@CassetteMaster Ya I figured it wasnt needed. ive looked/reworked/engineered circuits for years and years, and that circuit was astounding to me. but i just didnt understand the resistor, all it would do is limit the emitter current, which is the sum of the base and collector current. as the coil is a sufficient enough load on the transistor. Well i guess it would allow the transistor to dissipate less heat becuase you are using it in the active region. So i could see its purpose for that.
@CassetteMaster I don't know... I just felt like saying that because I saw an old video where Eddie Murphy said that about Stevie Wonder... but you're definitely a magnetic genius.
I actually always wondered if this was possible, using some kind of cicuit to turn a magnet on and off when needed to keep a metal object suspended in the air. Good Job!
wont that op amp get real hot even with a heat sink on it running at that amperage?
netrioter 2 months ago
@netrioter It's the transistor that the high amperage is going through. The op amps' amperage is low.

That is very cool! It is always so great when you get your projects to work. It's addictive. Great job Ricky!

it goes as fast as the slew rate of the op-amp, and the response time of your power transistor.
I still dont understand your emitter resistor on the power transistor?

@THEtechknight It was there in the schematic, but I heard that it was not required. I went ahead and used it anyway.

You're a musical genius!

@TwinMillMC What does music have to do with this? (If the background music, I did not create it.)

That's impressive, cody's gang looked jealous and acted like it was nothing but secretly they know it is pretty cool.
