is it me or this does Victor Wooten always play this kind of acrobatic bass material is more flash than smash. He is more enjoyable to listen to when he is with the Flectones rather than doing his solo material.

Wooten has grown more musical over the years, but people tend to listen to him with prejudices carried over from past years.
Yes, there is flash, but there is plenty of "smash" there as well.
