  • not for long chevron not for long soon we all be able to get ethanol and then big oil will have a competitor oil has never had to compete compatetion will drop those high prices like a box of hot rocks

  • I have been running E85 in F-150 Pickup and it runs great. Most that I know who tries the E85 loves it. One cold mornings the exhaust even has a nice sweet alcohol smell.

  • Actualy the real obsticle to E85 in CA is CARB (California Air Resources Board) they are the ones enforcing the storage tanks and permits to sell E85 you have to pay over $200k for. Also 89 is blended at the pump from 91 and 87. there is no 3rd tank for it.

  • greyfalcon. net is misinformation/disinformation repository setup and financed by BigOil to smear Ethanol. The more BS they generate the more you can bet Ethanol makes sense. Remember tobacco?

Lol. That made me laugh :P

GreyFalcon. net is a personal website for an Environmental Studies college student. Me.

And yes, I do remember tobacco.

So, what do ya think about this chart?

  • Boycott chevron, go to their competitors.

Chevron competitors include: * BP * Exxon Mobil * Royal Dutch Shell

  • There is not a single automobil that requires 89 octane fuel but nearly every station I have visited have had 87, 89, and 91 octane. Perhaps each pump may have to replace the internal and external hoses. The underground tanks will handle E-85 as well as gasoline that is E-10 in California The same deliver tanks can hold E-85 as anything.

  • That's exactly what we suggested to Chevron's CEO. But before any station can do that, Chevron has to agree to change their contracts which currently blocks those stations from selling anything out of those underground tanks but their three grades of fuel.

  • Uhm, the reason they would need different pumps is because E85 Ethanol

    1. Has a very different vapor pressure

    2. Is corrosive to storage tanks, pumps, and dangerous to fuel in older vehicles with natural rubber seals.

    3. It attracts water from the air causing the fuel mixture to foul.

  • Pumps are one thing, but the tanks, if they are current, by law Steel can no longer be used underground can be cleaned and used to hold E85. I have had two stations that sold Sunoco Purple leaded race fuel, and they were cleaned and now hold 7500 gallons of E85 each.

  • Ethanol is neither practical nor environmental. Costs taxpayers ~$2.5 billion a year to offset less than 1% of US Oil supplies, and avoids less than 4% of the CO2 emmisions of Oil greyfalcon. net/ ethanol2 greyfalcon. net/ ethanol3 greyfalcon. net/ ethanol4 greyfalcon. net/ ethanol5 greyfalcon. net/ ethanol6 greyfalcon. net/ ethanol7 greyfalcon. net/ brazil greyfalcon. net/ ethanol.png Same goes for BioDiesel greyfalcon. net/ palmoil greyfalcon. net/ soy greyfalcon. net/ algae
  • The real solution to cutting our oil addiction.

    Go Electric.

Plugin Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV's) offer the potential of the full flexibility of using some oil for backup range and flexibility.

But drive dominantly on electricity for nearly all your commuting needs.

Just a 50 mile electric range it would cut your trips to the gas station down to less than 5 a year.

  • true, Electric is the way, BUT, withe the increase of Wet Cell Batteries, that have a short life in comparison to the car itself, That's a lot of hazardous chemicals being disposed of. In short, America needs to walk or ride a bike instead of getting in a car, no wonder most of America is so fat.

  • I can name many cars that require 91 or higher octane. And Mobil has banned the sale of E85 to a retailer in NY. Its not just CA.
