@yongmyster Actually, transcription is the process of re-setting a work of music written for one instrument so that you can perform it on another. Whether or not the two instruments share a common tuning system is irrelevant.
ever since I started percussion, which was in 4th grade... so I guess 13 years? I didn't start getting serious about marimba until 3 or 4 years ago though... and I didn't start playing with that grip until about 2 years ago.
well, i don't have this marimba anymore--that one was a 4 octave musser. I sold that last summer, now I have a 5 octave Adams--robert van sice series. Adams puts out some kickass instruments :D
Okay. I'm about to audition for Drum Corps, I'm section leader of the Front at my High School, and if you have music for this... (IS THERE MUSIC FOR THIS?!) I want it SO BAD. That was SOOO COOL!
I've never heard of a "japanese grip".. maybe traditional grip would fit that description. But no, I play with Stevens grip, which is largely an American-born grip (maybe you could throw in a little New Zealand, because that's where Stevens learned [and later modified] musser's grip)
go on google im ages and type super mario theme sheet music look through theme and there should be a piano version but you can can play with 4 mallets like he did
i am still amazed to see people play this with four mallets, even though i've seen it for two years. xD but, the more and more i watch, the more i think about how hard it is to handle all four with to eyes and just your knuckles.
I don't know why you think you did so terrible, that was great! Most other videos I see of the marimba have two people and you managed to do it just as well by yourself. That's something to be proud of :P
i wanna play this so much.when i asked in a music shop if they had the sheet music they laughed at me.they're soooo snobby.did you get it off the internet or does anyone know where i can get it?
man, i feel so behind...i haven't even learned to do 4 mallets yet! but i'm gonna try out for the b.a pit, and broken arrow won the grand nationals in 2006, so they're really good. good job!
im learning this right now on marimba and i learned it from music and by watching the music and watching and hearing u play the notes u r almost right on it 5/5 nice job!
something ive been trying to work on that you show very well is keeping the mallets that ur not using very still while the others play. like in ur left hand
yeah, that's definitely a pain in the ass at first. there were some great exercises in the Stevens method of movement book that helped me with that, check those out if you have that book!
Billion times better than what I could have done, props :)

LOL you don't transcribe music for marimba, bells, or xylophone, its already concert pitch.

Yeah... We got our asses kicked by Broken Arrow at the St. Louis Regionals. We at least made finals, but our two performances were just poor.
We did a lot better at the Broken Arrow competition a week or two prior to Regionals, but Broken Arrow wasn't competing in that one.
