  • i bet that wendy lies about the stairs and kickboxing, ive seen people who exercise and you do not fit the bill. she clearly knows nothing about health. disgusting beast.

  • wow..a church I dont mind attending...this man needs to speak at every church in the south.

being obese is a result of "sin" .....this pastor is a fantistic example.

this jew is just angry that she is cant control her weight

"god" didn't create anyone fat...fat is a sum of choses...you chose to be fat, lazy and food greedy.

  • Im with the pastor, fuck fat people.

  • lmfao, sad and funny.

  • I am disappointed FOX didn't give Pastor Steve a chance to respond to Wendy. I have read the book and heard the sermon series, and Pastor Steve never implies that you don't love God if you are overweight. God has given us our bodies, and Pastor Steve is just sharing how God helped him to take better care of it. I don't get the controversy. Nobody is ever forced or guilted into using the program. Wendy, come and visit: you'll find we are a very diverse church.

  • The news anchor's a prick. Very intolerant of differing opinions. America needs to let go of the potato chips and off the couch.

  • they are putting words in the pastor's mouth! He didn't say what they are claiming he is saying. Fox is creating a controversy when there isn't one. Both guests have valid points, but that doesn't mean that there is an issue to fight over.

  • Pastor Steve is practicing what he preaches. This could be delicate issue. Today they had a 5K race and if you could talk to these people, they are happier on the inside and healthier on the outside. Some comments posted here are mean. I don't treat people mean who are overweight, it make me sad that people don't care. Wendy, I appreciate you posting the video for the world to see.

  • booya! wendy's right.

  • Oh no, he is thinking for his god. So what he says...his god says. Just another way to outcast people.

  • this is y i dont do christianity its bullshit. its against everyone. gay ppl. fat ppl. jewish ppl. its like u know what fuck u god u can go sick a dick

  • Your grammar is atrocious!

  • ur a faggot 4 worrieing about my grammar

  • Why thank you. It is my job to correct others in their spelling.

What you mean to say is, "You are a faggot for worrying about my grammar."

    You are welcome! :D

  • "A separation of God and weight." Brilliant!

Don't know if the *REAL* Wendy posted this. But if it is, bravo to you! You made some excellent points, and look so much more intelligent than the ridiculous religious guy. You're right, how dare he judge people?!!! What a hypocrite. Good for you!

Yay,We love Wendy--always the Snapple Lady!

  • it is in the bible, and how does she know what he thinks

  • "Why would you want people in your congrigation to feel guilty". HAHAH. I thought the entire religious cult of christianity was based on guilt!!!

  • Of course gluttony and sloth are deadly sins...I'm not even a Christian and I feel like I need to point that out. In fairness, I guess there's precendece for what that pastor is doing.

  • you complain an awful lot.

  • Fat people + God = Good mix of ignorant whiners.

  • I think religion is a nice source of motivation for people to get in shape and healthy. Now, Wendy, just said that she has done kick boxing and such. Now if you really work out like that every day... and eat healthy as claimed, um you wouldn't be overweight.

  • come as u are i could of swear god said that? god dont want all of us to be healthy then we wont member him so why is he making this suggestion??

  • -__- This guy even looks like a smiling douche.

    Ugh.

I actually gained weight from taking a drug. :( And It's easier to gain that to lose so struggling to lose weight is difficult because you make sacrifices, exercise and it takes a long time.

I don't enjoy being fat but it's not a reflection of my spirituality!

  • You know what...most of the time it's not overeating. I'm serious...it's really not. It's about poor food choices, lack of money to buy proper food, and/or health issues. Fix that Mr. Pastor Man...you want to tell ME I'm putting FOOD before GOD?!? That's the STUPIDEST thing I've ever heard. It's a case by case basis and to treat an entire congregation the same...that's just harsh. Way to be a Christian? Jesus Christ.

  • he has lost the weight and kept it off!! bring it Snapple Lady!

    how do i know??

    he is my pastor :)

  • Your Pastor is a douche. :D

  • only in America do we campaign for the rights of the obese, to the point where we can sue Disneyland and McDonalds. How many obese people do you think you'll find in Darfur right now? The point he's trying to make is Gluttony, which is found in the Bible. BTW, the words "Separation of Church and State" are still not going to be found in the Constitution. Now, go ahead and give me a thumbs down...

  • I totally agree with Wendy. There are many reasons why someone can become overweight. There are many health issues that are hard to diagnose that cause weight gain.

  • Wendy Kaufman has a point. To say that people are overweight because they love food more than God overlooks a range of other issues that contribute to obesity, namely genetics, diseases, and emotional issues. Secondly, a pastor is not supposed to be our life coach or motivational guru. His job is to preach the gospel, not help us with a diet.

  • While I do believe a body is a temple for God and should not be defiled, mixing your own beliefs with what is in the Bible is not exactly a smart thing to do. It drives people away from God and makes Christians look even worse than what society has portrayed us to be. Christians are still human beings, they're not perfect and still fall short of God's glory. All of humanity is in the same boat. Forgive me for preaching but it all goes back to the phrase "Nobody is perfect."

  • While weight measurements sometimes reflect bad eating habits, a sedentary lifestyle, and poor health and fitness, they don't always. In fact, there are many large, "overweight" (but fit) men and women who eat a balanced diet, exercise regularly, and enjoy excellent health (as indicated by their optimal blood pressure, blood cholesterol, and blood sugar levels). And, there are many "healthy weight" men and women who don't. Assuming health based on size is inaccurate and prejudice.

  • what an idiot..this makes me happy i'm agnostic and don't go to church!..so, if you're fat god doesn't love you? thats a horrible message..focus on stopping murder, rape, pedophilia, racism, sexism..not obesity..so, why doesn't "god" love you if you're overweight? does he hate the anarexics as well?

  • Hey Wendy it looks like this guy is going to be ready for your challenge in January he is still losing! The fall weight loss competition is doing great. He even wrote a book google bod4god. I don't see how this is harmful!

  • If it gives People another excuse to get thin then...why not? Not everyone is Religious (which is good) but to those who are...let them get healthy. Peace.

  • I agree that being too overweight isn't treating your body like a temple, but this guy is crazy. He should not be preaching these lies.

  • I agree obesity is for sinners.....they are gluttonous.

  • There is somthing homo erotic about this lol

  • "You know when your god hates and loves all the same people you do that he is man made."

  • Pretty sure most people here think this guy is using God as an excuse some kind of private goals, but they are wrong. People should take care of their bodies, which the Bible also says. So why is it bad to say Take Care of Your Body For God?

  • This guy will have a lot of egg on his face when he regains his weight.

  • Eh, whatever. If people don't like it, they can switch churches. Denominations and sects will sometimes have different beliefs that can be extreme like that. His little program might motivate some people though.

  • EVERYONE should read this:

    1. losing weight= taking care of the body GOD gave you this is his temple and you shouldn't harm it.

2 YOU ARE WRONG if you are fat and think that it is not preventable.|

  • 1. Losing weight is not synonymous with getting healther. It can be, but it isn't always true. Getting healthier can mean an improvement in diet and heightened levels of exercise, but that still doens't mean anyone will lose weight if they make that adjustment.

Why are you bringing Christ into this debate? Is it because you equate obesity with gluttony? Has this clip and other media gotten you completely bent on believing every overweight or obese person is unhealthy?

  • So...

If i decide to never eat ever again, and throw up everything i do end up eating, stand in front of the mirror and cry because i hate my body, but still lose a whole bunch of weight that'll make me happy? That'll make me healthy? That'll make Jesus love me more?

    Okay.

    I'll try just that.

  • believe it or not, we don't need religion to be compassionate... religions is wasteful and counterproductive (as are blind dogmas in general) to loving one another.

as for obesity, do you really need a "god" to tell you that being overweight is unhealthy? read any good scientific studies lately? accept it and move on.

  • ok being overweight is unhealthy. but saying being fat means you love food more than god is ridiculous

  • I absolutely agree Wendy! People should never equate being overweight with being unhealthy. Some thin people are very unhealthy with high metabolisms.

God made people with slower metabolisms. He loves us. That pastor makes it seem like if you're fat you don't love your body (your temple of the Holy Spirit) as much as a thin person. It's wrong, wrong, wrong.

Thank you for making a smart counterpoint!

  • gluttony is something that is harmful to your body and mind. eating at a buffet every once in awhile will not make god love you less, and the pastor didn't say that. the key is not to be overindulgent. if you have an extra twenty pounds around your waist, then say hello to increased risks of heart attack, stroke, diabetes, etc.. a fit body will help you live with a healthier mind.

  • I agree! Thanks for your comment loonachik.

    WENDY

  • Wendy, all is his doing is helping people that want help; he is making help availible. He is not forcing you to lose weight by saying that you are less worthy by being fat. In reality, none of us are worthy because we are sinful beings! Only Jesus makes us worthy, and all he is doing is giving the opportunity to lose weight.

  • Wendy, it's kind of upsetting to attack this the way you did. Have you even seen the sermon series? This pastor is a dear friend of mine and i also attend his church. You don't even know what he's trying to say because you won't listen. There's nothing wrong with what he's doing and every word you're putting in his mouth is wrong.

  • Go Wendy! You did a great job. Too bad this Zealot is foolish enough to jumble the grace of the bible into his own fight against obesity.

God Loves all of Us... If one can't accept that fact, how can they be considered Christian?

  • So this sanctimonious idiot is a former fatty, anti-fat zealot. He says he's not in any position to judge anyone, yet he certainly does.

Good for you for countering this dribble, Wendy. :)

  • Neil's to fat.

Praise the Lord for the skinny people!

  • your over opinionated, and you need to stop putting your veiws onto the world, i think you yourself have issues about being fat and you cant take the fact that maybe some people might want to lose wieght and if preaching about god will help them than good but dont turn it out to be some kind of prejudice agianist fat people because of your own insercuties of your own weight

  • i thought we were made IN THE IMAGE OF GOD, fat people included! he may have said...that our bodies are made for god...but i dont think he ever established which one was UGLY or BEAUTIFUL, HEALTHY or SICK or whatever. God doesn't look at you and say YOU'RE FAT, SKINNY, he says YOU'RE MY CHILD AND I LOVE YOU!

    xxx

  • wow...you actually think fat can be considered healthier than NOT fat? God didn't have to "establish which one" was healthy or sick...just look at the scientific FACTS. You're fat, then you're multiple times as likely to develop myriad health complications and die at a younger age. And the fatter you are, the higher those numbers go and the lower your age of death. I find it appalling someone in modern society could have the audacity to deny the facts proven by years of research.

  • I could refute if I wished, but I won't. All I can say is your attempt at using Science to combat religion is a bit flawed.

  • Hi HolyBarnacles. Thank you for your comment and your support! What is the flaw in the debate that you see? I would love to hear your opinion. That is what this is all about. Thanks again. XXX Wendy

  • Well I'm going to blog about the whole thing soon. It's going to be a good 1000 words. :p Be prepared...

  • I would love to hear this "refute." I find nothing flawed in what I said. (Although I do find it ironic you capitalized the word "science"). First off, there is nothing inaccurate about anything I stated. Second, I wasn't "combating religion." I was merely pointing

out that religion has absolutely nothing to do with determining whether a person is physiologically unhealthy.

  • You make the unempirical statement that fat is always unhealthy. That's where your statement is flawed.

  • Wait a minute...I thought an attempt I made to "combat religion with science" was flawed...now you tell me I said "fat is always unhealthy?" Can you even make an argument without putting words in one's mouth? First, "unempirical" is not even a word. But I assume you're trying to make the argument that my statements were made out of a lack of experience...This however is completely irrelevant because of my second point:

  • wow...you actually think fat can be considered healthier than NOT fat? God didn't have to "establish which one" was healthy or sick...just look at the scientific FACTS. You're fat, then you're multiple times as likely to develop myriad health complications and die at a younger age. And the fatter you are, the higher those numbers go and the lower your age of death. Your first statement.

  • I'm branding you because you think fat is always unhealthy. Fat as unhealthy is completly subjective.

I'm a thin man. I am nearly ten pounds from unveiling a six-pack. Unlike most people in my age, I am a part of a Size Acceptance organization.

I'm branding you because of your first statement and nothing more. Of course if you want to draw this out: Be my guest.

  • Wendy, that was pathetic. You totally misintepreted the pastor. you fail.

  • Hi Wendy!

this is nothing new. google weighdown diet (or workshop). And the results are indeed not good.

  • I love you Wendy! I am one of your biggest fans figuratively and literally! Loved you on Snapple Ads, and Celebrity Fit Club! Take Care of Yourself your putting out a great message!!

  • A god who's concerned with my BMI is not a god to which I'd entrust the fate of the universe. Kinda silly, no?

  • baptists suck

  • do you reckon jesus accepts homosexuals?

  • This guy is a total whackadoo. Religion is supposed to be about supporting each other, not dictating how people live their lives. Judge not lest ye be judged. Is this guy a nutritionist? Is he a doctor? Does Jesus speak directly to this guy and tell him we shouldn't be fat? If Jesus doesn't mind hanging with lepers and hookers I think he can overlook love handles.

  • You made me LOL. Literally. Thanks for your great insight. XXX WENDY

  • I agree with you Wendy...and i totally dont understand this preachers views...

  • I totally agree with you, Wendy, that this pastor is stigmatizing obesity by characterizing it as a condition which distances one from God. It's an unfortunate message, made worse by the deluded notion that dieting will help his congregation. Dieting doesn't work, as I've explained in my own videos (though lifestyle changes do).

    Your extemporaneous prowess shines here.

  • Thank you Terence. Having a dialogue with you and hearing your POV means so much. Hey, everybody!!!! Subscribe to this man...he is beyond AMAZING!!!!
