This music is why I can't embrace today's country. I tell people to look up Waylon, Vern Gosden, Merle Haggard, Gene Watson, Ricky Scaggs, Moe Bandy, Crystal Gayle, Charlie McClain, George Jones, Willie aor Johnny Cash just to name a few.
listen to john hutchinson fallen angels just google john hutchinson fallen angels on u tube or go to reverbnation john hutchinson to see latest news - coming to the states in the new year
Does anyone know how to find out about newer country artist that aren t involved in that mainstream junk. I know Waylon can never be repalced but it sucks knowing that the country singers today are just pawns not real men. What people think is country music today is like kidspop music.
This song reminds me of my old drinking buddy.We would party for days, then time catches up with you and your body can t bounce back like it did before. We would always have to ask each other what we did while we were blacked out, Those days are long gone but I learned a lot from them.He needes glasses bad but never wore them so any women that smelled good with a nice voice he thought they were good looking.
unfortunately jenkar69, the record labels wouldn't know talent, or recognize the older artists, if they fell on top of them. there are probably more of us than there are of them (older v. young) that we could bring it back if we have the cash to do so. afterall, the labels have their "nose" where the money is and that's the only thing that talks and that's all they care about...talent? not today anyway.
I'm a total Waylon nut. This is one of his absolute best recordings, and I've damned near heard them all. I sing this one all the time when I'm building my house because my two best friends are Billy - both certified hillbillies too, like me!
this song was probably for billy joe shaver

That song was written by Tony Joe White. I think he's playing harmonica on the record. Anyone know for sure?

it was 9 yrs ago today that Waylon passed on, leaving us great songs like this one and many many others.
RIP Waylon! I miss you and will never forget you. Thanks for the memories, the music and the personality. You are one of the best!

@Lynchstah I try not to dwell on the fact that he's gone too much, or I'll break down and cry. Every single time. RIP, Hoss.

AMAZING. Great job. They should re-release this song along with others and blow the new country back to where it came from. Nothing beats Waylon.

@jenkar69 I agree wholeheartedly

Well I believe Tony Joe White wrote it so who knows who it was written for - I think White knew Billy Joe Shaver and Willie...

Oh yeah...right. I was thinking Waylon wrote the song....it sure sounded like his style...but I guess not. Thanks for the update!

@recklesscharlie TJW's own version is at least as good as Waylon's.
