App is not yet generally available. It has evolved quite a bit since this dev. demo, and acquired lots of new features. It's only in the last few months that we've begun testing in a clinical (rad onc) setting. We plan to release it as a product mid-year. It's currently designed around an in-dept server, so it may not go on the And Mkt. We're also considering a variety of models to suit occ. use and other medical specialties. We agree -- and are delighted we're just a couple of days away now from being able to test the Samsung Galaxy Tab device, which at 1024x600, 7 inches and less than a pound we think may hit a sweet spot in the balance between displays and portability - it should slide easily into a lab coat pocket. Of course one of the principal strengths of the Android platform for our application is the variety of options it promises to provide, so each user should be able to suit their own preferences for h/w.

Since the Ipad Android type are coming out, this might be better suited for your application.

looks good. Major drawback is that the 'flinging' between images is not useful and should be replaced by a method of scrolling through the images as one does in real life. Otherwise could be a great app, maybe useful for mobile presentation. But needs to scroll

The ability to dictate and retrieve labs is great. I have two main concerns however: 1) resolution is the name of the game in radiology, and I'm not sure if a radiologist would (or should) feel comfortable ruling in or ruling out pathology on an image study from their smartphone, given that typical radiology workstations use high def 20+ inch screens. 2) What sort of encryption or level of security could be guaranteed with this software to ensure patient confidentiality?

Thanks for your thoughts and questions. On your first point, we completely agree, and will label the device as "not for diagnostic use," though we understand that there are several common review tasks which do not require hi-res viewing, and which may benefit from being done immediately, from anywhere (real-time IGRT setup review in rad. oncology was where we started).

Regarding security of patient information, we are using SSL, with 128 or 256 bit keys, combined, of course with user auth.
