We Pro-Choice people should support a bill requiring all women considering becoming nuns to submit to a trans vaginal ultrasound probe. "Ridiculous!" "Medically unnecessary!" you say? So is forcing a trans vaginal ultrasound probe on women seeking an abortion.
My neighbor was raped by her father when she was 15. She got an abortion. This is good. Can you imagine having to raise a baby like that? No-one is "Pro-Abortion", I HATE abortion. But sometimes it is necessary. But personally, it shouldn't be up to some super-rich Christian government official whether or not a woman should have to raise a baby or not. Pro-choice.

#1 the money given to planned parenthood by the government does not fund abortion
#2 the focus of planned parenthood is not abortion - they give important screenings and tests for STDs and cancer. Yes, planned parenthood can help you prevent and detect breast, uterine,, cervical, prostate, and testicular cancers.
#3 abortion is a 'real health care service' to low-income women
@meehee45 In what way is an abortion "health care"? "Family planning" might have been a better argument. Unfortunately, they call themselves Planned Parenthood, but they should be called Planned Deparenthood because they help people NOT to become parents. If the evidence is so overwhelming, where is the evidence that they assist parents with parenthood? Adding a few services to look like a "healthcare service provider" is like a drug dealer with a paper route. It's a front.
#1 As government funding for Planned Parenthood increases, so does the number of abortions. As funding goes down, so does the number of abortions. Why? Fungibility. Oh, and practical judgement.
#2 Planned Parenthood does not provide any necessary services that are not offered by primary health care providers.
#3 The destruction of one life for the purpose of avoiding inconvenience is unacceptable. Real health care would seek to protect the human dignity of everyone.

@MyassWins If we're talking a meterial sort of profit, I don't see any. Most crisis pregnancy centers are open because of donations from supporters. :P They're not raking in millions. If you think profit as in, "overturning abortion laws," and things like that well sure that's what they're hoping for, but that's a motivation, not a "for profit," goal.
I think a reasonable approach to abortion is to allow states to regulate or not regulate it. Roe v Wade should have never been heard and the court made scientific statements they were not qualified to make.
I personally think its immoral. There are all sorts of relatively affordable birth control options out there.
How does a woman have a "right" to have sex without any repercussions, either STD's or pregnancy? In order for that to be a "right" we have to take away rights of others!
Wow, from 3% to 98%! What a jump from the actual statistics. Though I wonder which is the real truth. On one hand you have PPH saying that abortion only takes up 3% of actual care given. Then you have a group that demonizes abortion due to religious reasons instead of logical ones. That hold rallys showing only one type of abortion(late term) even though they believe life starts at conception. Even their information is half assed as to what PPH services are...without use of rhetorical persausion
@thinker900 Of course...How foolish to utilize the Guttmacher Institute research, the very organization that RESEARCHES for PP...How idiotic to use facts rather than rhetoric. How utterly ignorant to give Abby Johnson credibility, being that she has a W-2 out there to prove she worked as head of one of PP's clinics for 8 years. I would be a total SCHMUCK to assume that Pro-Aborts (let's face it, you don't decrease abortions by promoting them) NEVER demonize REAL pro-women people. (continue)
@thinker900 You don't need religion to debunk abortion. By science and logic, It falls flat on it's own delusional face. Get facts, not bumper stickers from the back of cars when you drive
@thinker900 In Holland, it is legal to kill your toddler if you feel your "parenthood" is too much. I said LEGAL. By the logic that "legal makes ok" are you ok with people killing their toddlers? What would happen to a Dutch couple that came here and unknowingly killed their own child on the premise of "Oh, it's too much to handle...financial burdens ya know"?
@xcolompapi "Financial burdens"? What are you smoking? I'm assuming you're actually thinking of the laws concerning euthanasia. In the Netherlands, euthanasia of children under 12 is still technically illegal. However, prosecutors refrain from pressing charges if the physician follows something called the Groningen Protocol, which requires, among other things, the presence of hopeless and unbearable suffering in the child. Please refrain from such outlandish libel in the future. It benefits no1.
@themelonbread Did I say euthanasia? Have you ever visited the Netherlands? Know someone? I do, first hand. Just because you don't know it, doesn't mean it never happened. @xcolompapi You claim that "In Holland, it is legal to kill your toddler if you feel your "parenthood" is too much". You do realize how extraordinary this claim is? But, giving you the benefit of the doubt, I looked up "holland legal kill children" and I found pro-life sites complaining about Holland's permissiveness towards euthanasia. There was NOTHING about the extraordinary claim that toddlers who prove too much for their parents can be legally executed. Please, enlighten me where to look.
Abbie Johnson explaining her pro-life change of heart, on her Facebook the night she quit PP:
... after I have been working my whole big butt off for them and prioritizing that company over my family, my friends, and pretty much everything else in my life, they have the nerve to tell me that my job performance is "slipping." WHAT???!!! That is crazy. Anyone that knows me knows how committed I was to that job. They obviously do not value me at all. So, I'm out and I feel really great about it!
When asked for any details of the abortion she witnessed, Johnson said the patient was Black. Yet only 1 patient from Sep 26 was black, and at 6 weeks pregnant, there was no medical reason for a doctor to use an ultrasound to aid the abortion. PP has no record of an ultrasound-guided abortion performed on Sep 26. The Texas Dept of State Health Services requires an Induced Abortion Report Form, and no patients were listed on this form as 13-weeks pregnant on Sep 26, as Johnson says in her story
@themelonbread The book stated that THAT is how this said doctor worked. She also stated that PP did not do ultrasound-guided abortions, but to accommodate HIM they made the exception. Now the fact that PP, like some other doctor's offices I have been too (because we ALL know the staff NEVER makes mistakes and/or is NEVER negligent in what's recorded), if they did not record THAT fact, then it shows how negligent their staff can be....much like the statutory rape and sex trafficking they hide

According to their own fact sheet, Planned Parenthood helped 7,021 patients with prenatal care and logged only 977 adoption referrals in 2009. Those combined services account for just 2% of their services to pregnant women.

@EmilioGTre Where is your source? And total services of 3 percent kinda shows where most of their total budget is goin, talk on contraception, counselling and contraceptives themselves...
@JonnyPxN Once agin the source is the Annual Report of Planned Parenthood, and yes it shows they do plenty of activities with NON PREGNANT people, but they are very focused and single minded when a PREGNANT WOMAN arrives to their facilities with 98% of their services to woman under this condition being an abortion.

In Planned Parenthood fact sheet 2009 they list a total of 3 services that are exclusively for pregnant woman , the abortions (332,278), abortions, prenatal clients (7,021) and adoption referrals (977) , so from the services exclusive to pregnant woman you get 332,278/340,276 =97.6%.
