  • Used to be a finnsher at the Attic in Doncaster late 60s

  • Da kommen sofort Erinnerungen auf....und nicht die schlechtesten...tolle Zaubermusik..

Und Beatclub war sowieso das Beste, was es in de ARD je gab...mit den Moderatoren...

  • RadioBremen Beat Club - great!

  • "What a sensational instrumental one of the best ever recorded in my view as it was a massive mod favourite of the 60s, it was and is still one of my absolute favourites always have to dance to this when I hear it played.and can I say a end of the nighter for a very big nationally known deejay of the mecca era used to finish his show with this "STUPENDOUS SOUND" Pat Allen Burnley

  • I love these old pirate classics

  • I know this is the best version (obviously) and there's a Ron Grainier version too, but wasn't there a third version on UK Major Minor label? Any clues?

  • @soulboy1965 - FOUND IT lol Second City Sound from 1969

  • Not arf pop pickers

  • @bilbobagins1951 yey..too true...but what a sound...i see the writer was j.ferdy...WHO...wanna shake his hand

  • sorry, fastest, not fastery, too much cider haha see below

  • i loved this song when i was a kid. the Ladybirds also sung backing vocals on Benny Hill's ERNIE the fastesy milkman in the west , haha

  • When I was in the Army in Germany we used to go to a club in Zaberfeld. The DJ opened each night with this song. I always loved it. THe club was called "Skippies".

  • I would love to hear ALL the memorable pirate jocks again on a summer radio program playing all the good stuff from back then. A 12 noon to 6 pm on A Sunny (bank holiday) Sunday (Kinks) Afternoon on a Bank Holiday. Wooo 20 DJs all afternoon. Radio Heaven

  • This piece of music reminds me of when i was 13 and this was played to let everyone know the youth club at east ardsley in wakefield was closing and all had to leave. Sadley thats 33 years ago.

still a great piece of music.

    Chris Cooper (cooperman)

  • What happened to the DooBeeDoo bit.. ? All those years ago- Just like that ;o|) (appols cooperman)

  • Hi 0208

The oooohhhs, papparap pows and ahhahs are their as i remember. I dont remember the doobeedoo bits.

    Thanks

    COOPERMAN.

  • Hi Cooperman. I'm sure DLT on pirate radio Caroline South used to add the DooBee Doo part to the end of the Pappa Pow wow wo wowo DooBee Doo. But i could be wrong of course. This part link takes you to Pirate Radio and one of the comments there has also added DooBeeDoo - I may be right or not.. /watch?v=MYtAxRUQa1s. Good days back then of course. No bills to pay etc.

  • This was the Radio Luxembourg theme tune for the Simon Dee show whilst he was briefly on Luxembourg between 1966-67. Great tune, brings back memories!

  • It's a poor day when you don't learn something new!

I always associate this with Dave Lee Travis as the "dinner spinner" on Radio Caroline South.

Still sends shivers down my spine when I hear it.

  • I was the recording engineer who recorded this tune with Mark, I always feel proud when I hear it, it's certainly had a long life.

  • I agree its had an enormously long life and will go on but its a quintessential sound of 60s britain...with a lovely motown beat......but retaining a brit feel to it. will never tire of it and thats quality

  • great stuff evergreen, i used to watch beatclub with my mum in germany, when i was 7/8,back in 71/72. this was their theme.since then i wanted to know what the tune was & who did it. i found out 38 yrs later, in october 09. i can die now. cheerz, magicwine

  • I think this song was the opening number to every Northern Soul Night at Wigan Casino & was re-released on their casino Classics label -its fabulous

  • More like pure instrumental gold.

  • Weiss jemand ob es eine CD mit diesem Tietel gibt?

  • Jingle from the German BeatClub 1965-1972

  • hi longliveandprosper(by the way, love the cyber name) i used to watch beatclub in germany,as a 7to 8 yr.old kid, back in 71/72. thats when i 1st. heard this tune. i absolutely loved it,was mesmerised by it,but inever knew what it was,or who sang it, ands it been buggin me all this time,38 years to be presise, as i finally found out in october09! cheerz, magicwine

  • Timeless - a classic!

  • That is just awesome!

Take me back to being 14 years old in "The talk of the Midlands" in Derby

  • I want to weep... I have loved this song for so long, I can't believe I'm still alive to continue listening to it, since I'm so old.... like 58. Some songs never die, and this one of them.

  • Hey, Greensheep, no worries, I'm 65 and still loving the music from the Sixties!

  • used for the german tv show beat club

  • Richtig ;)

  • Its still being played at the Wheel in 2009

  • Heard it at the twisted wheel club manchester August 1968....I was 15y

  • Jimmy man, you're killing me with all these fantastic memories - thank goodness for people like you. I'm back in the mid 60's and want to stay there. Keep on rocking!

  • prachtig gewoonweg. dit is pure nostalgie. op zaterdag op de 1e Duitse zender Beatclub met alle artiesten die toen top waren. zo'n programme bestaat helaas niet meer.

  • took me back to being 14,had this on blue vynl

  • This is just fab. It was recently used as a theme to a golden oldies prog. on Radio Cambridgeshire - I liked it more than most other tracks!

  • SUUUUUUUUUPERGEILER SONG

Das waren Zeiten, Beatclub, Musikladen mit Uschi Nerke und Manfred Sexauer...

  • oops just read the previous comments that will teach me thanks again great tune

  • fantastic tune was it a jingle ?

  • Brilliant, so simple and atmospheric; it brings it all back to me now.

  • Strange that so few people have viewed this great piece of music. If you were in England in the 60's this was fab stuff, and it still is.

As Jimmy says in the info., this was DLT's theme tune in 1966, and it send shivers down my spine!!

  • johnniescarlett; You are so right! It sends shivers up my spine and casts me back to when i was very young. DLT used it as well as others..it was a great continental hit also. Great memories of Stewart Henry, Emperor Rosko,Alan Freeman etc.

  • Thanks for digging out the pictures. i know and love this from Twisted Wheel days but I had never seen Mark Wirtz or the Album cover before.

I saw the Ladybirds on TV several times as they were backing vocalists for various artists.

  • Great music by Mark Wirtz

  • He was the brains behind Excerpt From A Teenage Opera, a no. 2 hit for Keith West in 1967 just at the time the pirate radio heyday was ending.

  • Mark is a good friend of mine - he is now a comdian in Florida

    Love & Hugs

    Rosmarie
