Does anyone know where I can find the music on the sail barge when they are going to the Sarlaac? It's like some disco/dance music. I've been searching for it everywhere and can't seem to find it!
This should have been on the original release of the soundtrack from 1983 instead of Lapti Nek. As others have stated, this track is both trippy and and has a strange beauty at the same time. It's just too bad that they weren't able to locate the music that starts up right after Jabba agrees to pay 35,000 credits for Chewbacca. Maybe it will be on the Special Special Edition when it comes out in 2042.
Does anyone remember a different song by the same band in Return of the Jedi? It was playing when 3PO ran into R2. "R2, what are you doing here?" "Well, I can see your serving things...." That scene. Does anyone know if that music has been released?
is this a classical tune adapted for the soundtrack? by the way this sounds very much like boccherini who was from the mid-18 century, i.e. after the baroque era(1600-1750)
@ProGamblerCauthon hahaha yes i am very aware of that... the title of this track is a little inaccurate but the music is in the style of classical, silly!!! um wow, you should become familiar with the actual music instead of just the terms
@thesir27 While I will acknowledge that melody line sounds classical, the accompaniment could have come directly from the Well-Tempered Klavier. And please don't talk to me about actually playing any real music. I'm an Organ Performance major.
@thesir27 ...which could easily come from a Bach prelude. My main point is that John Williams, one of the musical geniuses of our era, named this Jabba's Baroque Recital. Are you willing to contest this with him?
@ProGamblerCauthon Yup I would contest that he just thought it sounded better than 'Jabba's Classical Recital'. but the point is that this immediately reminded me of Mozart/classical, despite the Baroque title. and it seems that is the general consensus about this track too, evident by the other comments
@thesir27 I see where you're coming from but I just think between the title and one particular Bach prelude (can't remember the number) it leans toward Baroque.
@ProGamblerCauthon yeah thanks for stating the obvious but thesir27 is right, they may have named the track "Jabba's Baroque Recital" but its clearly supposed to sound exactly like Mozart
This is sort of corny. And this is not jizz, you guys are right. Max Rebo only played jizz, not....not, classical. Actually, they had the Fat Dancer (Yarna D'al Gargan) dance for him in his room so he could go to sleep. Poor Yarna, get Tales from Jabba's Palace and read her story, it is sad and a great piece of writing. And to think me and some friends actually made fun of her.
@StormsongK And it's not just Max Rebo's music either. In many expanded Universe books I've read, "a jizz craze is sweeping through the galaxy." Haha! But to tell the truth, I think jizz music was named before jizz meant anything bad here on Earth. Probably a play on jazz. Still, it always makes me laugh when I see that; it's so wrong.... XD
@StormsongK When jazz was originally introduced, conservative critics derided it for promoting sexual deviancy and general out-of-controlness (much as they would do with rock-and-roll and rap later on).
Given that George Lucas is well educated and given to making obscure references and hidden jokes, the name 'Jizz' is probably a bit of tongue-in-cheek.
Observation: This music was used in Star Wars Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith, the expansion to Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II. It is heard in Ka'Pa the Hutt's palace.
