It was a Mexican defeat because was an ambush, in the XIX century an ambush was dishonorable, because the honor codes & battle rules in those days dictated that the soldiers should engage face to face.
@singerheavy Lmao.It is not an ambush to fight where You have the advantage. The fields were deep with mud and that hinderd the Mexcan Army.I just love the lies Meico teaches its children. And w/15000 deserters it looks like the same old Mexican army!
@singerheavy an AMBUSH? DISHONORABLE? How funny? War is WAR! Santa Anna went back on his promises.....tore up the 1824 Constitution and designated himself, "Dictator for Life"....THEN MASSACRED hundreds of unarmed soldiers at GOLIAD. THEN SLAUGHTERED an estimated 250 men, refusing to take prisoners, at the Alamo. You don't GET honor, if you don't EARN it, or GIVE it yourself. He was allowed to LIVE for giving up Texas. THERE was the honor given by Sam Houston......
My wife and visited San Jacinto in Sept,. 2006 and they had the most vicious mosquitoes I have ever encountered. And their bites just didnt itch, they hurt like hell too.
@alexthebomb542 i know but if u go look at another video....like the alamo movie scene where the defenders die the mexicans are saying they won and they're the best when they out numbered texans....lol but really they just suck ass and cant fight
Really nice battle. Just wish I could have seen the whole thing. If I understand the original battle. Santa Anna knew Houston was in those trees and marched past him and camped by the water and cut him self off from escape. Is that correct?
Solechnaya is right, it's inaccurate, but we don't have two days and we'd use a lot more blood than we'd like to. The first skirmish (what we are portraying in the short bit you see) took place the day before the battle everyone remembers. As Nefarioso says, took only 18 minutes (although the killing went on much longer) and the Texians against all odds actually won.
Read 'Texian Iliad' if you get the chance. There's a more to the history of Texas than what was taught to you in school.
Who knows why she was wearing the confederate flag? She was part of the public, not one of the reenactors. Its not the first time that a Texian war of independence reenactment was mistaken for a Civil War reenactment. I know. I've lost count of the times we were told "we'll lick 'em next time, Jesse!".
Thank you very much for filming this for one and showing it on youtube as well. I'm one of 'those guys,' and it's nice to see that me and my friends were recorded doing what we love to do.
there was hardly any firing of weapons because most of the American Dragoons powder became wet from rain, almost all of the deaths of Americans in the battle was from lance wounds, and the Americans were totally routed.
Read John S.D. Eisenhowers "So far from God so Close to America"
You must be confusing this with another battle. The Texian army under Sam houston routed the Mexican army in 18 minutes, killing over 600, while losing 9. Santa Anna was captured and signed over all Mexican rights to Texas in exchange for his life, April 21, 1836.
Easy Sole..the fighting at San Jacinto took place over several days. The reenactment depicts some of the skirmishes as well as the final assault within a 1 hour timeframe (no one is going to sit around to watch the actual timeline) The video features depictions some of the skirmishes. The actual final assault reenactment occurs shortly after these skirmishes.
@200092 Texas would later join the Confederacy in 1860s even though Governor Sam Houston (The same guy who led Texas to victory at the Battle of San Jacinto) was Texas to stay out of the Civil War and return to a republic!
I would of much have a problem if texan took texas and it was a its own country what bothers me the most is when they join the union.

Sam Houston was a great commander. At this battle 8 Texians dies, and over 600 Mexicans died. The men who lost their lives at the Alamo were avenged.

Why was that lady wearing a confederate flag. Texas Independance didn't have anything to do with that.
