  • Klaus Doldinger + Wolfgang Petersen = EPIC WIN!! :)

  • i love hearing this song, it's so beautiful :o

  • I LOVE THIS THEME SO MUCH. <3

  • I LOVE this! Listen to it on my ipod whenever I feel I need to be transported away from the mundane world and back to my childhood :)!

  • @eresuntont kids are not gay...you are !!!...stupidos go to hell!!!!

  • Nostalgia by the bucket load!

  • @GoldenGenki Du scheiss opfer....

  • excellent! fits the movie perfectly

  • Great:-) genial:-)

  • I feel stupid, I thought the movie was swedish, absolutely loved it!

  • Thank you! I have been looking for this song everywhere!

  • This song makes me wish I was a child again and makes me want to kill myself

  • zauberhaft und magisch... mitreißend... phantasievoll... unbeschreiblich...

das Gefühl aus der Kindheit ist sofort wieder da...

    magical...

  • woo german people

  • christ i forgot how amazin this tune was

  • Germans sure make good music, in any age...

  • still awesome....25 years ago. Like it was yesterday OMG

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!

  • Este soundtrack realmente ,cuantos mas años pasan mas me gusta escucharlo.

Esta compuesto con unos acordes que llegan profundamente,y una melodia que no se borra facilmente de los sentidos

  • Whouaww !!

  • ooohhh schön!!

muß gleich an den tollen film denken....

  • one of my favorite movies when i was a kid, still awsome today!

  • song = <33333333333333333333

  • 20+ years later, and its still just as EPIC. =)

25 Jahre her, grins.

  • WHATS THE 4TH PIC???

  • Man dont listen to this song through you laptop speakers, put on some head phones, sounds amazing.

  • Hey...the graphics are pretty dang awesome...especially for the 80s.

  • @esspears Exactly, unfortunately many ppl judge without realizing that this movie is from the 80s. Great comment buddy :)

  • @mirushka23 :) People forget how awesome of a visual spectacle this was back in the 80s. It was truly magical on screen. I know that it influenced my imagination throughout my entire life and I'm sure it did the same for many many other people as well. On top of the film's visuals the music has completely influenced me as a musician throughout my life. I still have the cassette tape that my Mom bought for me in 1984. It is warped and distorted from so much play time! :)

  • @esspears What do you mean? Compared to today's cheap CG?

  • dess geht jo voll ab!^^

  • This fairy tale is from 84, so we should not judge the bad graphics and the like. To me, it has still its own magic, and still makes me cry (yeah, that part with sinking horse). BTW: The music is just perfect. Have a lovely day everyone :-*

  • This song matches with wedding ceremonies so much! My friend had it played when she was driven in a car and other cars were in a colony speeding up to the church...Bringing back memories. Splendid!!!

  • By the way, on the book Atreyu is green XD And Bastian is a fat boy.

  • @kanfor That reminds me of the Lord Of The Rings... in the books, Smeagal aka Gollum is naked and even in the illustrated book, his hoo hoo dilly is clearly visible. Also, in the Mission Impossible movies, the lead part was written for a tall, straight actor, but they got Tom Cruise instead.

  • @AxeNewkill hahaha :-D

  • @kanfor On Noah's Myspace, it mentions that he's married, has a son, and he is on myspace looking for new women to date! Perhaps his next movie should be "Neverending Whorey" Can't let something like a marriage get in the way with someone's social life on the dating scene. HOWEVER, don't think for a minute that Noah is the bad guy here. I guarantee you that his wild Grace Jones tattoo woman wife is the one behind the pot smoking and infidelity. Noah is just along for the ride.

  • @kanfor Omg killed it for me

  • @kanfor And you are very dumb or what bitch

  • I am reading the book now!

  • @ Dalen77

  • This song does sadden me to know that I stopped being a kid :-)

  • @sanmamede444 isn't that the truth....they don't make movies like this anymore :(

  • @sanmamede444 Me too... quand j'écoute cette musique et toutes les autres de mon enfance, je ressens un raz de marée de nostalgie me submerger <3

  • @sanmamede444

So try to seek for the young and careless kid inside you. Free your heart and start living for your own happiness again. Don't fight the feeling of being a little one for the rest of your life. It is too short and afterward you may regret that you never did step out the adult world. It is just for the living!

But never forget who you are

    Greetings...and enjoy yourself

  • @sanmamede444 You never have to truly stop being a kid. ;-)

  • Did the composer to this song do any other movies, I think he might have done the music for Flash Dance, Im not sure.

  • The music sounds very much like that in Das Boot (The Boat). Fairly sure its the same composer.

  • I only know that the film Das Boat was made by the same guy who did The Never Ending Story or in German Die unendliche geschichte...Wolfgang Petersen

  • "Das Boot" ;-)

  • Yeah Das boot was a German movie, I remember renting it but dont really remember the music. The director Wolfgang Petersen is really good I wish he directed the other Never ending stories.
