  • Queen of Soul. Take a look, young folks. Take a good, soul-based look. This kind of power can be translated into your own affairs, hopefully breeding integritty of purpose. Go high with soul like 'Re did and so many others of that golden moment in time that music took heart and stomach into one direction.

  • PATTI VERSION, BETTER!!!!

  • @vangoghmatisse1 ha ha hell yeah!

  • So what year was this?

  • this was shown on channel 7 as a documentary.

  • god bless you aretha I love you i'm praying for you sweetie

  • Get well your majesty !!!

  • "...to sing it whenever the world falls part" what a stunning line. Thanks Mr. Harburg

  • Both Pattii and Aretha did a spectacular job...different R&B styles, but both good....I, myself is more of a Patti fan, but again they both were good.....

  • God Bless ... what a talent!

  • I love this, I remember watching this back in the day. Aretha is the best. Thanks for sharing

  • She's SOOO beautiful here.

  • @a1d2h check out patti labelle's live version.

  • @stillwill2215 this one is ten times better than the patti video, patti seems like a bunch of screachy noise to me

  • @music95love you forgot to put "in my opinion" at the end of your comment. this version bores me to tears while Patti's is exciting and colorful. different strokes for different folks and its all good

  • @atolm1 well "my opinion" begs to differ, but everyone has different taste, you find patti exciting,, while i find her awful

  • second only to patti labelle's version. and debra cx's. oh, and laura branigan's. oh yeah, and- oh forget it...... she sang it.

  • This is my favorite proformence of this song because of the footage of Pastor C. L. Franklin preaching and his home going.

  • This is wonderful. Thanks for sharing. I got goosebumps...and that rarely happens anymore :)

  • God Bless you, Aretha!!! You will see your father again.

  • Well, I hope it won't be very soon, though... I would like to see her doing a couple more album before she does that... :-)

  • agree

  • One of the greatest tributes!

  • This is the BEST, she is and will always be the Queen of Soul! Real Singers FAN.

  • i was always lookin for this songs every since i seen this on PBS a while back take God I finally found it i love it it makes me cry

  • Godness im suprised she never damaged a vocal cord. When i first heard this clip my eyes kept becoming filled with water. A great tribute her father but it was too short. Aretha my dear you I take my hat of to you and those cuddly arms.

  • This was actually a filmed live concert in Detroit, MI at the Mosanic Temple Theatre. By the time she got to this song, she had sang so long and hard that she was losing her voice. I attended this concert, and will never forget the awesome love and happiness she brought to everyone there. She got so many standing ovations!! This is that same concert that featured Charles Nicks and the St James Adult Choir. All of her siblings were alive and in the audience then.

  • Godness im suprised she never damaged a vocal cord. When i first heard this clip my eyes kept becoming filled with water. A great tribute her father but it was too short. Aretha my dear you I take my hat of to you and those cuddly arms.

  • just beautiful !

  • For a great read check out A Step Into Deliverance by Toni Pugh. Powerful! And a real page-turner.

  • my girl!

  • This was a beautiful tribute to a beautiful man...He was wonderful

  • A prodigy of a voice her dad said it best.

  • Aretha baby, I know that pain! What a calm this lady has in her voice.

  • Wow this is moving!

  • Beautiful.................thanx for posting. This is really beautiful, I love seeing pics of Aretha's dad, u see where she gets it from. The Queen reigns forever......

  • A beautiful rendition by Aretha, this concert was on HBO and was recorded to spotlight the restoration of Detroit's Fox Theatre. The clips of her Father, and Dr. King add to the reason for her love of this timeless song.
