I just finished watching Gold Rush a few minutes ago and I'll tell you I had to keep reminding myself that it wasn't Robert Downey Jr., it was Chaplin. It's honestly hard to tell the difference.
@AleXX1995XX It does remind of a scene from The Adventurer 1917 but in the original scene, he is runing from a cop. But the gags are about the same. A nice film!
Love it. ... . Tory from Austin Texas. Singer songwriter musician. Check out my originals and subscribe if you like. Please listen to my own original of The Little Tramp..a tribute to Charlie Chaplin
Man he had Chaplin down scary-good. The toddling pigeontoed walk, the opportunististic comedic timing, the shoulder movements, the graceful clumsiness, the beatific smile. eery, but in a good way.
It's not an actual scene in any movie the tramp has done. The chasing around the camera, annoying the photographer bit was spoofed from "Kid Auto Races" which was the Tramps first appearance. The big chase while flirty eyed with the girl and then hiding under the lamp shade, can be seen in, I think, The Adventurer.
If we're being honest NOTHING was done in one take back then, and the real cute flirtiness of Chaplin's Tramp wasn't really present until he was doing the Mutual Comedies. haha, he was kind of a meanie in the Essanay comedies where he started off with Mack Sennet. All ass-kickery and such! But if they had tried to replicate an actual scene it would have stunk, as nothing would ever be as good as the original.
@BlondeSkrawberry you know what Just because something is original and old. doesnt make them GOD. there is alot of talent and people who put their soul into their work and do match and surpass classics. like Lon Chaney or Chaplin.
PS anyone realise that Chaney and Chaplin were both silent actors. with the ch in the name. ITs a CURSE!
It wasn't movie, it was real masterpiece. Robert Downey Jr. was brilliant as Charlie. I love also Diane Lane, Kevin Kline, very young and cute Milla Jovovich in this movie
I love Charlie Chaplin, he was so amazing at what he did.. flawless. Robert Downey Jr couldn't have done a better job with this.. he got Chaplin's mannerisms down to a T. He freaking nailed it. You can tell he put alot of passion into this role.
I once bought it in a store in Denmark named Moby Disc, they had alot of stuff that was unknown or speciel in some ways, or just simpely rare. But you can probaly buy it on Ebay.
A friend of mine has a machine that copies VHS tapes onto SD cards or flash drives. From there, I will download the video onto the computer. From there, onto the internet!
I love RDJr, but this is the only part of the film where I felt I was really watching Charlie, and not just him playing Chaplin. At 2:55 and 3:58, that's Charlie's smile.
can someone post this movie please!!!...i know someone did and it got taken off but i just need the whole movie for one day. Please if u have it i would realy appreciate it. i just need it up for one day and you can take it down. Please if your going to out it up let me know.
