@666666MetalHead im sorry -3500??? Roman Empire was the post-Republican phase of the ancient Roman civilization, characterised by an autocratic form of government and large territorial holdings in Europe and around the Mediterranean in 44bc. so more like -44 to 476.
@aerik9 It's the Biritsh empire who had the largest empire in history, after it's the Mongols, then the Ottomans then the Romans. The largest of the Ancient Times, which were at -3500 to 476, was the Roman Empire(-44 to 476). At the Middle Ages it was the Mongols, At the Renaissance it was the Ottomans and today it's the British.
@666666MetalHead The Roman Empire I think was second to Mongols (by military force), and then the Ottoman, and then Spain, and then Persian, then Greek, then Third Reich, then Babylonian (I believe.) Nowadays there are no Empires, and in my opinion having colonies everywhere is not an empire, that is being a colonial power.
@666666MetalHead the largest empire in history was the british empire, the second lagest empire (and largest single land mass empire) was the mongolian empire founded by genghis khan and expanded by his son Ogedei. you are well off
@KingMas88 what? there weren't millions of christians. That's one of the most ridiculous exaggerations I've ever heard. There were roughly even numbers in most of the battes in the crusades and the Muslims probably had most after the unification under saladin.
i know its a game but there were 7000 greeks (including 300 spartans) vs 180,000 persions so the numbers were way off and the bridge is funny xD but still its only a ga,e but over all cool battle
lol i remember this. i would have 320(closest to 300) spartan hoplites and archers and give the enemy 3500+ troops. i did greeks vs persia/egypt/and some other team. and i would win by a huge lead until i realized that the seleucid army....CAN CROSS THE WATER..learned the hard way but still won =D by alot.
lol yay, finally someone who accounted for the 1000 greeks tht also had a big role in the fighting and tht they were the first ones to fight and spartans were reserves.

Lol, because the battle of thermopolye took place in the middle of a forest on a bridge. Kid, anyone can film themselves putting a few spartans in front of a bridge and watching people run into them. This is nothing like the actual battle. Not a single historical reference of anything. Where is the raining arrows? And the spartans didn't run at the end! This is pathetic. This is just some normal everyday battle you see in RTW that you filmed and slapped "Thermopolye" on so you could get views.
hm, i cant get that units, i download greek extended mod, but it has a problem, sometimes it going out, and i see the desktop, so i delete the mod....
well ok on one side we have the Spartans who had a Hoplon a large bronze shield which covered the torso, and on the other side we have the Persians who had shields maid from wicker hmmmmmmm i wounder who would win a streight up fight
Take out the archers, Xerxes believed that arrows were not necessary to win a battle, and many Generals back then thought it was sort of a cowardice think to do unless it was a sort of last ditch attempt.
@NexusRev I think that you might be wrong. Persians didn't consider a bow to be the weapon of a coward. After all ,the Immortals, their elite troops were armed with bows. Spartans considered using bows as cowardice, not the Persians.
Guys, if you can think just a little bit clever, you'are able to understand , that this war, this fight, is just a legend, it'snot proved that this battle has ever been started.
It's impossible , to hold with 300 man such a valley. It's clearly to much enemies for 300 man . Don't believe Hollywood!
Yes, there was ~7000 other Greeks that attempted to hold off the Persian invasion, however the other Greeks left to join the rest of the bulk of the army that Athens was supposedly going to send, or to return to their respected city states. and eventually led up to the Battle of Marathon that held off Xerxes and sent him packing back to Persia.
Marathon was 40 years before thermopolye. What the fuck are you talking about? I actually read that in a fucking book. I'm sick of all of this little fucking kids that think they are so smart because they looked on wikipedia after they saw the movie 300. You kids no nothing. Stop trying to act smart. Every time you see a pathetic attempt at a thermopolye battle on youtube half the comments are little fucking kids trying to act smart talking about a battle everyone knows about. Fuck off guys.
Word. Those little kids always fuck around spreading disinformation. The Battle of Thermopylae is a classical military battle that demonstrates the values of many force multipliers - i.e. Homeground advantage, bottlenecking, fortification, advanced training and equipment. Much of the Persian army was dedicated to light infantry. And for you little kids who don't know better: Spartan did NOT go into battle in leather speedos. They actually wore armor. Keep '300' in your fantasies.
Indeed, Jrv2005 may think that I am just a 'little kid', who doesn't know his information, but it's quite the contrary. He is the dipshit who decided to read my comment wrong, when there was indeed a Xerxes in command of the Persian forces on the Greek Peninsula during the Battle of Marathon, and Xerxes II was the commander of the Persian forces during Thermopylae and the campaign afterwards. Oh well, it's ok to criticize people when you are in fact wrong. I'm glad you know your stuff though.
Um...what the hell are you talking about? I know you can look stuff up on wikipedia. That's great. Apparently you didn't read my comment right because I never said anything about xerxes. You said that the battle of Marathon was after the battle of thermopolye, and you were in fact wrong. Nothing I said was wrong. Your just pulling random facts out of your ass that have nothing to do with anything. Please, wait until I comment back before declaring that you win the argument when you're an idiot.
There were more than one Xerxes. The Xerxes in the battle of Thermopylae was the son of the won that was defeated in Marathon. So I can relate to you, I will add some words. FUCK FUCK FUCK SHIT SHIT FUCK FUCK SHIT, FUCK FUCK! I AM SO ANGRY RIGHT NOW, I AM USING CAPS AND YELLING AT SOMEONE OVER YOUTUBE AND I THINK THAT BECAUSE OF MY MISUNDERSTANDINGS ITS PROPERLY JUSTIFIED TO YELL AT PEOPLE! RAWR! I AM SO MAD! Chill man.
Also, I love how you try to make your sentences look as sophisticated as possible to retain some sort of maturity. Believe me, I've encountered 100's of other idiots like you on the internet and those little strategies don't work. Feel free to comment back, I'll just make you look like an even bigger idiot. Or, you can turn off your computer, forget you got owned, and go masterbate in your restroom or something. Good luck with life dumbass.
Hm, guess you're right. Thanks for correcting me. I'll leave out the vulgarities judging by the fact that you already have used more than I normally see out of 10 average people in 10 average days. My apologies for my lack of knowledge in this subject and just for the record my friend. There were two Xerxes.
Oh, and if this couldn't get any worse for your reputation, I actually looked it up, and it was Darius that led that persians at Marathon, not xerxes. There was only one xerxes. I wasn't even arguing that, but thanks for proving my point that your a stupid little kid that doesn't know anything except for a few scattered facts you found on the internet. Nice job owning yourself dumbass.
But I just have a question; what type of sophistication am I attempting to use in my sentences? My multiple commas that are sometimes incorrectly placed in front of dependent clauses? Please I insist you make me look like an idiot by mindlessly spamming this guy's video. We could be mature and use message, or you could attempt to publicly humiliate me. I may be immature in your eyes, but at least I have the balls to apologize and admit I was wrong. Deflate your ego, asswipe.
Hah, silly me. I reversed everything. Marathon, lead by Darius the Great lead up to Thermopylae, a continuation of Darius' European campaign who was lead by Xerxes who was the son of Darius I believe. Hah...How stupid of me. I know what you're thinking too, I just want to see it come to light.
You kids come up with the most random insults. Slut? Randomly shouting things you heard your dad say to your mom isn't effective in an argument. There is a comment section on youtube to express your opinion of the video. His video sucks. Hence, I express the fact that it sucks.
I know, right? He used the same thing on me. I guess they didn't think that they're just as bad as us trying to demonize us when we were in fact just having a historical debate.
If you think you're clever...then you really need to open a book. Look up the battle of Sparta. Obviously YOU are the only one who bought into the Hollywood crap..thinking it wasn't "real". It was REAL...to a point. Hollywood's take on Sparta was true...their take on the battle half true. 7,000 Greeks fought at the battle. 300 Spartans chose to stay after being betrayed. The remainder left. Next time do your reserch before you make your ideas public. Stupidity is communicable.
Not only Arabs. Their location is world wide. And remember. The Arabs converted the persians into Muslims. That's why I consider some of the Al Qaeda members to be Persians.
the movie is actually more real than fake, except for lots of the creatures they put in it... like there were actually 300 spartans, they fought at the hot gates, and all died... Now the 10000 spartans at the end not sure about..
300 Spartans yes, but there were 1000 other Greeks that died with them, and they all died at Thermopylae, but there were many more Greeks before the Persians got behind the Spartans, so it is right in many ways.
Lol. That's a bridge, And seriously why do everyone have to discuss history and insult Persians they're country do not exist Persia is now Iran and maybe Irak (I'm not sure about
Irak) And sorry if I spell Irak wrong I don't tend to study other nations names in english :)
In English, Iraq is spelled with a Q instead of a K. And I'm not sure about it once being part of Persia, I think it may have just been Iran. But I'm no scholar so I'll leave it up to someone else to decide. ;)
They very much were. But the problem with Persian battle strategy revealed itself in the battle of Thermopylae. The Persian's relied heavily on Chariot and Calvary forces drawn from the noble classes, while the main foot force were usually poorly-trained and equipped peasant levies. On the wide plains of Anatolia, this strategy worked fine, but in the narrow passes of the Peloponnese, this strategy couldn't work, forcing the Persians to rely on their peasant levies.
Dude Persians were the strongest and largest moving force... But spartans r just trained at age 7 to fight and they only keep normal babies, any little problem and they r fed to wolves.
Strength in numbers, most of the soldiers were conscriptions and untained soldiers given crap gear and were used as cannon fodder to weaken the enemy forces so the "Immortals" could come and destroy the tired army.
Uhhh bizzar0pope, you can produce something a like the Thermopylae pass. You should look up moe videos. I've created a pass alike it before, so ummm back off.
Nice, someone who actually knows who was at the battle.

1) they're peltasts
2) The greeks employed skirmishers to support the hoplites. The Spartan skirmishers would have been helot slaves

well ok on one side we have the Spartans who had a Hoplon a large bronze shield which covered the torso, and on the other side we have the Persians who had shields maid from wicker hmmmmmmm i wounder who would win a streight up fight
viperste23 3 years ago
Take out the archers, Xerxes believed that arrows were not necessary to win a battle, and many Generals back then thought it was sort of a cowardice think to do unless it was a sort of last ditch attempt.
NexusRev 3 years ago
@NexusRev I think that you might be wrong. Persians didn't consider a bow to be the weapon of a coward. After all ,the Immortals, their elite troops were armed with bows. Spartans considered using bows as cowardice, not the Persians.
AvengeWithDarkness 1 year ago
Guys, if you can think just a little bit clever, you'are able to understand , that this war, this fight, is just a legend, it'snot proved that this battle has ever been started.
It's impossible , to hold with 300 man such a valley. It's clearly to much enemies for 300 man . Don't believe Hollywood!
slipknoter92 3 years ago
The Greeks were numbered 7000, not 300. 300 Spartans are only among the 7000 Greeks who fought in Thermopylae.
gerardaddict 3 years ago
Yes, there was ~7000 other Greeks that attempted to hold off the Persian invasion, however the other Greeks left to join the rest of the bulk of the army that Athens was supposedly going to send, or to return to their respected city states. and eventually led up to the Battle of Marathon that held off Xerxes and sent him packing back to Persia.
NexusRev 3 years ago
Marathon was 40 years before thermopolye. What the fuck are you talking about? I actually read that in a fucking book. I'm sick of all of this little fucking kids that think they are so smart because they looked on wikipedia after they saw the movie 300. You kids no nothing. Stop trying to act smart. Every time you see a pathetic attempt at a thermopolye battle on youtube half the comments are little fucking kids trying to act smart talking about a battle everyone knows about. Fuck off guys.
Jrv2005 3 years ago
HeavyOrdnance 3 years ago
Indeed, Jrv2005 may think that I am just a 'little kid', who doesn't know his information, but it's quite the contrary. He is the dipshit who decided to read my comment wrong, when there was indeed a Xerxes in command of the Persian forces on the Greek Peninsula during the Battle of Marathon, and Xerxes II was the commander of the Persian forces during Thermopylae and the campaign afterwards. Oh well, it's ok to criticize people when you are in fact wrong. I'm glad you know your stuff though.
NexusRev 3 years ago
Um...what the hell are you talking about? I know you can look stuff up on wikipedia. That's great. Apparently you didn't read my comment right because I never said anything about xerxes. You said that the battle of Marathon was after the battle of thermopolye, and you were in fact wrong. Nothing I said was wrong. Your just pulling random facts out of your ass that have nothing to do with anything. Please, wait until I comment back before declaring that you win the argument when you're an idiot.
Jrv2005 3 years ago
You probably looked it up on Wikipedia, and since I was wrong I guess I didn't, thanks friend.

Jrv2005 3 years ago
Chill man.
NexusRev 3 years ago
Also, I love how you try to make your sentences look as sophisticated as possible to retain some sort of maturity. Believe me, I've encountered 100's of other idiots like you on the internet and those little strategies don't work. Feel free to comment back, I'll just make you look like an even bigger idiot. Or, you can turn off your computer, forget you got owned, and go masterbate in your restroom or something. Good luck with life dumbass.
Jrv2005 3 years ago
Hm, guess you're right. Thanks for correcting me. I'll leave out the vulgarities judging by the fact that you already have used more than I normally see out of 10 average people in 10 average days. My apologies for my lack of knowledge in this subject and just for the record my friend. There were two Xerxes.
NexusRev 3 years ago
Oh, and if this couldn't get any worse for your reputation, I actually looked it up, and it was Darius that led that persians at Marathon, not xerxes. There was only one xerxes. I wasn't even arguing that, but thanks for proving my point that your a stupid little kid that doesn't know anything except for a few scattered facts you found on the internet. Nice job owning yourself dumbass.
Jrv2005 3 years ago

I respect you admittance. Most people wouldn't admit they were wrong. Good job.

You kids come up with the most random insults. Slut? Randomly shouting things you heard your dad say to your mom isn't effective in an argument. There is a comment section on youtube to express your opinion of the video. His video sucks. Hence, I express the fact that it sucks.
Jrv2005 3 years ago 2
I know, right? He used the same thing on me. I guess they didn't think that they're just as bad as us trying to demonize us when we were in fact just having a historical debate.

be quit slipknoter92 there notmen there spartans
shadowsfat16th 3 years ago
If you think you're clever...then you really need to open a book. Look up the battle of Sparta. Obviously YOU are the only one who bought into the Hollywood crap..thinking it wasn't "real". It was REAL...to a point. Hollywood's take on Sparta was true...their take on the battle half true. 7,000 Greeks fought at the battle. 300 Spartans chose to stay after being betrayed. The remainder left. Next time do your reserch before you make your ideas public. Stupidity is communicable.
mantic0251 3 years ago 2
were you back in the time of Sparta and Greece and all the other things? i didnt think so so how do you know that they cant hold them off?

From Persia to Al Qaeda. what is the link between these? Al Qaeda's people are Arab.
alitalebi1988 3 years ago
Not only Arabs. Their location is world wide. And remember. The Arabs converted the persians into Muslims. That's why I consider some of the Al Qaeda members to be Persians.

From Persia to Al Qaeda. What will Iran do next?
gerardaddict 3 years ago
the movie is actually more real than fake, except for lots of the creatures they put in it... like there were actually 300 spartans, they fought at the hot gates, and all died... Now the 10000 spartans at the end not sure about..
RunescapeFreakAddict 3 years ago
300 Spartans yes, but there were 1000 other Greeks that died with them, and they all died at Thermopylae, but there were many more Greeks before the Persians got behind the Spartans, so it is right in many ways.
Iwillaimaturhead 3 years ago
Lol. That's a bridge, And seriously why do everyone have to discuss history and insult Persians they're country do not exist Persia is now Iran and maybe Irak (I'm not sure about
Irak) And sorry if I spell Irak wrong I don't tend to study other nations names in english :)
saggsett 3 years ago
In English, Iraq is spelled with a Q instead of a K. And I'm not sure about it once being part of Persia, I think it may have just been Iran. But I'm no scholar so I'll leave it up to someone else to decide. ;)
Frost2k6 3 years ago
The Persians managed to conquer the middle east, Asia Minor, Egypt and Iran. And yet, Hollywood betrays them as pathetic.
If you actually believe this movie, you really need to read some books.
Cordman1221 3 years ago
@Cordman1221 Persians were actually brave soldiers and skilled in fighting in open areas.
AvengeWithDarkness 1 year ago
@AvengeWithDarkness
Cordman1221 1 year ago
@Cordman1221 Indeed. Greek Hoplites were far superior in close quarters combat.

Dude Persians were the strongest and largest moving force... But spartans r just trained at age 7 to fight and they only keep normal babies, any little problem and they r fed to wolves.
RunescapeFreakAddict 3 years ago
Strength in numbers, most of the soldiers were conscriptions and untained soldiers given crap gear and were used as cannon fodder to weaken the enemy forces so the "Immortals" could come and destroy the tired army.

Uhhh bizzar0pope, you can produce something a like the Thermopylae pass. You should look up moe videos. I've created a pass alike it before, so ummm back off.
