This version gives me as much pleasure as any. Honestly, I'm not sure I understand why the public is so hard on Villazon. He's supremely musical. I've been using his early recordings as inspiration for my writing. (I also love Caruso's recording, and one of Carreras' recordings. There are many good recordings. The music is what sends me-- and whoever helps me experience it is who I like best! :) )

Et oui, vous avez le droit de ne pas aimer, la liberté de ressenti ça existe et je ne me sens pas concernée par le choix de chacun; j'ai posté un document c'est tout. et je ne compare personne à personne. Chaque artiste est lui-même pas un autre.
I think s/he may mean the recorded sound. It has a very ugly edge (too sharp with side vibration) particularly for the mezzo in "Là bas, là bas." It is therefore very difficult to appreciate the performance (and, the singing aside, I don`t like the staging -- too blue, but that's just me...).
It was planned to make DVD. I hope they will do it. This is strange production, set not in Spain but in desert. Extremely unusual but drama was very strong.
I saw this recording at Rathausplatzfestival in Vienna - and it's really great!!

Villazon ? en concert il est plutôt pas mal, mais dans les opéras, quels qu'ils soient, je le trouve décevant, il est loin de son maître .
