As second only to Cadillac in the heirarchy at GM, I guess they were pretty sensitive to comparison! Albeit, this was the entry-level Buick, it was still by-no-means cheap ( compared to a Chevrolet or Pontiac of the time )! My grandfather's first Buick was a '65 Riviera GS, and it cost $5,850 new! Of course, that was with most if not all of the options they had at the time..
