tis true tis true what you say. part of the "haunting" feeling is the echo we naturally had in the Abbey where we sang, and part of it is a little post-recording editing that was done to tidy up the sound a bit.

This version is quite interesting, different from the original version, which my choir once performed, but it has a haunting feeling, probably because of the recording and echo. The only thing that bothers me is that the climax around 2:30 is a bit quiet, if it were a bit more powerful, it would be absolutely lovely.

To say you can't enjoy this song because you don't believe in god is like saying a heterosexual female can't enjoy a love song written by a male about a female because that would make them gay. you should have sung it in original, old church slavonic language... it's a bit strange to listen to a piece of orthodox vespers in latin... but the piece itself is wonderful. Rachmaninov rules!!!! :)))
