  • Awesome I have the Ultra lll on its way!! great playing !!!

  • Comment removed

  • @mickey5241 The ultra Ii is my go to guitar I love it. Your problems are real and need to be fixed by a good guitar setup guy/luthier, unless you recently got it then it may be under warranty and you can get it fixed by the company or exchanged. When I got mine it broke the g string constantly I finally had my guy get it fixed, then no more worries.

  • that was nice. do you think you can also make a tele sound like les paul?

  • Fair play, your really good on guitar, ive got the epiphone les paul ultra, great choice.

  • WOW! Man you are amazing!! where did you learn how to play like this??

How many years have you been playing guitar?? :O

  • @emilio911911 Hi and thanks for your kind words.

    41 years at the fretboard. : ]

  • How heavy is the Ultra II - any idea?

  • @AlanSturgess -it is much lighter than a regular LP, as the body is chambered.

Probably under six pounds. It's also contoured for your ribcage as well, taking off still more weight.

  • @GuitarGare Thanks - that fits with another uploader who reckons the Ultra II weight 5.6 lbs (2.5jg). Thanks.

VERY interesting demo - unusual and at times really reminiscent of Jerry Donahue playing a Telecaster! It's such a treat not to see a demo which is just distortion and shredding! Thanks again.

  • AMAZING TALENT !!! Good radio voice too. Why this guy isn't making a bundle recording I'll never know. Too much radio airwaves bastardized with half baked talent posing as "artists". Gary, I could listen you you play all day! Please make some more videos with a backup band! Or put something up on reverbnation and people can pay you for it! I'd be a continual subscriber !!!

    Thanks for making my day!

  • @ThePeaceOfJesus I was just reading over the comments again while answering another question and saw this. Thanks for your kind words. I live in a market that I have described as the "Black Hole of Charisma". London, Ontario, Canada. Because of varying polarized market skews that comprise this city, nothing impresses anyone. The musicians that live here are the toughest people on earth. We have been ignored by the best. New York? Don't make us laugh. Madison Ave. uses us for product testing.

  • what DIDNT take over the telecaster?

  • Holy shit that was epic.

  • Some parts of the music 2:02, I remember some of Phil Keaggy.

    You are a great musician.

  • @TheEl7ohim

This is interesting. I don't listen to Phil Keaggy, but I know who he is, so thank you.

  • is that worth the money?

  • @jgomes1992 If you do buy one, the only thing I would suggest is to tell the store to put two more screws in the plastic plate that holds the two input jacks.

Yes, worth it, because the pickup that is in the last fret is a unique sound that you will not find in any other guitar, acoustic or electric, period. When you blend that in, you have more fidelity than most.

It's the same material that went into Charlie Christian's guitar. Cobalt & Magnesium.

  • Very nice review!

  • i could have listened to that stuff all night, thanks so much for this and lets have more!!

  • I have this guitar it's is great for it's price range

  • Was this Garrison Keillor doing the review? Nice pickin'!

  • omg....im gettin tht exact guitar for xmas....it looks and sounds awesome [=

    good job

  • on this video, it's snappier, but I'm plugged into an amp with 4 8" speakers.

    It's a Roland 408.

A very unpopular, but interesting piece of gear.

  • Ronaaalllldddoooooo.

  • man that sounds good!! which is good cos im waiting for one of these to arrive at my door soon!!

great playin man! i love your style! wish i knew some of those moves!! lol

  • you rock!

  • It's best to ask someone that has already done this. Also, the pick, the amp, the strings, and the player also come into play when considering this, correct?

  • Wow I have that guitar, but man please teach how to accomplish those harmonic moves with your right hand

  • hi Mat, and thanks again for your interest.

I may do this in an upcoming video if I can possibly find the time.

    lol

    : )

  • @GuitarGare How long have you played??? You are a great player.

  • @ALKOoftheworld

thank you very much, Alko. I have been playing for 41 years.

  • @GuitarGare 41 !! wow

  • thanx for the answer, do u think is would sound great id i put ur pick ups in a fender strat alder bo

    dy?

  • How would you compare the neck of an Epiphone PR5-E acoustic guitar to this epi les paul's neck, in terms of size and shape?

BTW, did you change the pickups on this guitar.

  • thank u really much for ur answers.

you said that ur humbucker are seymour duncan, could you tell me what model please? and with what amp do u recomend to use this guitar?

I play mostley hard rock but, my style is like santana or acdc

  • Duncan Alnico II Pros in the neck position and a Seymour Duncan Custom/Custom in the bridge position.

  • Hi man, awesome playing, what amp are you using?

Would you rate this guitar as a professional guitar?

Are the humbuckers excellent or would u change them?

the reason because I'm asking is because I'm thinkig of getting this guitar and here in paraguay we don't have that guitar on stock, and because of the distance it wolud cost me 900box with out a hardcase, do you think that it is worth the money?

I would really aprecciate ur answer

    Thank you so much =)

  • Well, it's much lighter than a Les Paul, it gets many different tones and is more versatile than a Les Paul in that regard. The Chinese craftsmanship is stellar, and as for the pickups, they put some special ones in for me...Seymour Duncs aftermarket stuff that was split, so I don't know what to recommend as I don't know your tastes. The nano mag pickup, the contour body shape for your ribs, and the lighter weight will all be pluses and a good reason to get it.

    + good low action.

  • fantastic!!! i love the way you are playing!!!nice work!!!

  • what's your job i figure something in music but what exactly?

  • lol

  • YEa! and its made in KOREA!!! ;) awesome vid by the way.... thanks... im gonna buy my ultra 2 in los angeles next week monday

  • Hi, and thanks for your kind words.

This guitar, according to all sources, (and I'm an official endorsee, by the way) was built in Qingdao, China.

If you Google up the phrase:Epiphone factory tour, the words Qingdao factory tour will come up, and you will see the factory.

  • Amazing sound!! I'm waiting for my ultra II. I was btwn Ultra II or Gibson Studio, but I chose Ultra, I hope that was a correct option! My respects from Colombia !! You're amazing!!!

  • Thanks very much, I hope you enjoy your new guitar!

    gare

  • haha, surely that guitar and amp sounds nice, but with the touch you have, you could make an ESP with active EMG's sound similar (with some tweaking of course). Please post some more videos, I could listen to your playing all day.

  • I thank you for your comments. : )

I guess if you were to subscribe, you would get notification in email. I just put up another one last night from a clinic from a couple of years ago.

    gare

  • Keep up your awesome work Gare! :)

Just so you know, from 2:01-2:14, it makes me smile. I just think that's a "McGill signature" of sorts.

    See you soon big fella!

  • im getting this guitar in a couple of days and was wondering what your setting on your amp and on the back of the guitar were?

  • well, hazzza, that's a funny thing.

I have no idea what the back is doing, the buttons are small, & I can't see that well. For me, it's a tweak that has to do with sound.

I could tell you for instance exactly what settings I had here, and you could get a different sound at home.

: ) thanks for the add.

    gare

  • Sounds pretty good, Gare!!

  • thanks much, Lisa!

    : )

  • I put it on the scale and it seems to be about 6.5 lbs.

    : )

I may be off by a bit.

I will be going through a lot more guitars.

    Subscribe if you like.

    gare

  • Nice playing and guitar, could you tell us what is the exact weight of this guitar?

  • Excellent video! Blown away by the kind of tone you're getting from the guitar. Nice demo, nice playing!

  • Thanks very much, Ark. there will be more to come, as I haven't quite gotten it yet, and also, YouTube seems to have cut almost a whole minute from the direct to server recording that I have made...If you would like to subscribe, that would be nice.
