  • "impossible to replicate in reality, as it must cross into itself without creating a hole"

Ooooh, I get it now. So people are interested in this because its impossible to penetrate something without actually penetrating it.

Yeah ... that sure gets the brain going...

    ?

  • @OurSickSadWorld That gave me laugh. *-* The comment you made about the house.

  • So the outside is ....THE INSIDE?!!!!

  • that is cheating isn't it? how can it go through itself?

  • This video actually made me understand the klein bottle a lot more than hearing about it..

  • I get it! Sort of...

  • If a mobius stip is 2 dimensional, a klein botttle is 3 dimensional, what is the 4th dimensional object?

  • @orod73

    both ar 4d idiot

  • it seems an elephant

    . . G ,

  • my brain is glitching

  • Best Klein bottle illustration

  • i can make that with a spring

  • someone should make a weed pipe like this :)

  • what is a klein bottle?

  • The 4th dimension is time did you know that? I didn't and still don't

  • thats a hell of a bong... lol

  • Does everyone have to look at that stupid woman with the bare legs on every page? Upper right, the one with the rainbow stockings, not that different from this Klein bottole, but you can NOT get rid of her.

  • @cusanusnicolas

Yeah I do have the same problem. Her name is kicesie and she has sth to do with sex education. Although also interesting it has nothing to do with maths.

  • Fake!

  • Trying to represent a 4D object by using 3D imagery on a 2D computer screen 0.o

  • WTF IS TEXTp???

  • where can i get one?

  • Actually, these do exist, I got one made out of glass for Christmas. It blew my mind.

  • @smallmammal247 No. Klein bottles does not exist. The Klein bottle is a 4D object - we live in 3D, remember? We can make a 3D sculpure of it's 3D "shadow", but we could never make the object itself.

  • @tamegomaith93 they do exist...kleinbottles(.)com

  • @tamegomaith93 the do exist... Tho I kinda get the point. kleinbottle(.)com

  • put water in the hole and it goes in the "inside"

  • @99foxlord If you can pour water in it, it's not the inside.

  • @Manuel71 "Inside not. Mobius strip or Klein bottle, there is no inside." -Yoda

  • @99foxlord yeah, this thing should be a waterslide.

  • @99foxlord that comment actually made me think why its not possible for it to exist... and why its 4th dimensional... you put the water into the hole.. and it goes around and it SHOULD leave the the same hole.... it leaves thru the same home it comes throught but still going in the same direction!!!!!! yes!!!

  • a klein bottle does not exist...so the question of such nonexistent objects having an inside or an outside or trying to show that they indeed they no inside or outside surface is ludicrous and inane

  • It's simply a cup, a vessel, with an artsy, swept out and down 'brim'. A puzzel for the densies, or psuedointellectuals, that all become government workers, civil servants, or worse, grade school teachers.

  • dude you can make this.....you guys are stupid (:

  • So what are the special properties of a klein bottle ?

What can it be used for ?

  • It is just interesting, It has no "inside", a bottle has an inside side and an outside side, the klein bottle has only one side that can't be labeled as inside or outside. For instance in a regular bottle, an ant walking inside, cannot get outside. An ant walking on the outside of the bottle cannot reach inside. In the klein bottle, put an ant anywhere and it can reach all the places of the bottle.

  • you created edges.. thats not ok!

    you are teh evil!

  • I don't think the model passing thru itself makes it OK either. Then again, I'd like to change my name to"Unicon the Simple"

  • I take it back, I'm more grounded in social work than mathmatics. A jaunt to Wikipedia set me straight.

  • no, thats ok according to the axioms of topology, but creating edges is a real no-no!

  • Yea, I understand now, see my second post above, I took it back.

  • İ think it shows that klein bottle is homeomorfic to möbius strip, they have similar surface...

  • It only has one opening, so to me it sure seems like it has an inside and outside :S

  • no... that does not mean anything...

  • the idea is that you could run your finger over the surface and move from the "inside" to the "outside" without crossing an edge, meaning the "inside" and "outside" are the same surface, much like the mobius strip, as zamansiz1471 said. it's hard to picture, and impossible to replicate in reality, as it must cross into itself without creating a hole, meaning the area of intersection is in the 4th dimension

  • Thank you for the explanation

  • So you could create a solid version of it, but it wouldn't be real because it would have to puncture itself, right?

  • yes, that's the way my calc professor explained it to me

it's that juncture that is in the 4th dimension

    theoretically haha

  • @NNNNN8 Have you ever had a glass? Inside=outside same surface

  • @NNNNN8 so basically its pointless???...and does nothing? whats it good for?

  • @NNNNN8 im sure you could create a klein bottle with some fancy technology, and plastic, and a drill, and some heat

  • @redKELLYMHRCH Technically, you're right. However, it wouldn't be a "true" Klein Bottle, only a 3d representation of the 4d construct.

  • @NNNNN8 dude, these can be made. They are made out of glass and can have liquid put "in" them.

  • Make a wine glass like this..

  • Seeing it transform from a klein bottle to a mobius strip and back to a klein bottle is mind-blowing.

  • sp a 4D shape has no inside or outside?

Finally what ive been looking for1 Klien is the ONLY shape on earth to be a 4D shape!

  • Not every 4D shape, just a Klein bottle, just like the Möbius strip has no inside or outside. In the standard projections of a Tesseract or Pentachoron you can't see the inside or outside, but it would still be there in 4D.

  • Very nice. Good rotations. Nice designs, A lot of videos don't show two dimensional also, which you did.

  • wtf?

  • it has no inside.

  • or outside.

  • nice!
