You are the mentaly retarded. I am Orthodox, Antiochian I go to the Patriarchate in Damascus when I go to Syria. In our church, the priest doesn't give comunion to these people because they are not Orthodox. The name Christian was taken in Antioch.

There were many migrations of people including priests from Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, and Jordan and they came to Kerala after the first century. They have been sending priests from the Middle East until the Portuguese came.

The 12 apostles/disciples are considered by the church as having received priesthood from Jesus, reference after the resurrection, Christ visited His 12 and breathed and blessed them. The state that I come from Kerala,India had one of the first Orthodox movements,before an European nations. St. Thomas one of the 12 apostles of Christ came to India, and was given permission from Hindu kings to build churches. We do refer to ourselves as Malankara Archdiocese of Syrian Church, we are proud of our history and relation to the Syrian Church. You on the other hand need to officially call your church Indian Orthodox, why not remove syrian and change the vestments too?

The relation between coptic and syrian are different than that of malankara and Syrian Church. The Malankara Church is part of the Universal Syrian Church as upheld by your 1934 constitution. The Coptic and Syrian are in communion with each other. That is a huge difference

This was beautiful! As a catechumen to the Orthodox faith in a ROCOR church I find this touching because it makes me realize what a big & diverse family I am joining. As I looked at the pictures they were not distant, foreign faces, instead they were people who are soon to be my brothers & sisters - how exciting!

uniden1970, I know that they are ancient sees, but as per the decisions of Council of Nicaea, Patriarch of Rome is first among equals, Alexandria second among equals and Antioch third among equals. So first understand that Patriarch of Antioch is only third among equals behind Rome and Alexandria.

Next understand that after Council of Chalcedon, when Pope Dioscorus of Alexandria got excommunicated and his miaphysite doctrine shunned as heresy, a major portion of church in Egypt followed him and a minor faction of church in Antioch under Jacob Baradeus followed the decisions of church in Egypt. And if you carefully study the history, there were instances when Jacobite Patriarch of Antioch was removed when Coptic Pope expressed displeasure about him.

Before that there were only bishops for each regions. So in 301 AD, when king of Armenia accepted Christianity and made Gregory its first Bishop the title Catholicos as Armenia was not part of Roman Empire.
Later when Church in Persia declared independence in 380 AD, they too adopted the title Catholicos as they too were outside Roman Empire. The statements show your lack of knowledge about church history.
Persian Church was accepted only because we though they were the true church, which was under the Patriarch of Antioch. They became a independent Church only after Nestorian heresy. Also their was theological studies in Malankara, as confirmed by Panteus, who came to teach in Malankara.
Even though the Patriarch of Antioch started a Maphrianate in Persia when Persian Church declared independence, none of those priests took an effort to come to Malankara to teach us about Nestorian heresy. It took the Catholic Portuguese missionaries to tell us that we were following Nestorius's heretical teachings.
Lastly, the Indian Orthodox always claims this Persian history...well why doesn't your church try to reconnect with that Persian Church which still exists, Us, Jacobites will gladly continue our forefathers traditions of pure Orthodox as part of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church....why remain under the traditions and customs of a "alien and foreign" Church, as you all claim?
Receiving the traditions and rule by a foreign patriarch is two issue. As I said before, just because church originated in Jerusalem, no other patriarchates come under Patriarchate of Jerusalem. Once a church community is formed, it is ruled by the indigenous bishop and that church community look after their own affairs. Parent church does not interfere into their day to day affairs. That is the tradition of early church. Universal authority was introduced by Pope of Rome.
First, you admit the Syriac Church is the Mother Church of Malankara and secondly there is absolutely no conclusive evidence to prove we followed Persian traditions, you need to understand when the Mor Gregorios came Malankara had been influenced by various churches, diluting the one true Syriac Traditions.

If you want to see true foreign rule and racism, look no further than the Catholic Church in India. They did not even get a Indian Bishop until much later. There was no association, no power to the people. Fully under the crutch of the Pope. Only recently did the Catholics gain power in India. Much different story for Syrian Indians.
Athhanasius went to Mardin and lied to the Patriarch that he was chosen by the people with the consent of the Malankara Metropolitan. During that time communications took a long time, lack of phone. Thus as soon as the Holy Father realized the truth he sent papers excommunicating Athhanasius. When the problem got worse he sent Mor Coorilose as delgate to defend the Syrian Church in India. This is why the Patriach came and had to reorganize the Church, so such things would not happen again.
The Church was under attack from protestants, that took everything to the courts. Thus it became intrgral to document all organizaion and power structure in Malankara in order to protect the Church. the people obsviously saw the same becuase they gave their Holy Father all such documents. That is why it was such a surprise when Vattersail went against all this.
Of course the Malankara Church helped financially...I don't know the records behind it, but you insistence that the Patriarch committed some grave sin when he asked for administrative authority is rather weak. The Patriarch did not ask he was given the authority by God, being head of the Church and defender of the faith. The Patriarch only insisted that all be written in case the courts get involved because in court matter we can simple say it was given by God.

If power was the purpose why form a association at all, just ordain bishops and put them directly under the Patriarch. If that was not a right decision, why the malankara church is getting divided into more dioceses even today. The relation between coptic and syrian are different than that of malankara and Syrian Church. The Malankara Church is part of the Universal Syrian Church as upheld by your 1934 constitution. The Coptic and Syrian are in communion with each other. That is a huge difference

But that doesn't mean that church should rule the new church. Once a church is formed, that church becomes independent. If your theory is to be applied, all the apostolic churches in the world should be under the Patriarchate of Jerusalem.

As far as Orientals are concerned, the Coptic Pope is first followed by Our Holy Patriarch. Now the Church in India is not a distinct church, it is part of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church. mr uniden1970, Patriarchates were formed under the directions of Roman Emperor Constantine, who for administrative convenience, divided his empire into three regions under the sees of Bishops of three major cities in his empire. Before that there were only bishops for each regions. So in 301 AD, when king of Armenia accepted Christianity and made Gregory its first Bishop the title Catholicos as Armenia was not part of Roman Empire.

Persian Church was accepted only because we though they were the true church, which was under the Patriarch of Antioch. They became a independent Church only after Nestorian heresy. Also their was theological studies in Malankara, as confirmed by Panteus, who came to teach in Malankara.

Even though the Patriarch of Antioch started a Maphrianate in Persia when Persian Church declared independence, none of those priests took an effort to come to Malankara to teach us about Nestorian heresy. It took the Catholic Portuguese missionaries to tell us that we were following Nestorius's heretical teachings.

Receiving the traditions and rule by a foreign patriarch is two issue. As I said before, just because church originated in Jerusalem, no other patriarchates come under Patriarchate of Jerusalem. Once a church community is formed, it is ruled by the indigenous bishop and that church community look after their own affairs. Parent church does not interfere into their day to day affairs. That is the tradition of early church. Universal authority was introduced by Pope of Rome.

If you want to see true foreign rule and racism, look no further than the Catholic Church in India. They did not even get a Indian Bishop until much later. There was no association, no power to the people. Fully under the crutch of the Pope. Only recently did the Catholics gain power in India. Much different story for Syrian Indians.

Athhanasius went to Mardin and lied to the Patriarch that he was chosen by the people with the consent of the Malankara Metropolitan. During that time communications took a long time, lack of phone. Thus as soon as the Holy Father realized the truth he sent papers excommunicating Athhanasius. When the problem got worse he sent Mor Coorilose as delgate to defend the Syrian Church in India. This is why the Patriach came and had to reorganize the Church, so such things would not happen again.

The Church was under attack from protestants, that took everything to the courts. Thus it became intrgral to document all organizaion and power structure in Malankara in order to protect the Church. the people obsviously saw the same becuase they gave their Holy Father all such documents. That is why it was such a surprise when Vattersail went against all this.

Of course the Malankara Church helped financially...I don't know the records behind it, but you insistence that the Patriarch committed some grave sin when he asked for administrative authority is rather weak. The Patriarch did not ask he was given the authority by God, being head of the Church and defender of the faith. The Patriarch only insisted that all be written in case the courts get involved because in court matter we can simple say it was given by God.

If power was the purpose why form a association at all, just ordain bishops and put them directly under the Patriarch. Main thing was to stop protestant reform, which means the church had to be organized and Faith is final, Under the protection of H.H. In Malankara the Church had no organization.

I think u do not know ORTHODOX pastors! Did u ever been in an orthodox monastery - have u seen their life full of fasting, prayer for all people - for the nature for animals....and they do not eat meat it is forbidden in monasteries and also many orthodox christians do not eat meat.
U should not ignore them but see them with all others. There are harsh one but ones full of mercy and love too. We should be balanced !

All true orthodox christians should stay away from eating meat. The holy fathers explain to us why: God created the animals not to be eaten by us, eating meat heats the passions.....and other reasons ( Please read St. Ambrose of Milan,...and others)

I am a former Roman Catholic by birth who's going through classes to become Antiochian Orthodox. Both the song and the imagery is beautiful, and I pray that one day the Oriental and Eastern Orthodox will unite. It's incredible to think you can trace your lineage back to Saint Thomas, just like the Coptic Church can trace their heritage back to Saint Mark. May God Bless.
