Mike Landess started his career in Cleveland in the early 1970s at WKYC Channel 3 as a reporter and later as co-anchor to Ohio news legend Doug Adair replacing Virgil Dominic who became WJW Channel 8's news director.
@tmisch64 They were coming off their "11 News" phase. They dropped the Alive out of the news for about a year - they were back to calling it 11Alive News by the Olympics but the graphics didn't catch up for a bit.
I LOVED this opening. I forgot about Angela Robinson though. I was working that night in that parking lot. lol There was so many people in Atlanta during the games. lol
Very hip and very cool for '96 graphics standards. And I like that they tailored this for midnight. And yes, I believe this was "The Speed Of Life", one of Gari's NBC affiliate collection packages.
I believe it was around Labor Day of 1994. They dropped the Alive from the news and brought it back just about the time of the Olympics. In fact this open does not include the "Alive" in the logo but the voice over says it.
I use to live there

Mike Landess is at KMGH (ABC) in Denver, and Angela Robinson is at WPBA (PBS) in Atlanta. Keith Whitney is still at WXIA.

The Games ran until midnight covering up the 11pm. Same thing that's about to happen to your local NBC stations.
