Bo and Hope. Truly a wonderful couple. Days created excellent supercouples back then. Bo and Hope, Steve and Kayla, Jack and Jen, and John and Marlena.
Back then, you could watch the characters develop. The couples had a real friendship before they ever kissed or made love. Almost everyone rooted for them.
They're all deserving of appreciation for what they brought their respective fans, but Bo and Hope are special for being the last one standing. Hope they aren't messed up now.
Peter's right, Supercouples are a product of the past. Kristian thinks it's the audience, but no matter how much an audience wants to believe in a pairing (and they do), it won't happen without the Unit; producing, writing, actors, story development, time and THEN the audience. The Unit that made them happen is gone and that's why they're a thing of the past.
It is also because of the audience, they could buy it or not, regardless of the writing, it is that audiences response that keeps couples as popular as they are. The audience is the one who watches. Bo and Hope have earned their place as the second greatest supercouple in soaps. And even when the writing has been terrible on this show, more often than none, Peter and Kristian's chemistry have still made them marketable and special.
I agree. You can't even use the word supercouple today. I think there is POTENTIAL for some supercouples today, but like you said if it doesn't happen without "the Unit" then it won't happen. Like today's couples on GH for example, are just an embarrassment because the writing is an embarrassment. Couples like Bo and Hope, Tad and Dixie, Luke and Laura etc are true supercouples and today's couples can't even compare.
@Steeellaaa I think they're both right. I don't think one has to contradict the other. You can have all the good writing in the world, but at the end the audience has to enjoy the story and feel that strong chemistry, and then their ENTHUSIASM and support is what tells us whether or not this is a "super" couple, or just any other mildly popular couple.
Lol! bo fainting at the end was pretty funny, and that cop was an idiote. I think they're right about the whole super couple too! Great clips!
