As any one got any full Family Fortunes colour screen episodes fron 1987 i saw 2 of them on Challenge 2/3 years back and really enjoys watching them if you do plz upload thanx
Les Dennis was a good host of this show but it was always cringe-inducing when he began his 'impressions'. That new-style board looks like it gives off some high level radiation! No wonder they switched it back.
Family Fortunes was first filmed at the Nottingham Lenton Lane studios in the late 1983 series with Max Bygraves (the series which featured the most famous ever episode - TURKEY!), and I remember Les Dennis pointing out that the show was made in Nottingham in the early 90s. I don't recall a time when the moved to Birmingham. The only time I know of Family Fortunes in Birmingham is when they filmed it at the old Elstree studios between 1979 and early 1983.
That colour board that was used during Les Dennis' first series of Family Fortunes was absolutely disgusting and makes people want to reach out for a sick bag.
I'm glad they got rid of it for Les'2nd series in 1988 and reinstated the old scoreboard!
Aidan - it was something along the lines of Les having some banter with the audience, and the board responded with a big 'euuh-uuh', it's a long time since I saw it so can't remember exact details.
Interesting in how the colour scoreboard only lasted for this series. I remember seeing the repeats of this on Challenge... the board didn't like Les as I undertsand it in one episode...
Has anyone got an episode of Family Fortunes with the coloured scoreboard?

Is there any reason why the TVS slides look exactly like Channel 4 ones. Font is similar, logo position etc.

Is the LWT programme at the start Blind Date?
devongasman 3 years ago 4
A friend of mine has found a newspaper from June 27th 1987 and the LWT programme finishing was Blind Date which was the last episode of series 2.

Haha, in a classic 80s style that logo is gloriously incomprehensible.

Looks like it was by the same people who designed the opening titles for Yorkshire's Good Morning Calendar.

i wonder if someone could post a full episode with the color scoreboard, or as the UK sez it, COLOUR?
segasonic623 4 years ago 4

1tardising 4 years ago 4
well I don;t see why the viewers did that. I would have thought it would have fitted in with 80s fasions!
AidanLunn 4 years ago 4
I quite liked the colour board. Its the modern one in the Vernon Kay version I don't like.
Inverdarroch 4 years ago 7
Completely agreed. It's TOO modern. The dot matrix board was used up to the 2003 daytime version, so why bother changing it?

where was Family Fortunes being filmed in 1987 allenjeremy?
1tardising 4 years ago 4
I think it was filmed at Central's Studios in Nottingham.

He was doing an impression of Max Bygraves as he hosted Family Fortunes before Les Dennis.
allenjeremy 4 years ago
so why was Max Bygraves doing that then? what the hell was he on!
queenpunk1987 4 years ago
Max Bygraves became the host after Bob Monkhouse defected to the BBC in 1983.
allenjeremy 4 years ago
like most impersonations, it's exaggerated.
