Even though I'm only 18, I use to love this song during the summer of when I turned 15. Lovely harmonies and sooooo much heartache in Carmen's vocals. One of the greatest bands ever!!! Should have been the next Beatles if you ask me.
When I was in the Navy, I was having breakfast at the Navy Y in Newport, Rhode Island watching a special of how a recording session goes and this song was chosen.
@MrGreekdealer I think I saw that show, or one like it, I remember they played "Go All the Way" and another, it was only a 30 minute show. wow, it was the early, early '70s
Thanks rwells47. The high notes the Band reaches with the heavenly voice of Eric leading the tune , is not nice. Is difficult but BEAUTIFUL!!! Those acute notes are pure gold. Congrats for the high quality of the sound.
@ITILII - yes the lyrics are there! If you "click" on the box below the video that has my name on the left hand corner- the lyrics will drop down! Ron
Dear YouTube friends/Dear Ron: I can remember 1973 and I got so sad when I heard RASPBERRIE'S "LET'S PRETEND" on the radio because my private life as a young man had been so hard. I still regard this as the saddest and best song I have ever heard. Surely, Eric Carmen is a genius and Raspberries members and songs are wonderful. THANK YOU RON. GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Great, underrated hit sadly never played on oldies radio today. Probably my favorite from EC and the Raspberries. Very unique the way it starts with no intro. WIP, an middle-of-the-road station in Philly, played this a ton when it was first released. Thanks for posting!
I had an Album called "Rasberries, Scratch and Sniff" I think. was that the name, or was it just a sticker?

I liked the lyrics to the song. The Raspberries did a terrific job in recording "Let's Pretend" from June 1973. Classic And Honest!! A Brilliant 6!!
